Not the best post ever, but Phelan's got the talking down already, so Jon'll just be closing it out and getting it started.

Plus I haven't been shot yet, so I can still get Tess to fly our ship into the sun.

Subject: David Tennant says...

“Well that I can do and it is good to hear.” The man looks around nervously and then speaks to the barkeep as he comes up, “Tony, can you get a bottle of the Bin 47 for us? Make it two and put it on my tab. Yeah, thanks.” He looks around the room once more. “You might as well taste what it is you are hauling right? Right? Or I hope you'll haul. Cause I need someone to haul it. Right?” he says with a broad smile looking at all the people at the table. He stops at the sight of Grace’s sore face. “Whoa. Listen babe, whoever you think I killed, it wasn’t me. I make wine and that’s all. Grape stains only right?” He says with arms stretched out and a humorous grin - a valiant if misguided attempt to be funny.

Jon opened his mouth to say something before Grace's indignant squeak cut him off.

"WHAT did you just call me?”

Fantastic. He thought, Now my mechanic is going to kill my meal ticket.

"Look, Lao Buhn, I am not a babe. Nor do I like being called one. So, Lao Sheong , do yourself a favour and don't call me that. Dohn Luh Mah?" stated Grace who was glaring at Norman.

Jon was just leaning back in his seat, sipping the ordered wine and pleasantly surprised that no one had taken a bottle to the forehead yet. He waited for the outburst to end to attempt his piece again before being immediately cut off by Jason.

“Mr. Sellers, pardon the interruption of this fascinating subject, but let me see if I have the facts so far.” Jason spoke with a smile, “The cargo is wine for the Baron Otello’s yearly social and the destination is Osiris. I believe that only leaves the time that the cargo needs to be delivered.”

As Norm and Jason began hashing over details, Jon mostly came to terms with the fact that he'd not get a word in edgewise for a while. Jason was good at what he did though, even if he did never shut up, and Jon was happy to have him aboard. While the pair of them continued negotiations, he looked about the table. Grace, while still visibly upset, had not yet stabbed anyone, Tess was getting progressively drunker and Ken was keeping an eye on the other patrons. He caught Brian's eye for a second as discussion turned to Osiris, though the man looked away just as their eyes met. He knew the doc' was not a fan of the planet, but gorram it he getting paid for a job this time, so he'd just have to deal. He refocused on the conversation just as Jason turned to Tess and Grace.

“Well Grace, Tess, is Osiris in 9 days possible?”

"As long as we don't have any problems, we can make it in about seven days. If we go at full burn, we can make it there even faster but we won't have any fuel left." Grace spoke up first, and her statement was quickly confirmed by Tess.

“I’d hate to go full burn,” Tess was now drinking deeply from a water cup, clearly feeling a little worse for the wear. “It always makes me nervous running Yuan Fen empty. Of course, with the proper incentives we could have her go full tilt boogey, but Gracie’s right. She’ll make Osiris in about seven days, provided we don’t have any trouble along the way.”

Jason began questioning the man about tariffs and taxes, and Jon quickly found himself tiring of sitting here and not getting paid. The man was going to give them 2000 credits up front, 3000 more on delivery, and tickets to party with a hundred potential customers. Plus he got off this planet, and hopefully on the way Ken could clean that gorram chicken smell out of the cargo bay. There was literally no downside he could see.

”Right? Are we on? Deal?”

The words snapped Jon out of his thoughts, with a jolt, he stood out of his seat, extending his hand.

”Norm, you show me the credits, let me wave Osiris and make loading this cargo quick and you've got yourself a deal, tariffs be damned.”

Jason would probably complain, but the longer he waited here the more chance there was of Grace stabbing the client or Tess throwing up on him, neither of which he really wanted. Plus if Jason really had a problem with it, he doubted Ken would complain about having a hand to clean the cargo with. Jon just wanted back into the Black as soon as possible, and with someone paying him to, it was all the better.

They are equidistant from your current position, and functionally identical despite the distance between them.

They serve a hub for just about everything in Westside, All drugs/guns/bumblebees etc.

Update Updated.

The two places you're going are a pair of warehouses on opposite sides of Westside that are fairly well known to everyone in the group from the addresses supplied. The Canadian gave you the impression they were understaffed.

Vitali has joined up with you guys, so uh...yeah, that.

Danyael got laid.

If Eol misses another update, I'm afraid I might have to put him on a bus, which would suck, but these things happen.

So if you guys want to set up a plan of attack or converse or whatever or questions or questions or questions again, just drop 'er here. Sorry about the delays.

The group filed off the ice as the Zamboni emerged, sweeping up what remained of the Wildfires following the third period. Amy le Connard was still cheering enthusiastically from her seat, and Danyael paused to beckon her as he stepped off the ice. With a squeal, she leapt from her seat and ran back towards the concessions, and presumably, to the off ice locker room entrance. With a smirk, Danyael turned back to his team and continued into the locker room.

~~~~~~~~~~
Vitali had remained somewhat behind the main group as they left the ice, having only just met them in less than simple circumstances. Most of his belongings were in another dressing room anyway, and as the group continued past his door, he stepped inside, throwing his now used goalie pads to the side as he sat down on the sparse wooden bench. His moment of silence was quickly interrupted however, as a Wildfire uniformed goon kicked the door to his dressing room in just as it was finally swinging to a close.
”The Canadian says yoo're oot Rooskie,.”, the big man said, throwing a duffel bag into the centre of the room, which Vitali could only assume contained the remainder of his effects. ”He says if yoo show yoor face around here again, yoo'll be sitting in it.”
Before Vitali could question just what the hell that ridiculous sounding threat meant, the man stormed out, swinging the door open with a violent motion that knocked a nearby garbage can clear across the room with a loud *SMASH*. As the Wildfire player left the room, Vitali took a moment to think of where he was going to go, but paused again as his reverie was disturbed by yet another interruption, this time a soft cough coming from...the garbage can?
Cautiously, the Ukrainian stepped towards the tipped over waste receptacle. Distancing himself from the can as much as possible, he reached out with one hand and gripped the lid handle, his other hand searching of anything that could be used as a weapon. Finding his goalie stick, he wrenched the lid off the can and jumped back, his stick held tightly to bash in the head of anything that came out. What did come out however, struck him as particularly unexpected.
What appeared to be a man dressed in garbage bags flopped unceremoniously on the floor with a dull thud. As he did, a badge popped out of the mass of black plastic that covered him, and slid across the floor towards Vitali, who took a moment to look down as it as it skidded to a stop in front of him.
Special Agent Roberto Stanislav
Fantastico Security Forces
As Vitali looked up back up, the man who just seconds ago had been draped in garbage bags was standing before him in a clean, crisp tuxedo, and a cursory scan of the room revealed absolutely no trace of his former clothing. Vitali looked at the man with at Roberto was a confused expression, but the man looked back at him expressionless face, save a small twitch in his eye, which Vitali noticed looked considerably bloodshot and (though he couldn't figure out why exactly he thought this) reminded him of a small bag of asphalt. The silent exchange of looks continued a moment more before Vitali opened his mouth to speak, only to be cut off by a sudden blurt from the man in front of him, you apparently just been reminded he to speak to communicate his ideas.
”Specialist Agent Roberto Stanislav, Master of the Disguisings, at your services”, the man took a deep bow. ”Am field agent for Mr. Fantasti, and am here to relay offer for services.”
Before Vitali could get a word in edgewise, the man continued.
”Mr. Fantasti is seeing all you are doing on ice hockey rink,” the man's thick Russian accent reminded Vitali of his homeland, ”...and is hereby requisitioning your services for himself and company.”
Vitali tried again to voice an opinion, but it was vain one more as the man continued, seemingly uninterested in any debate on the matter.
”You are to be joining others from rink een service Mr. Fantasti een for reclaiming control of city and preserving all has been built by father.” While he'd been talking, Stanislav had been peeling his tuxedo off, and no was standing in front of Vitali in a Wildfire mascot uniform (which was little more than a tree costume with flames painted all over it) that Vitali was sure had been far too bulky to fit under the tux. ”Now return to group for eenfortmation on target. Failure for complying weeell have unfortunate results. And, if will excuse me, will be taking my leave”
Before Vitali could say a single thing to the strange man, he had stepped out the locker room door, closing it swiftly behind him. Vitali rushed to the door and pulled it open, seeking answers from the man before he got away. The hallways with strangely empty however, and Vitali shook his head as he returned to his room and grabbed his duffel bag.
At least now he had somewhere to go.
~~~~~~~~~~

The main group was still celebrating their victory (well, all save Percy, who was in fact talking to a miniature snowman) when they reached their dressing room. In what seemed to be a common occurrence in this arena, they barely had time to settle in before the door to their locker room was loudly booted in by the Canadian.

”Yoo played a hell of a game out there, ya' hoseheads” the tuque'd man said with a large grin cracking across his large bearded face. ”Guess I was underestimating yoo, best game I've seen since '93, eh?” The big man sat down on a locker room bench and stretched out. ”Now I suppose yoo're looking for some help with yoor job for the big man up in Fantastico HQ then, eh?”

As the assembled group nodded in agreement, the door was thrown open again as Vitali crashed through it, carrying a large duffel. The Canadian gave him a dirty look as he slowly moved to the back of the group, settling down on a bench on the opposite side of the room from the Canadian, who looked away to continue talking to the group.

”Now Garnet, he's the big moose around here, eh? But I'm sure yoo lot already knew that then, eh?” The group nodded in agreement. ”Used to move the white stuff around for the hoser, I did, but lately, he seems a bit...oof, ya know? Like something's going on in that head of his, don't know what though, but I don't like it” He paused as a couple Wildfire goons dragged a series of duffel bags (and one streetlight) into the room, depositing them along the wall before stepping out.

”Anywhos, ol' Darius is starting to get paranoid. I think he knows that hosehead Fantasti's wanting his city back or something, and he's gone deep. No one's seen him leave the Supa-Fly stadium in weeks, and that place is wrapped up tighter than a Nunavut hooker, yoo know what I mean, eh?”

He continued as the absolute silence confirmed that absolutely no one knew what he meant.

”Going in there straight on, is fixing to get ya' killed, eh? So I had a better idea, then. Garnet's two main distribution houses are a little light on the guards, eh? Been funnelling the hosers off to his arena for a while now. Maybe if yoo went to them, and caused some trooble, he'd be a little less inclined to let them go shortstaffed, eh? Here.” He extended a hand, noticing Katie fiddling with the PDA Stanislav had given them earlier. ”I'll give yoo lot the addresses.

The big fiddled with the PDA for a moment, before tossing to back to Katie.

”Now, yoo play a hell of a game, but yoo killed some of my best boys out there, eh?” His happy demeanour swiftly switched to a more irritable look. ”So, I'd be suggesting to get oot. Now.”

~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 1.4: Some Sort of Hydra Metaphor, Surely
The group assembled outside the arena and Downhouser did a quick headcount. Before the giant man could realize that Danyael was missing, a series of profanities rang out as the leather jacketed ladies' man came running up the group, followed by more shouts from the arena entryway. He gave the group a sly smile as he wiped a lipstick stain off his neck, a shade Katie noted was quite similar to the one Amy le Connard had been wearing. As the profanities finally stopped a loud slam of the arena could be heard, the group turned to Katie and PDA.
A new team member, a new objective, and two new addresses. It was time to get things done. Awesome things.
It had been a nice job too. Three thousand credits. Three. Thousand. Just to ferry a pretty woman across the 'verse. Hardly a tasking job, and certainly better than those damned chickens that had been his last passenger. Jon had really hated those chickens, the cargo bay still smelled slightly off and he'd not really got a good deal of credits for it anyway. But has had happened time and time again, just as things were looking up, they managed to come crashing down. Of course Priscilla had been mysteriously poisoned days before they'd met, otherwise that would have almost been like free money. If there was one thing Jon had learned since finding Destiny, there was no such thing as free money.
Brian had explained the situation to him, mostly in terms he couldn't understand, but Jon got the gist of it, which had certainly been a good thing for Ken. If Ken had poisoned the nice lady that was going to pay his bills for the next few cycles with his “cooking” he'd have been washing that cargo bay until no one could tell they'd been hauling chickens through the Black. Hell, he might see if he could get him to do that anyway, that smell really was annoying.
Jon grinned at the thought, looking over at Ken as he pounded back another of what these locals called “beer”. From the taste of it, Jon was beginning to think that prolonged exposure would result in one joining Priscilla in the hospital, but everything else of this gorram planet was apparently worth more than he cared to pay. With a sigh, Jon raised his glass to his lips and took another swig. It was less than pleasant.
“Ta Ma Duh, this is some horrible swill,” Ken muttered, “it tastes like I washed my underwear in this stuff last week.”
Jon set his glass down, the combination of the taste and mental image Ken provided making another drink rather unappealing.
”You wash?” Jon said with a small laugh, giving the big man a joking punch in the arm. He hardly seemed to notice however, his attention drawn across the cantina.
“Hey Boss, seems someone is interested in us.”
Jon followed his gaze across the room to the man who'd just arrived. His thin frame and twitchy manner initially made Jon uneasy, but his apron identified him as some sort of vintner. In his peripheral vision Jon could see Ken reaching down towards his pistol, which Jon supposed was exactly why he paid the man. Tried to pay him. Always meant to pay him. They really needed a big job soon.
”Alright, we all know the deal, we let Jason and I do the talking.” Jon took a quick second to prep his team as the man walked over to their table. If this was any sort of job, Jon wanted it. He wanted off this gorram planet and he wanted to be making credits while he did so.
"Hi!", the man said with a nervous smile and a nod, "You the crew of that ship out there? The black one? I need a ship that can get some casks of wine to Osiris quickly. I mean real quick. Is it a fast ship? I need a fast ship. Real fast."
Jon was about to respond when Ken cut in.
"It might be," Ken blurted, caused Jon to shoot Tess an exasperated look, "but speed can be expensive."
Before Jon could think too much about making Ken clean chicken shit out of the cargo bay, Jason thankfully stood up and cut in.
“My apologies, I am Jason Siong and you are?” After getting the man’s name Jason continued, “What my friend here was trying to say was yes, as a matter of fact you have managed to find the crew of the black ship outside. Yes, she is fast, but as far as how fast that comes down to you sir. Now, if you’d please have a seat I’m sure that we can come to a mutually beneficial arrangement.”
Jason returned to his seat, and signalled the barkeep for a small round for Jon, the client and himself, and Jon breathed a sigh of relief as he pushed his cup of unpalatable swill over towards Ken's side of the table. As the new arrival made himself comfortable at the table, Jon extended a hand.
”Jon Brown, I captain that black beauty you were referring to.” Jon introduced himself with a grin, ”You said you were looking for a fast ship, and I assure you whether you'll hauling casks or wine or outrunning a reaver boarding party, there's no ship you want save mine. Now I'm not sure why you need wine moved so fast, and I'm sure you can talk plenty about it, but I always found credits talk all for themselves, so what say we cut to the chase here. You give us a where, when and a price, and we'll get to makin' it happen.”
Jon ignored what was sure to be an incredulous look from Jason, who normally handled many of their price negotiations. Jon wanted off this planet, and he wanted to be paid to get this planet. The man struck him as suspicious and the request seemed strange at best, but if he had the credits, Jon would undoubtedly take a run at it. Surely he couldn't hit two bad jobs in a row.
Surely.
