is enjoying the adventure which seems well done even though he may not be enjoying the fix he is in.

I think you are doing great, Mr. Dungeonmaster.

needs to write something for Hammer. Captain?

Darque, I understand more, now, as to how this works. Thanks for the patience.

being quite alarmed by what he sees and what may be coming at him, nevertheless being a quick little sucker, and feeling that he can react quicker than that tree, having already secured the satchel, immediately attempts to scamper back at the group. "You can do it, Rat!" he says to himself as he focuses on the quick scamper to safety. He yells "SHOOT!" to the Team. He is only seconds away from needing a gulp of air. He dashes .........

If he is unlucky enough to be "detained", just as he is about to be hit/caught he will toss the satchel on towards the group.

suggests that Hammer does exactly what Anvil does, except with a crossbow out. Hammer did say to direct him if he is not "on line" while he is in the states.

Subject: Rat is on a roll!

The excitement of the moment first grabs Rat. He stops a second gathers his thoughts, drops his knapsack quickly fastening the silver dagger in his belt, and takes out in a very quick scamper, only a feisty Hafling, trained seriously in the mountains for climbing can do. He knows he is fast and a small target, and he knows that he can hold his breath for 60-90 seconds on a run if necessary. While the "fallen member" is being rescued, and while her rescue by a hero adventurer is a diversion, Rat is going to collect that satchel for the group. He hears someone say "got yer back" as he charges.

(It is Rat's intent to run to the satchel, holding his breath, grab it, and bring it back.)

either because he has an old master, or because he is new at this, or because his boss is dense (or all three) does not understand. Are we not allowed to discuss the strategies on this thread, because of roll-playing if the warrior is "down"? Must we "save" the alluring T first, then talk? If so, I am understanding the rest of us have a choice of rescuing her, or doing something else.

If that is true, I recommend, a big guy or two (It will not be more than two, will it?) run and pull her back. Meanwhile, Rat still has an inkling, at the same time, to grab that satchel. (He hs been practicing holding his breath.)

Any other comments, corrections, suggestions for Rat or his old codger boss?

are we waiting on you to post first. In lieu of nothing else, Rat is going to hold his breath, run and grab the satchel.

We do not know yet how to pull the elf back without succombing ourselves. If the breath-holding works .....

with great climbing abilities, grapling hooks and ropes, would be glad to scamper up for a quick look. Being light, he can enter from the lighter limbs outside. He may need a back up arrow trained to help him.

We may also consider throwing something of value (food) up the tree to show implied friendship?

Rat says surround the trees a few feet away, standing alternately opposite directions sideways to watch up the tree AND anything that may want to attack from elsewhere, calling back the dogs.

Was that an implication that halflings smell, DeGotti? Or do you smell a rat? Both use Aqua Velva, you know. Old (actually REALLY old) habits never die.

thinks - it just may be a friend or helpful ally up that tree; with the dogs only barking at it, he suggests proceedind with caution to find what is up that tree. Rat is a great climber and is prepared to go up if it helps. He has hooks and ropes, too. Indeed, he is thinking more in line to give the being a chance to be friendly as a first action.

hears Anvil's directions and trots with the group following the dogs trail. He is ever alert. He will do as directed by the leader or anyone he respects, which is, at the moment, anyone in his group. He will tend to first use a sling which is ever ready, but prefers to swith to his shortsword or the silver dagger - if wereanimal or undead. His blessed cross dangles at his throat. If a battle ensues, he will sneak and go in for backstabs. He is a good sneaker.

waits and watches and listens carefully. He particularly keeps an eye across the ravine as Trillion advised. He is ready to act. He awaits the leaders directions. If no actions are directed he will then clim the nearest tree and watch from above with his sling ready.

(Remember now, guys) I am probably away 10 days - guide Rat well.

says have a happy and safe Indy Day!

Also, Rat is leaving next Wed AM early, and not returning for 10 days. There is some, but probably not good, possibility that he will be able to access and comment from the 9th thru the 19th. (He will try.

Manipulate him as you see fit during that time, Captain.

Topic: Oaks Heart
Subject: Rat prepares to go adventuring .....

It had been a pretty good night. Rat had no trouble sleeping anywhere, but he could wake and spring in a flash if he heard or felt something. He was quick that way. Last night had been no problem. Before he went to bed, he had zipped over to the local storekeeper and procured some garlic, and had stopped at the Temple and had his small cross hanging on the chain on his neck blessed. He also bagged a bottle of holy water. When they started passing out the silver stuff, and someone said "undead", he knew he had better prepare for all that bad population like werewolves, and vampires, and undead, and ...... "Boy, this is gonna be fun!" he thought!
There was a great hubub in the morning as so many townfolks were there for the sendoff. He was given gratus buscuits and butter for breakfast, (He loved a good buscuit and these were FINE.)He stuffed a couple in his bag for the trip.
The adventuring team was all there plenty early. Rat liked that in a team. This was going to go just swell. As they climbed into the assigned wagons at the proper time, Rat was given a hand up to the wagon by the elf Trillian. (The elf also helped T'sal up, probably just so he could cop a feel?) He seemed like a good type, really. Rat was going to enjoy this ride. Yes he was. He knew he would keep his eyes peeled and his quick senses alert during the travel, but he expected no problem due to the size of the town group combined with the adventurers.
His las thought as he hopped up onto the wagon was "Muffins and Sprinkles?!" Were those war dog names nowadays?" Well, they weren't exactly war dogs, but they sure looked more like a Bowser and a Yellow or a Rin Tin Tin to Rat. Oh, well. Dogs were cool.

agrees with previous marching order.
The dogs need to be assigned to an "owner".
They need to know their boss/director/friend. (could be split)
Rat is proficient with (and has) sling/shortsword, but would like a silver dagger
Rat has - rope/grap hooks, wax/string, ribbons (for marking), lockpicks, tinder, flint, and pepper, along with the 40 GP he brought and the 1o he receiver.
He is presuming he will get a health vial.

TO THE QUEST!
