Deployment
Tired and adjusting to eleven hr time zone difference but am good. Am laid over in Kuwait but will be moving to Iraq shortly. To my brothers and sisters here at the inn, wish me best.

Best of luck Vesper.
My nephew was at Balad for 18 months guarding convoys across the desert 2-3 times a week. He's back home now with his family.
Listen to the advice of those who are there and have experience and you'll be fine

Update
Things have been pretty much quiet over here. There haven't been any casualties from my batallion, but there have been a couple of incidents.
ONE: One of our trucks was hit be an IED, inflicting minor damage on the vehicle but inflicting no injuries.
TWO: I was hit by a sniper round. It only inflicted minor injuries, a little bruising and an abrasion that removed several layers of skin, due to it being stopped by my sapi plate. Never again will I complain about the weight of my PPE and won't ever stand for anyone else doing it either.

Sorry to hear about that, but maybe you'll have good luck for the rest of your stay. Here's hoping!

So happy you're ok. Stay low and safe.
If you don't mind my asking...how old are you?

Update
I am 22 if you must know. Staying low isn't necessarily in my job description. I am a grunt, an infantryman. Eol knows what that one is like. We pretty much do most of the more dangerous work, leave the wire the most. Having spent the last few days recuperating, I am doing quite well. My bruise is gone and the abrasion I received (similiar to a bad rug burn), is over half way healed up.
Thanks for the support, even though I know I haven't been the most active person in the last several months.

Joining ya soon
I will be over that way in June/July for a second trip. Just try your best to not come see me. I work in the hospital and I am happiest when we are bored and have no patients; it means you guys are all safe.

Wow
So many Innmates getting shipped out and coming back and all manner of things in between. Good luck to you all, and come back safe to where it was you left.
Also, I know someone who got shot by a sniper, impressive.

it's nice
To see everyone overseas come home safe.
Myself, it's possible I'll end up a seaman in the USCG. Good luck to everyone in the desert, and come home safe.
Versper, Army or USMC?
