Subject: big bada boom

Frisco, Day Nine 11:10 pm Planet Time

Winnie didn't mind dying, as long as she took the man who killed her baby Brother with her. She knew the wound was bad, real bad and that she wouldn't last long. But this kid had been on every woman in town since he got here (save her of course) so she was sure that he'd fall for this. Rescue the damn princess and she'll go all Meh Lien Duh Jyah Jee for you.

She held the grenade clutched behind the two hands on her stomach as if clutching her wound. The pin was already pulled, but she had to make sure he was close enough. The kid came into the room and made sure her weapons were out of reach. She moaned and sighed, "Oh Buddha. It hurts so bad." Come here you gorram Yi Dwei da Buen Chuo Roh he looked at her as he moved closer but then he moved away as fast as he looked.

“Winnie this shouldn’t have happen, that gorram Jien Huo bitch Bridgett been lying and getting folks to do what they shouldn’t, this ain’t the first time she’s used folks to do her dirty work and then left them to die. I’ll bet she staged that bank robbery just to get the council folks to hurry up and hire her partner as sheriff. Your brother would probably still be alive if it weren't for her. You should have shot her instead of me. We didn’t come here to cause you no trouble but she did. Oh Winnie hold on I’ll go down and call Doc."

Winnie couldn't believe it! Surely he couldn't see the grenade! He wasn't acting it like it. Why wasn't he coming close. She wanted to grab him,. to see his eyes when she dumped the package in his lap.

Ash ran back out the office and rushed back up the stairs. As he passes the bed, he paused and picks up her communicator. Looking down he says, “Winnie, Doc’s on his way, you hold on, just lay still”. She tried to move, to raise her hand to grab him or say something about holding her but he ran upstairs. Outside she could hear Darryl's speeder outside and automatic gun fire. She felt so weak suddenly. She wished that she could be ion the swing outside the farm one last time and listen to the wind through the trees.

As consciousness left Winnie, so did her hold, and her hand released the grenade, which rolled off her belly, and onto the sheets - the spoon separating as it did.

As Fenris and Andrew start to move in order to make their plan work, Ash said softly over the communicator, “Doc’s on his way; there’s a hurt lady on the second floor and there’s somethun noisy out front. Be careful. I’ll try to cover ya, topside.”

Andrew ran out towards the slowing hover vehicle and opened fired at the driver. The shots go into the mule and not the man, but now the man behind the wheel swings the wheel wildly to get Andrew in the sights of the chain gun.

Fenris moves to the other side of the street and his prone on one knee as the driver makes the fatal mistake. He opens up with the assault rifle in a controlled burst. The man's head jerks to the side and his body shakes with the impact of the bullets. Losing control, the junker tilts sideways and then the side drops, causing it to roll. Fenris dives out of the way as it bounces side over side and the end over end until crashing upside down in the centre of the main street.

Fenris and Andrew look to each other in triumph. If the brother survived the gun wound, the crash would have ended him. Just then your communicators light up to Ash's voice “Doc’s on his way; there’s a hurt lady on the second floor and there’s somethun noisy out front. Be careful. I’ll try to cover ya, topside.”

BBOOOMM!

Suddenly the top floor and the lookout tower of the jail explode in a powerful ball of flames. The roadway is littered with debris and wood chips. Electronic feedback squelches across your communicator and then goes silent as a grave.

Hornsilver Mine, Regina, Frisco, Day Nine 11:17 pm Planet Time

"Let's go." Wyatt said looking down the corridor and turning on a flashlight.

Willow puts her hand out to signal a "hold on" and the crouch down as if she is planning something. Once Sam and Wyatt are down she goes to the opposite wall to call out "Well now Bridget, where's the welcome wagon? Having me come down here into the dark don't feel much like we're sharing, now does it? Maybe I should just take my boys elsewhere and sell this key and code to the highest bidder. I've got hooks into some pretty deep pockets, I do not need to be treated like this."

For a moment there is no answer except the occasion drip of water on stone. Then Bridget's voice comes clearly from down the corridor, crisp but with an edge of ...fear? frustration? Hard to tell with the echo, "Well that's a good thing to hear Sister, your voice that is. I didn't think you were coming. Follow the drift to the end of the old shaft. I'm waiting on you sugar and I think we will have enough fortune to shave without you selling the key."

As you are about to move, Wyatt's and Sam communicators erupt in Electronic feedback that is loud and piercing. It dies out quickly but the noise cause the shaft to rumble and dirt to fall from the rafters and shorn up walls.

"Rung Tse Fwo Tzoo Bao Yo Wuo Muhn! What was gorram that? This shaft ain't too sturdy so you best shut off whatever you got making those noises!" Bridgit calls out harshly.

Topic: Weird War II Q n A
Subject: Okay!

First off, I would like to thank Tann for the research and work that he put into this list. I truly appreciate it. I made my life a lot easier. As to the brass knuckles, I did copy and paste Sarge's list to Brutal so it will be fixed now.

So let's break this down and move on. Now I don't play encumbrance hard and fast but there is probably a common sense limit to the number of weapons a soldier can carry, especially long arms. In my mind, that would be two, one in hand, one on back before you'd start tripping over things. so everyone (except Greta) is assumed to be wearing:

Helmet
Jacket/Pants (Reinforced)
Jump Boots
Suspenders
Pistol Belt
First Aid Pouch w/ Carlisle Bandage
Canteen w/ Cover
Gas Detection Armband
Musette Bag
Entrenching Tool
Paratrooper Gloves
Supplemental tie-on First Aid Kit
Ammo Pouch (holds 4 mags)

Now each of you has the following (after combat with the gargoyles) weapons and ammo (I was generous all things considered and rounded up on what you had). I made some decisions on placement (like giving the one thompson to the captain). If there are no strident objections, I will reassign the equipment.

Captain Luke Edintore (Almerin)
Fighting Knife w/ M8 Scabbard
M1A1 Carbine w/ Folding Stock with 3 mags (10 each)
Thompson SMG w/1 clip
A compass
A pair of Carl Zeiss Jena Binoculars 8 X 24 with leather carrying case
Keys to car, briefcase and cabin
Heavy flashlight

Master Sgt Troy Romo (Tann'Talas)
2 .45 acp 1911’s (in duel shoulder holsters w/3 clips each/1 loaded 2 extra)
Thompson SMG w/5 clips/1 loaded 4 extra)
One MP40 (Schmeisser) with three full clips (32 rounds per clip)
1 round drum for Thompson (30 rounds left)
1 Fragmentation Grenade
2 Brass Knuckles
Fighting Knife w/ M8 Scabbard
black overcoats, leather
Wallet ($100 RM, some ID)
Heavy flashlight

Corp. Jake ‘Brutal’ Clements (YeOlde)
Fighting Knife w/ M8 Scabbard
One .45 Caliber Pistol with holster (one clip loaded, two extra)
1 Thompson SMG w/3 clips/1 loaded 2 extra)
Thompson Ammo pouch (The 4 extra clips here)
One Drum 50 rd Thompson
1930 Sauer 12g Double barrel Shotgun, two boxes of 12 double aught buck shells (22)
MP40 (Schmeisser) 2 full clips
1930's Sauer 12g double barreled shotgun, 12 double aught buck shells (22)
Fragmentation Grenade
Heavy flashlight

Cpl. John Stewart (Doc) Reid, (Odyson)
2X .45 Caliber Pistol with holster
Five colt handgun clips (in bag)
M1A1 Carbine w/ Folding Stock (4 mags of 10)
Two rifle pouches holding five magazines each
few match boxes, some candles, a bar of soap, a silver hip flask, and some iodine
a 1917 Beholla 7.65mm automatic pistol with a separate 7 round mag and a box of 93
Two bottles of booze labeled "weinbrand", one full and one half gone

Private First Class Corban McGuinness (Nomad D2)
USMC M1903-A1/Unertl (x8 optical)
Colt M1911A1 - (pistol - 7 round magazine - .45ACP)
One Gewehr 98 rifle (old -1898, but well cared for, holds five rounds) with 100 rounds in box
Ammo Pouches - (belt)
- Two rifle pouches holding 4 magazines each (10/clip)
- One pistol pouch holding 2 magazines (7/clip)
One Bayonet with metal belt holster

1 G41 rifles with 4 clip (10 rounds)
One hunting crossbow with 7 quarrels (on back)
One bayonet (on side as knife)

Left in the car:
One briefcase locked, paperwork inside
Three G41 rifles
One bayonet with metal belt holsters
A tool kit with various tools (Hammer, pliers, screwdrivers, hacksaw)

Topic: Conan
Subject: Conan

Well I went to see Conan this week. I'd like to start the review by saying I never thought any of the Arnold versions were worth watching and a recent TV revival of them has only proven that theory to me.

No one goes to Conan expecting academy award winning performances. That said, the film was okay, not great but okay. It has lots of fights scenes, action and sword swinging. It requires a lot of suspension of disbelief and the time line is really rough (Conan leaves evil place, goes to city, gets a friend and come back and the bad guys are just leaving the place. Hmmmmm...) Combat is filmed in that herky jerky style that is popular now and I really don't like as it is hard to tell who is killing whom.

It is another film that is done in 3d and has no reason to be. It just makes the film dark and hard to see.

So, if you like sword and sorcery movies with big guys, lots of topless women, a thin plot line and bad lighting - enjoy.

At least this guy can sorta act like a barbarian.

Sam see a pit in front of you.

Mei Wen Ti Captain,” Jason replied turning to the Comm station and keying it up to send out the wave What the hell in for a penny… “Port Authority this is fast courier Destiny, we are breaking orbit and entering our burn cycle now as per our flight plan,” Jason smiled and continued, “Sheh sheh Greenleaf control and have a nice day.”

As soon as Jason took his hand away from the comm, the panel lit up like a Festivus day parade.

“ATTENTION ALL SHIPS DEPARTING FROM GREENLEAF. ALL SHIPS ARE TO DELAY DEPARTURE AND PREPARE TO BE BOARDED. WE HAVE A FUGITIVE SITUATION WANTED BY FEDERAL MARSHALLS. YOU COOPERATION IS APPRECIATED. THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY.” is the message from port authority. Then sensors show weapons lock on Destiny, and the warning klaxon sounds and the follow “hail” comes from the cruiser.

“Attention Courier vessel Destiny. This is the Erikson Alliance cruiser. Please prepare for boarding and have all personal available for questioning in the cargo bay. You have 20 seconds to power down your engines.” it is a pleasant feminine voice that delivers the message by it doesn’t change the tone.

Elsewhere on the Ship

“Where are we going Doc?” Ken asked the Doctor

“The passenger rooms. Quickly too, something is wrong.” She replies ominously.

Ken paused momentarily in the passage long enough to thumb on the intercom to the engine room. “Grace… we have a problem… meet us on utility deck “

"I'll see you guys there." The young engineer replied.

The doctor lead Ken and Grace up to the passengers rooms on the upper desk and directly into the room where the companion had been staying. The room is a mess but not surprising as she did depart in a hurry and no one had thought about coming back to clean up. Stephaine goes to the bed and moves the covers and pillows away and points underneath the bed. “There is something under the bed, pushed to the back so, I believe, we wouldn’t see it.”

Ken and Grace look at each other and then lean over to look under the bed. There is a small attaché case there. The locks are bolted and there is a small light near the handle that is pulsing red – meaning the case has a power source.

“Why would she hide something of hers on out ship?” Dr. Young muses. “Oh bother! The captain is going to need you two.”

Suddenly, the annoyingly loud klaxon goes off warning that the ship has been targeted by another ship.

the cortex rules makes skills very general for the purpose of allowing for some overlap. You may not be good \at everything but you'd have a general idea. Like Mal using a sword. He probably knows the basics (pointy end goes into person) but he doesn;t have the finesse level of skills.

Anyway- it might have saved Asher life so we will let it go. I think when the campaigns ends soon, and you get advancement points, we can re-look at the skills and the new traits.

Vanadia - I will do my best to get home tonight asap. Last time I did a focus group they didn't need me so I got paid and went home.

Not sure you really want to take these guns as a hood ornament.

1) highly illegal and would restrict the use of the HM on most planets

2) held together with duct tape and spot welding. You know what happens to both when they get hot.

3) you would have to rewire the controls completely

4) we are talking redneck ugly.

5) did I mention the duct tape?

as to cal, these rules really aren't set up for different cal per damage.

Odyson - I can not believe you actually didn't try to perform some sort of first aid on Winnie. Not even a bandage or something! OMG! Pressure on the Wound! Anything!

I forbid you to change it because it is so funny considering what will happen next.

Subject: The eyes have it

There were 8 gargoyles (8 "sets" of eyes)and you have destroyed them all.

The Doc has three deep claw wounds in his shoulder. They are approx. 4 inches long going from shallowon the back up to gouges near the collarbone. He is bleeding badly, and the wound shows signs of particulate matter within - small micro-barbs that were on the surface of the talon. He also has some bruising and scrapes from being dropped but no broken bones.

In the Light/Serious/Critical world of D&D rules, I would say that the Doctor is seriously wounded.

Not sure everyone sounded off on equipment. I want to put this issue to bed so by end of day I hope to properly list everyone equipment and ammo.

I have not posted the ammo used yet in the combat but I will.

Side note: I picked up the Supernatural RPG rules the other day. Wish I had them when I started this as they would have worked well here.

Subject: doc need a doc

The gargoyles swirled around making it hard to draw a bead on a target. They dive down and move across the room at such speed, they almost blurred as they let out a high pitch squeal.

Brutal opens up on full auto, trying to hit the flying creatures. Although he knows that he hit one at least four times, it still flies and brings itself down and across, directly through his allies. Brutal's lightning reflexes saves him from accidently gunning down the Sarge and Captain. As it curls up, the corporal puts another 6 bullets into the thing before it drops to the ground and stops moving.

“Everybody back to the courtyard! The door will function like a funnel!” the captain calls out.

Brutal, Doc, Corban and Sarge move to the wall and back towards the doorway along with Luke, Firing in short bursts or single shots as they retreat backwards to the door. Greta shoulders her rifle and fumbles with her bag as she runs to the doorway. The gargoyles take direct hits as you retreat and one more drops to the ground from combined fire or Romo and Corban.

Just as you think you will make it, one of the gargoyles swoops in and gets it clutches upon the Doc. Claws rip through the flesh of his left shoulder and he is snatched upwards. Romo moves to the doctor and fires a control burst, blowing the head of the gargoyle to pieces. Reid drops to the ground. Greta steps in front of the doctor and cries out :Get out of here. I'll hold them" and brings out a cigarette lighter.

A cigarette lighter? You all wonder for a moment what she plans to do with that when she presses a button on the side and a jet of flame fires out, engulfing a diving monster. The squeal is intense but it crashes to the ground, thrashing around.

Romo hauls the Doc out to the outer room as Great fires her lighter once more than again. the jet lesses with each use and finally she clicks twice, then tosses the lighter as she dives across the room and through the door.

The gargoyles charge after Greta, anger and enraged but the threat of flames. As the first two come down, they are overwhelmed by the salvo of bullets from the unit. The third flies back into the main room.

There is a long moment, a few minutes where you wait. The doc is in pain and needs help badly.

"That was a Byakhee!" Great says, "According to legend it can ...."

*PFAFFF*

"TELEPORT!"

Suddenly the creature appears behind you, moving at full speed. Talons stretched out to grab the Sarge. However Corban has his rifle ready and fires a rapid succession of rounds into the creatures head. Brutal reacts out of instinct and fires as well until it drops to the ground, unmoving.

OOC: Corban's trustworthy gut gave him a feeling that something was coming from the other way and Brutal's lightning reflexes served to react in time.

Doc has taken 7 stun damage and 7 Life wounds (out of 17). He is conscious but in a lot of pain.

YeOlde - the Hover thing is swerving and slowing down to stop. At the point of my post it hasn't stopped yet. A Hmule uses antigrav and inertia dampners to travel and stopping is reduction of dampener. Soem HM can stop on a dime. This thing doesn't seem to dampen very well.

Ody - There are Vidcomm's (like Patience's used in the Pilot) Yes there would be one in the jail and it would have an "autodial" function for the doc.

Tann - You have transport to the mine. Your own hovermule. Probably more reliable that the piece of go-sa heading your way.
