Just poping in to introduce myself. I am a friend of Shaithis' who convinced me to give this a shot.

I have TONS of PnP experience (started with original red box DnD when I was 9, I thought I was so cool cause the box said for ages 10+ ) about 21 years or so (oops, just dated myself didn't I ) but I have never tried a play by post system.

I am married (7 years) to another new member as well, Whitinator and we have 2 children (one 5 and the other is 1) and for that reason, I hear this is the system for me.

Anyways, just wanted to say hi and thanx to all the guys running and maintaining a site like this for RPers to use and play around on.

I came over to the RDInn about 2 months ago as a first time D&D player with a group of dueling friends [from a PBM game we have played for many years together] and somewhere along the way I got acquainted with some of the other inmates in this asylum and found myself joining several adventures!

It's so nice to see people joining again! We hit a rough patch about two years ago (I've been here since about 2001) where there was nothing going on.

But you definitely joined at the right time. I would argue this is the most active we've ever been, and summer usually gets stronger when school is out.

Join a game or two. Start with free form just to get the hang of playing online and then find a new D&D game starting up.

Oh, and don't feed any of the Grugg's running around... especially that big one.

You`ll find that you are amongst good company. A goodly number of us are married with kids... I`m guessing you and I are roughly the same age (31 for me), and I`ve got ya beat of the kids part! (Actually, I have most folks beat on the kids part. Haha!) Number 5 just came today! Mine kids are ages 7 y/o, 5 y/o, 3 y/o, 1.5 y/o, and 16 hours old. (Almerin would have you believe I`m building my own army, but pay no attention to that!)

And you are correct! Play-by-post is a great and flexible way to continue gaming while managing a young family. While games tend to be slower paced than table-top, in most of the games here, you will find the depth of the story richer. At least that is my experience.

A add my "Welcome to the Inn" to you and your clan. Innmates us an apt name for those of us here, because sometimes it gets crazy-crazy. But most of us (with the exception of Grugg, maybe) are intelligent and fun people.

I am new to this venue as well, but not new to gaming (25+ years of D&D and various other systems under my belt). Nonetheless, I still look forward to th opportunity to game with you (or agin ya, as DM)

Four kids has actually been a really good time... tough to say how five will be. Bad time to ask now, too, what with feeds every three hours and nasty tar-poo. (Sorry, folks.)
