The reason is because a character making that mistake adds spice to the game as his being mistaken may or may not turn into a running gag...especially if it's the stuffy character.

Hundover took a swig from his waterskin. It had been a long trek to this town and Hundover had just heard the unfortunate news that there were no inns. He'd been directed to this adventure fair by a couple farmers who for their part seemed only to eager to redirect an adventurer. It seems this town has reason to dislike adventurers. Hundover thought to himself. It also seems Master Haito was correct that they have a need for them. This last thought was in response to the signs that flashed before him. Many of the signs were gaudy and manned by courtiers, and for some reason purely unattractive. Hundover was looking for an adventure to test himself. Having just exited from formal training he considered himself too young to undertake the more lucrative quests.

"Rescue a princess and you're expected to marry her. Save a kingdom and you're expected to rule it." It was one of Master Haito's favorite saying and it made sense. And I'm not ready to marry or rule. Hundover thought. Unlike his older brothers Hundover had little ambition. It was one of the things that had played into his father's hands when Hundover chose the adventuring life. Hundover would rather enjoy himself traveling, carousing, and sword fighting than tying himself up with the affairs of state. He looked over the clearing once again taking in all the sounds and sights. Some cryers were calling for conscripts in some army, others were calling for a quest to retrieve an invaluable family relic of one sort or another. All were proclaiming glory and undying thanks. All were unappealing. It wasn't as if they were below Hundover; they just didn't sing out as 'I'm the one pick me.' Hundover sighed and readjusted the longsword his father had bought him. Resting his hands upon its hilt Hundover reappraised the clearing. It was upon this reappraisal that he noted a plain sign hastily erected. The very plainness of the sign seemed to call to Hundover, the plainness and the fact that a courtier did not attend this booth, but instead the booth was attended by what seemed to be a battle hardened veteran. Perhaps that is the adventure I will set upon. Hundover thought as he approached the sign and its tender. He watched as five others approached. "Adventuring is a risky business from signing up till payout. Adventurers are more often than not mercenaries and despite your better intentions you are as well, and mercenaries can't be trusted. There are two types, one will treat you as a brother and be where you need them when you need them. The other will see you as competition and will take any moment to remove you" Master Haito's words flitted through Hundover's mind as he watched the others approach. "Always prepare for the worst and you may just live as long as I have." Hundover laid his hand upon his sword loosening it just a little in case one of these mercs decided they could handle this adventure alone. He strode to the sign with easy practiced strides that belied a formally trained bladesmaster his chainshirt glistening in the sunlight pulled tight with cloth breeches, belted to his waist by a leather was a beautiful longsword with elven etchings embroidered into the hilt. Completing the entire assemblage where leather boots also embroidered with elven artwork across the hem of the boots. He has a backpack secured tightly to his back so that it wouldn't impede in any altercations that might take place. As Hundover arrives at the sign he sizes up the man before the sign.

"Greetings my name is Hundover. What quest are you offering, and what are the rewards?" Hundover asks of the big man as the other five arrive. The man sits there with his arms crossed as though he didn't hear Hundover, knowing that his voice was plenty loud enough for anyone to hear Hundover sits with his back to the sign. I suppose he will speak when he is ready. Hundover watches as the rest of the party reacts to the silent and immobile man. Ah perhaps now we will learn of the quest. Hundover thinks as he watches what looks like a child run for the sign. Obviously we have been waiting for this child. As the child gets closer Hundover notices that it is in fact not a child but a skinny man dressed in clothes that seem to belong to a bigger man. I wonder who he stole such expensive clothes from Hundover thinks slightly bemused. Not that it matters as aside from what I wear I own nothing that would compare and so the little thief would probably find my belongings a little drab. Hundover watches as the exchange from the little man and big man happens feeling extreme disappointment when the big man stalks off. Ah well I guess today is simply a bad day to start adventuring. In that case this quest will most likely be as good as any other and since I'm here anyways I might as well participate. Hundover rose as the little man looked at the party.

"I have a slight problem." The little man sighs. Well duh Hundover thinks as he leans against the sign. If you didn't then you wouldn't need adventurers

Stardate 2368.04.10
USS Discovery deck 36 1100

Ensign John Warwick walked out of the commander's office and headed to his own section of the ship. The warp core. Perhaps the most valuable technology aboard the starship next to life support and the actual computer. I hear they call the computer Sheila on this ship John thought to himself as he looked upon the center of engineering. wierd. Well first things first the dilithium crystals. John walked to the panel that would be his. Normally he would have just run a diagnostic to see if everything was working but this was a new engine, with new modifications. And John liked to see his entire engine. He took the warpcore offline knowing that hey weren't leaving in a day or so it wouldn't be a problem. Besides I shouldn't be changing anything. and if I am then I can always get a crew to help me. He opened the dilithium chamber and pulled the crystals out. It seems that they just replaced the crystals. Good, they should have being in drydock with plenty of time. John thought as he looked upon the perfectly shaped crystals. He put the crystal array back in place and closed the chamber. He then turned the warp core back online and began to run a diagnostic on the matter anti-matter system. He would have opened it up as well except once the ship launches it's dangerous to open the antimatter chamber without a full purge of the system and John sincerely doubted there was need or time to perform such a procedure. So instead he watched the diagnostic closely. Well maybe not as closely as he should have been since he seemed to notice a cute petty officer going about her duties. I'd like to ask her out for a drink sometime. He thought as he watched her crouching to fix some systems. If only I wasn't terrified of talking to a pretty face outside of work. John sighed as he turned his attention back to the diagnostics. It was a good thing he did too because it seemed that the matter chamber was running just a bi faster than the antimatter chamber. It wouldn't have been a problem until the ship needed to go warp 9.3 but one never knew when the ship needed to go warp 9.3. The fix was probably just a matter of readjustment but it was better to run a full diagnostic and report the problem to the commander. John began the full diagnostic of the warp core and tapped his badge.
"Ensign Warwick to mmm..." John wondered briefly if he should tell the commander or the assistant chief. "Commander Kennedy."

(assuming a response)

"Commander it seems there's a problem with the matter antimatter system. I'm in the process of fixing the issue now I just though you would want to know." John said

Kilton began digging into the spread before him. The food was very good even if in Kilton's opinion a little too well done. He began eating what he knew but purposefully didn't gorge himself on the veal and instead left room for a second plate of what he did not know. As he ate a bard came into the room. The king greeted the bard warmly as did the elven druid. Kilton having lived the last seven years in isolation in his tower had no idea who this Sonny Lightheart was. He also didn't really care. Music was powerful medium of communication and as a wizard Kilton recognized its potential to be a tool of magic, it was used in some of the more obscure rituals, but music had no appeal to Kilton. He thought music was a way for the poor to learn their history, and he would rather read of that history.

"Now as I was saying. There is a halfling named Searo DeCorwyn. He is a very powerful sorcerer in the employ of my western counterpart, king Soloman Vasgar. King Soloman is neck deep in one of the most glorious wars in the history of the realms... That noble cause of lifting the curse of the undead from one of its oldest bastions. That bastion Nixmir City, is under the control of an ancient necromancer... I'm sure you all know this story. In fact, the city, state, and country is named after him, Vardon Nixmir." The King went into the real reason this party was assembled.
(rolled a natural 20 and instead of an int check i'm making a knowledge arcana check. To which I believe I get a +8 to. Also making a knowledge arcana check to see if I know of Searo rolled a 15)

Kilton listened to the king watching the rest of his compatriots. He had read a few tales of Nixmir. Not a very nice character, unless you happened to come from the school of necromancy; in that case Nixmir was a genius, a hero, an idol, and to some a god. Nixmir had made undead better at necromancy than some the Necromancer's Tower's masters. Magically speaking Nixmir was amazing and so held Kilton's respect. Morally speaking Kilton was horrified at what Nixmir had both rumored to have done and written almost braggingly in books that he had done.

"Now Searo, who is not only a great guy, but wise beyond his years, has hand picked each of you, and from what I understand two more like you. You represent," The king rebegins his tale. "you represent all the different cultures
who stand to lose something if Nixmir is not removed from power." The King pauses again and drinks a little more wine.
Kilton wondered which culture he represented. The culture of wizards or the culture of the eastern kingdom. Not that it mattered. Kilton watched the others as they absorbed the information. The elf seemed agitated at the mention of Nixmir. Perhaps with good reason, while the party may represent the cultures that would have something to lose they also represented the cultures that Nixmir had in sometime offended. Nixmir had many enemies.

"Please good bard for those of us that don't know of this monsterous necromancer please sing us a bard's tale of his rampages." The elf rose and took his highness to the side. Kilton watched with a little interest but he really didn't want to hear a bard's tale he really wanted to hear what it was this party could do that no other could. He would have said so but his masters had always told him that if he was the last to make his bets then maybe he would know better how to bet. it was their way of saying to let a scene play out as far as possible before making a move. It was also something that Kilton was quite good at, the gods it seemed had blessed Kilton with amazing patience' and so he waited and bade his time watching as the scene played out. Watching as the dance entered yet a new stage.

Subject: A king's feast

Kilton followed behind Squiggly as he lead the way through the Illumourus glancing at everything in the hopes of seeing whatever spell kept this ship afloat. I would guess a rune of some sort as they are better at holding spells indefinitely, and the king wouldn’t want it touching ground. I hope it‘s a rune I didn‘t prepare read magic. Though he saw no runes he was intrigued at what he did see; The ship seemed to be made of pipes. There was little in the way of wood as a sea ship is made. Instead the ship was made of brass tubing and had pipes and valves everywhere with gnomes racing around to adjust as needed. Kilton wondered if all of the mechanics were necessary to operate the spell or if the wizard was simply being overdramatic. If indeed there was a wizard behind this wondrous ship. The further into the ship the more Kilton wondered. He still had not seen a rune to denote a self renewing spell, and he had not seen a wizard aboard to monitor either the runes or the spell. It was likely that the wizard was at the helm and keeping this behemoth asky with a single spell point but the dynamics of enchanting such a large vessel with a single focal point was difficult and not very wise. It would be better if the spell was shaped like a web tying the energies to multiple points so if a point went out the spell could compensate and remain up. Now I really wish I had prepared read magic. Kilton thought. Squiggy lead the party to a seeming war room. Kilton had to duck to enter but once in he was immediately distracted by the smells of a feast set before him. He couldn’t readily identify most of what was before him. Having spent most of his life in the Blue Tower he hadn’t exactly gotten the opportunity to eat like royalty. He could identify the veal, wine, and necessary ribs.
"I present his royal majesty, King of Brocitania, Guardian of the Eastern Kingdom, Conquerer of Devlinsgrimm, Grand Admiral of the Mighty Myrdell and High Lord of the Very Sky We Sit Under in Awe Before the Very Gods, Sarrius Brocitas.” Squiggy began by introducing the Grey Elf who stood patiently before the party. Kilton looked up at the introductions expecting to see someone grand. He was a bit surprised to see the king was an Elf, somehow that fact hadn’t been mentioned in conversation, but overall the King was an average seeming individual. “Your Majesty, I present to you Anastianna Nailo of our allies the Wood Elves of Sylestria. I present to you Doogan Ferndrum Perrybuck Bobcat Otto Creespire Wilikaloontatakochtitlanroopatototootloon of the Sanctuary of Agoria, he says you can call him Doogan. I present to you Kilton Oprium, Wizard of the Blue Tower and personal reccomendation of Archmage Irtrill, Administrator of the Tower of Transmuters. Your majesty, Lightheart is running a little late, but my watchers tell me they have spotted his boat approaching the island, so I expect him to be here soon."
So the other gnome isn’t a part of the ship’s compliment. Kilton thought as he took a full measure of the new member of the party. He didn’t introduce himself as that had already been done in the formal speeches and introducing himself would possibly shatter he air of mystery Kilton was striving to hold onto. And it seems we will have one more. Kilton glanced back up to the king expectantly. It’s a shame I expect we will have to wait for the last one before we know why we are here.
"Yes yes yes, Squiggy. thank you very much. That is all, make preparations." Sarrius turns and addresses the party.
"Please, sit. Eat with me. I trust you are famished from your long journeys. You are in good hands here. Take a load off." He smiles warmly and slides a chair out for Anna. "My lady, I am as always in awe of the presence of the elves of the wood. I hazard that the beauty of the wood elves far outstrips that of the children of Sylvus."
Kilton smiles as he observes the king’s actions. Attempting to lure us into a sense of comfort. Perhaps his king is more kingly and political than first glance. Kilton sat himself at he able not really bothering to wait for the king to sit himself. He did notice the gnome waiting but he figured he had been invited to the table there was no reason to wait for the host to sit. Kilton did however wait for all to be seated before he helped himself to a serving of veal, a potato, a couple of slices of some sort of orange fruit, and a glass of wine.

Subject: Gnome punting my favorite sport!

Kilton Oprium follows the gnome dodging and weaving by people of multiple varieties. The gnome he’s following isn’t the only gnome wandering the docks, which makes weaving through the crowd a little harder. If Kilton wasn’t following a gnome chances are he’d trip over one. Gnomes weren’t the only creature walking the docks either. There were different men of different sorts. The other thing Kilton noticed about the dock was the noise. There were people calling from the dock to leaving ships and people calling from leaving ships to the dock. There were people waving at least day old fish yelling “Fresh Fish” and others standing over a booth covered stones calling “Pearls!” There were people jumping off the dock and people yelling at them. Over all it was like walking through Chaos and yet it all made enough sense that if Kilton were not a visitor he wouldn’t notice the majority of it but instead as many of the people on the dock would only see what he wanted and where he was going, oblivious to the wonder that is the human dock. Kilton himself only noticed the basics as he raced through the throng of sailors and dock workers chasing after the little gnome who thought he was going slow. The gnome brought Kilton to a guarded section. The navy docks. Kilton thought as he peered behind the guards blocking his path. The greatest fleets in the known world!
“We understand that you have orders to bring these people to the King, yet we also have orders to check everyone’s clearance.” The guard told the gnomes demanding to be let through. At the mention of people as opposed to person made Kilton look from the fleet to his general surroundings were he noted an intriguing site; standing before him was a lithe creature wearing animal skins and antler horns. Kilton watched in wonder as the elf (as deduced by the ears) presented a letter bearing the same royal seal as his own. An Elf! Kilton thought in amazement. They really are as barbaric as rumors said, and yet I find that there is a magical look of connection to Pellius in the look. It’s as if she’s expressing the wild in her dressing. Noting the letter Kilton wasn’t surprised an Elven Ambassador would be seeing royalty but he was surprised the Ambassador would be seeing the King. After all affairs of state were the Queen’s concern.
“Identification please.” The guards voice broke Kilton’s reverie. Kilton pulled from his own pocket his letter and gave it to the guard. “Go ahead,” the guard stepped aside. The gnome led Kilton and the elf to the most wondrous ship Kilton had ever seen.
“An airship!” Kilton breathed. The ship floated above the water moored into a tower. It looked Illithic in design, and seemed to Kilton as though it was a Planes ship he once read of. The first mate with huge arms named Squiggy bows gallantly.
"I invite you aboard the Illumorous, finest ship in all Pellios."
“Thank you” Kilton says recovering from his shock at the beauty of such a ship. It is well named. He thought as he prepared to board the gangplank. Before crossing he gingerly looked at it. So high up. Should it give the fall would surely hurt. Kilton thought gingerly. On the other hand Squiggy must weigh at least twice what I do with arms like that and it didn’t give for him so It probably won’t give under me. Kilton prepared to cross but before he could the elf looked at him and introduced herself." “Hi I'm Anastianna Nailo but you can call me Anna for short and this Owl on my shoulder is Siannodel." The elf greeted Kilton. Kilton carefully put in place the wizarding mask he had been taught at the Blue Tower. It’s not that every wizard is mysterious, calm, quick to anger, and devastatingly powerful; it’s just that it works in the favor of the general wizarding society if they encouraged the belief that every wizard is. Wizards had learned a long time ago that fearful respect afforded them much needed resources and peace, and they had learned that if the public were to think that they could overcome any one wizard the public would attempt to overcome all wizards out of fear. So to keep the public respecting them wizards decided to be aloof and vague so the fearful mind would insert the necessary information to keep wizards just one step below gods. Of course it helped that every once in a while a wizard came along that really was just below gods. With the trained air of a powerful wizard Kilton peered around his staff.
“I am Kilton Oprium of the Blue Tower.” Kilton said in a low voice barely above a whisper that cut through the din straight into the ears of those around him. It wasn’t a spell but one more of the many stage tricks taught to budding wizards in order to keep the mysterious air of wizardry. Having introduced himself Kilton proceeds onto the ship eager to finally see what has brought him from his comforts in he Blue Tower.

As the boat neared the docks the old ferryman pulled the boat incredibly close to the docks. He hopped out and tied the boat to the moor once more looking in the direction of the elven ship and spitting. This time he almost hit Kilton who had begun making his way trepidatiously off the boat. Neither member seemed to notice. Kilton didn’t notice because he was currently looking eagerly at the dock and watching anxiously the greenish water under the boat. Upon stepping onto the sturdy dok Kilton let out a sigh of relief.
“Thnk you for the ride.” Kilton said to the old man who just grunted in reply. There was no one looking for return visit to the north shore so the old man simply climbed back into his boat and unmoored drifting away. Kilton however peered at his surroundings with interest and anticipation. First things first Kilton thought find a guard who can help me find my way to the palace.
"Kilton Oprium of the Blue Tower?"  As though thinking of him summoned him a voice called up to Kilton. He peered around until he realized that the voice was below him aand so he looked down. The first thing Kilton noticed was the arms. They were easily the largest arms Kilton had ever or would likely ever see. They belonged to a gnome who by his appearance was a sailor. It was a conclusion that Kilton reached with two facts: sailing was the only thing that could produce arms like that and only a hard life could produce he scars this gnome wore proudly. At the moment this gnome was obviously trying o hide his annoyance. "I am Commander Feljistichranichomitanlinos, of his Majesty's flagship, the Illumorous. You can call me Squiggy. I have orders to escort you to his majesty. I hope you do not mind foregoing the pomp of the royal court. His majesty is... not what you'd call a courtier."
I wonder what he means by that? Kilton thought though noting the appearance of the messenger Kilton could only guess he wasn’t going to the palace. The gnome held up his hands obviously expecting Kitlon to turn over his luggage.
“Then by all means please lead on.” Kilton hands the gnome his luggage all except the quarterstaff which he leans on in normal wizardry fashion (it’s taught in the wizard’s etiquette classes, they spend a whole week on it) and prepares to follow.

USS Discovery Deck 36 and Holodeck 3

Warwick exited the turbo lift onto deck 36 intent on checking out the warp engine and the tweaks that inevitably are applied in space.

“Warwick here” John said as he tapped his badge.
=/\\=Mac in Tac=/\\= A pause as Ensign Warwick raises his eyebrows at the unintentional rhyme. =/\\=Lt. Mctavish in Tactical. Would like that briefing before ten hundred hours. Can you swing that?=/\\=
“Yes Cmmdr. I can do that.” John says as he reverses course back to the turbo lift.
=/\\=Good. Go ahead and reserve a room through Operations and then send out a request for all required personnel. Speak with MeCall about who that should go to, she’ll get you a list of who needs to be there. =/\\=
“I’d like to do the briefing in holodeck 3” John says as he enters the turbo lift. “It’s where I’ve programmed the necessary demonstrations.”
(OOC Asuming a begrudging agreance)
“Thanks Cmmdr. Warwick out.” John taps his badge again closing the channel and retaps it to open a new channel. “Ensign Warwick to Chief MeCall.”
=/\\=MeCall here=/\\= The chipper voice of Tanyi responds.
“Tanyi can I get you to do me a favor and tell all senior engineering and tactical staff that a briefing on the new mark VI torpedoes will be on holodeck 3 at ten hundred hours?” John asks.
=/\\=Certainly leave it to me=/\\= Tanyi pipes =/\\=Wait did you say holodeck 3?=/\\=
“Yep I did.” John smiles “Tanks Tanyi you’re the best.”
=/\\=Ok if you says so. MeCall out=/\\=
John sighs as he climbs into the turbo lift. I guess the warp engine will have to wait.
“Deck 11” John says refocusing on his briefing. Naturally John was the first one at the holodeck and so he set the program and entered. The first holoprogram John had set was a simulation of the bndge with a Romulan War Bird on the view screen getting ready to attack the simulated Discovery. “Computer freeze program. “John said before any action could take place. The idea behind the simulation would be to show the torpedoes in action at various intervals of the battle starting with a warning shot of yield 1. John stood at tactical waiting for the arrival of his superiors.
“Hello and welcome to the Mark VI Torpedo briefing. We’re in the holodeck because I’ve found that a simulated demonstration is far more informatory than a report reading. As you can see this simulation will be against a Romulan Warbird. During the simulation I will show how the Mark VI has a variety of ranges, power levels, control navigation and detonation, and frequencies.” John pauses to take a breath. “First I will demonstrate the damage effect of yield one with our shields up range maximum of 300,000,000 kilometers. The torpedo’s frequency is set to match our shields which will allow us to fire without lowering shields. Computer continue program.”
The Warbird on the view screen comes into slightly better focus situating itself square with the simulated Discovery. John pushes the fire button releasing a single torpedo which detonates on the shields of the Warbird. John presses another button bringing the tactical data on the view screen.
“Computer freeze program.” John says freezing the simulation. “As you can see the low yield torpedo didn’t damage their shields. From the data that I gathered the yield one torpedo is best used to trigger an effect or as a warning shot. Even had it been fired with no shields up it’s unlikely that it would have penetrated their hull. On the other hand a 16 yield torpedo. Computer resume program.”
John pressed another button firing another torpedo. It detonated as It hit the shields. The tactical displayed showed he shields completely destroyed and the Warbird in critical condition.
“16 yield is strong enough to blow up a sun. Not that I would suggest blowing up a sun.” John said. “There are 16 variations of strength the warheads can be set at. We are capable of firing ten torpedoes at once and with the new targeting system installed with these babies we can set each individual torpedo to a different yield. The new targeting system will also allow us to either set a detonation point or to self detonate an already launched torpedo. Computer run Torpedo 2.”
The view screen shifted from the nearly dusted Warbird to an asteroid field with several varying size asteroids obviously heading straight for the Discovery. “I have preset the five warheads for the yield 5,8,10,11, and 13.” John said as he hit the fire button. Five torpedoes launch making impact with the asteroids and vaporizing all but the largest which broke up into 3 more smaller asteroids. “now I have preset torpedoes with yield 3 and preset the detonation point just before impact.” John hit the fire button launching three more torpedoes which detonated right before hitting the asteroids changing their course.
“Perhaps the coolest feature of these warheads is the adjustable frequency. If you can match the frequency of the photons in the warhead with the frequency of the enemy shields they will bypass the shields as if they weren’t even there. Computer run Torpedo 3.” John said and the view screen switched to a new Romulan Warbird. The bridge switched to red alert with mild damage. “In this simulation we have lost shields. That’s important because the warheads are preset to our shield frequency in order for them to bypass. Since we have no shields I have reset the warhead’s frequency o match the Romulan’s shields and set It on yield 16 at 200,000 Km.” John said as he fired. The torpedo detonated on the Warbird leaving nothing but debris.
“One more demonstration with the 16 yield torpedo.” John said as a Romulan Warbird materialized on the view screen. “That war bird is within 10,000 kilometers of us.” John reported as he hit the button “and I am using a 16 yield warhead.” The torpedo launched making impact with the Warbird and the holoprogram came to an explosive end leaving the observers in a plain holodeck. “These warheads are fantastic weapons at long range, the longer the better.”

Subject: And it begins

The boat got off to a rocky start, though considering the age of the boat and its captain it was probably one of the better starts but Kilton’s stomach wasn’t considering the age. Luckily the ride smoothed out even if it was a bit zaggy. The boat meandered south swaying from east to west. The ride was almost like being rocked to sleep doubly so for Kilton who hadn’t rested well since the four days he’d left the Tower. It seemed sleeping on the ground was an acquired taste and Kilton hadn’t acquired it. The only thing keeping him awake was the smell of the river and his inherent distrust of strangers. Even so he was slowly drifting to sleep when the sky blackened as though a huge shadow had fallen across Pellius. Kilton peered up at the sky calling to mind his one combat spell, not that he figured it would save his life just that he was ornery enough to want to cause some discomfort to an assailant. Peering around he saw no opponent but instead that the sun had been eclipsed by the Slow Dragon, Pelius’ largest moon. It was a phenomenon that had been occurring with less frequency since the Stillness. Kilton had a friend back at the tower that would lock himself in his study for hours after each time and proclaim that doom was coming somewhere. Kilton believed that these phenomena were natural results of the Stillness and so portended no such thing, still he couldn’t help think that it was a troublesome omen and perhaps that doom was finally catching up to him. The idea of the Stillness intrigued Kilton. Even though he was sure that it was a natural event like the centurium flower blooming every hundred years he couldn’t help but wonder what a skilled wizard could do with the energy that the Stillness was tied to. The thought was unnerving in the darkness.

"Akhmed, please guide our path." The old ferryman utters an oath to the sea deity as he pats the tip of his rudder and touches his forehead. While Kilton didn’t worship any one god he did believe they all existed and so added his own silent entreaty to Akhmed.
In about an hour, the sun returns to the sky and in a couple of hours, the city looms above you. The high towers perch atop the bluffs of the islands and make for a very imposing sight. As the boat closes with the city, it mixes in with the other river traffic. Fishing boats, ferries and warships of all manner of sizes and types sail up and down the river on all manner of business. Ships of the Eastern Trading Company, the Merchants of Chuul, Talelore Shipping. Brocitania Imperial warships, Griffon's Mane vessels, even the rare Western Kingdom vessel. You even spot a single Galleon that appears to be fashioned out of driftwood and sticks. It flies a banner of green with an unearthed tree and a rising sun.
"Wood Elves." The ferryman spits over the side and glares with narrowed eyes.
"From the east. Diplomatic vessel. My arse. Them's cannibals." He spits again, this time on the deck.
"Akhmed protect us."
Wood Elves Kilton stared in wonder at the foreign ship. While he didn’t agree to the rumored barbarism of wood elves, after all they could sail so they could think, the idea of cannibals did make him take note to be cautious around any elves he might run into. Though here I’m sure they’re no threat, after all we seem to be under no attack. Kilton stirred from his position preparing to leave the rickety boat and enter the next stage of the dance.

A couple things: first I don't think Ensign Warwick is aware of the selected time for his briefing, and second as that's bound to be a complex post with you guys interrupting the report with a lot of questions how do you guys want to coordinate? Do you guys want me to post my report and then you guys post your response and then I post the answers or work it out in pm's and then one of us post a complete post on it?
