Right flank and left flank ......

Plus, they add height to the party - probably being higher than the two dwarves?

Do they eat vegetables?

looks at each of his new friends - Anvil, Trillian, T'Sal, Hingatuli, two dwarves and two different kinds of elves - and whispers "We gotta help these guys out. Whaddayasay? You guys in?"

Little did he expect the sudden quiet as the crowd quickly silenced when it appeared that no one would step forward. Hence, his whispered words were heard by nearly all at the Bellyful.

All eyes turned to the band of five adventurers in anticipation.

After each nodded a "yes" to the halfling, the crowd broke out in cheers! Some citizens clapped the adventurers on the back. It was apparently a momentous occasion.

The wizard elf, Trillian, being the tallest of the group, stepped up to Mayor Brassile and said, "Where do we sign up, Sir?"

Guys, I put a quick response up for us just to open the adventure. I hope you do not mind, in that all I really did was accept.

I will be away for 4 days, not able to access the internet, with a very sick mother in the hills of Southern Indiana. I expect to be back Sunday night. Feel free to include me and, or, speak for me. If my vote is needed for action, to break a tie, then I vote with the only gal in the group. She sure be a purdy thang.

at the Bellyfull and he spots a dwarf strongman and a smart-looking elf on the steps chatting in an introductory manner. He says to himself "I'll just bet the are adventurers who just met and are discussing teaming up. They look like the type of people I'd like to be around." So the halfling hustles on over and introduces himself, hoping that this is the beginning of something good.

Subject: Wandering in to Oaks Heart is

RAT, a plain-looking, nondescript, but strong-looking halfling, was homeless and nicknamed as Rat from near birth. Growing up in the wild near mountains, with the help of a group of elderly rogues, he became proficient at pick pocketing and lock picking for survival. But his passion was mountain exploration, hence his proficiency in climbing and ropes, especially difficult peaks. Rat is a quiet sort, believing actions speak louder than words. He shies from battle, mostly due to his size, choosing instead the route of a sneak and a thief. He is true neutral, believing there needs to be a balance in all in nature. He is a dependable sort, when he wants to be, but his early environment taught
him to take care of number one first. He has no past girlfriends and, indeed, is shy and inexperienced at things
like love and sex. (But he is willing to learn!)
Rat will certainly be waiting on the steps of the Bellyfull when the mayor returns to tell the town about the problem. He is sure he can be helpful to a group that wants to adventure into the unknown and make it known,

Rat found Oaks Heart and will be "constructed" shortly. He is a halfling Thief - very similar to Sentinel (just not as small)

Topic: An Evil in Orlane
Subject: Group one checks out the basement doors

Having checked the basement thoroughly for clues, traps, hidden doors and booty, and finding three good kegs of wine, the group proceeds to check out the two smaller basement doors which may have been storage of sort. Sentinel asks Deathstalker to come on down to help and it will be gnomie Fandil The Wise's job to keep at peripheral watch on the steps whilst opening the doors. They move a table next to the wall, but between the doors and set the lit lantern on it for general light. Fandil gives the lit torch to Sentinel who will quietly and quickly check the doors (order north, then east)for traps and quietly and open with torch in off hand. If lockpicking is required, he will do so quietly. If door one cannot be opened quietly he will go on to door two. While Sentinel tries to open the door/s, all will arrange in a semicircle for best protection if danger quickly lurks. Those with bows (e.g. Oriel) will train on the opening and will be in the center of the semicircle. If neither door opens quietly, then Sentinel will direct Deathstalker to "bang" open one door. If Deathstalker fails, Oriel will try. The same will occur for banging open door two, but the warriors will try to kick it open in reverse order. Once a first door is opened, Sentinel will stick the torch in and cautiously and quickly look around beig prepared to get out of the way if danger. If it looks reasonably safe, Sentinel will enter and look for traps, hidden doors, before allowing others to look/enter. The same occurs for door two.
Clues will be looked for, booty will be collected and taken.
If there is a path, or secret trail, they will exit the room, shut the door and talk about how to proceed. If there is no trail, they will take whatever booty up with the three kegs and load the wagon. (/i)

Sentinel The Small says, "Let's put the lantern on a table and check out these two pantry-type doors. I'll do the honors. Back me up, guys!" He takes the torch from Fandil and sends Katai quietly up to Deathstalker to ask him to come on down and help out. "Fandil, keep a partial eye on those steps just in case, you hear?"

"Everyone ready?" he whispers.

Some doors can open by anyone
Some need bashing/kicking
Some need unlocking ....

Since it has been decided to do it "quietly", we should first try to ull/push it quietly (already determined unlocked) then use your "strength" opening, don't you think?
I would rather safely prepare for what may come out, first - we will get the doors open one way or another - it is only if someone is "in there" or a tunnel somewhere that it really matters

planning on posting tonight - 12 hours

will wait for at least one more confirmation before posting (prob Thur night)

would plan to have big guy kick open doors, one by one - bows/slings lined up - and jump aside - forcing them to come into room if something there or get arrows and slings from minor distance - if tunnel, we close door and open 2nd door to check out - then decide on how to proceed
