Olan's thoughts for this strip:
Faustus learns a lesson the hard way - just because you *can* stab something doesn't always mean that you should. Sometimes, it is better to run away tactically retreat.

As I frequently do, I will take this opportunity to gush about the art in this comic. I thought that the artist did a wonderful job of capturing the effect as Faustus was hit by the freezing touch. The cold radiating out over the furnace was a nice touch, as well.

Script for this strip:
Steve (narrator): "Summoning his courage, Faustus drives his blade deep into the monster's chest."

Ray: "Cool! Natural twenty!"

Steve (narrator): “The creature treats the wound as if it were a minor irritation, striking the knight with such force that he crashes into a nearby wall.”

Ray: “Wait! Not cool!”

Steve (narrator): “As Faustus tries to gain his feet, the creature grabs him by the shoulder. A terrible cold radiates through the knight’s body, causing his limbs to go completely numb.”

Rich: “Whoa! Chill out, Ray!”
Off camera: “*groan*”
Off camera: “Boo!”

Steve: “Lucky us. Rich is in rare form tonight.”

Ray: “Keep it up, and he’ll be in bruised form!”

Steve (narrator): “With Faustus incapacitated, the monster turns to the furnace. It rests its hands against the outside, causing a coating of frost to form. Soon, the fire itself dies.”

Steve (narrator): “Its mission accomplished, the creature turns and leaves the furnace room, walking past Faustus’ stiff form as if the knight did not exist.”
