My fellow innmates.

I think the time is well overdue for this proposal, I propose an Avatar Free Form game. Set on Pandora, of cause, I think it would be fun to set the game at around about when the Avatar program started on Pandora so a good number of years before the film is actually set.

It's obviously the GMs choice what he or she permits but I would like the chance to play as a scientist in an Avatar rather then a soldier or one of the Na'vi. I am no GM, numerous attempts have proved this, but I am an enthusiastic player and if a game does start I will positively pour my heart and soul into it and my character because of fast approaching (v. v. good) events in my life.

If you have seen the film and are interested in playing or want to give a stab at running the game then please please post and show your interest.

EDIT: I have the survival guide as well so I would consider myself well informed about the setting which I think I can happy classified as Alternate Earth despite the fact it's set over 100 years into the future on a different planet.

To be honest with you, I have considered a game on Pandora. I'm not part of the great big Avatar hype, and lately James Cameron has struck me like a walking personification of the term 'ego'. Still, the world was beautiful, and I'd like to try my hand at something a little more science fiction than pure Sword and Sorcery.

If I would run a game, it would be a while though before it started. And it most likely wouldn't be running with only human characters, would take place after the film's story was done and focused on exploring more of what Pandora has to offer, or what it could offer in my imagination.

The situation as I see it now: Humans are back on Pandora, this time with better intentions.
The story: there is another tribe of Pandora natives (Na'vi or otherwise), who have captured a group of Na'vi hunters and now use them as slaves.
You could play Humans, Humans in Avatar form or Na'vi.
The goal is to go and rescue the Na'vi hunters.

Anyway, this is all hypothetical, since I'm not starting a game as of yet. But you are free to grab the idea and run with it.

One of the alien clans enslaving another doesn't sound like something that could happen on a planet where everything is connected by some spiritual entity that is actually the consciousness of the planet's flora and fauna and actuly resides in the sentient native species.

But hay, I'm am Avatar geek.

I love the sound of your game and if you ever get anything together and there are more players interested I'd be game.

I had the same conflict at first, but I assumed that in every natural environment where species live together there is symbiosis and parasitism. So though most of the species live in some form of harmony, there will always be things like food-chains and hierarchy. And while the na'vi are peaceful and harmonious towards their environment, some other tribe or race might not be so consciously humble.

But you certainly have a point there.
Also, I don't own the field guide, and would rather make things up. So maybe you'd be better off doing the game yourself.

Wow I can't believe I'm bringing this back after almost 4 months. I love the avatar movie. I saw it almost as soon as it came out. I have seen at least a dozen times now and it is still my favorite of the past few years.

When I joined this site I wondered if someone made a game of avatar yet anyways and now that I found oe I'd love to play.

Although, even though I love Avatar I dont know everything about it. I know most of the stuff out of the movie but that's it. If you still want to do this game count me in but I need to know more like character sheets and what not.

All in all this is a great idea in my opinion and I'd love to take part in it.

I can't belive someone is bringing this back either. Hopefully we can drum up some interest.

Still want to get a Avatar freeform going if anyone is brave enough to GM it or wants to play.

With all the games I'm currently in, I don't have time immediately, but this game is still on my list of to do things. But it will take a while, so if you guys want to jump start it, give it a go.

As Eol said: It's freeform. The best freeform games have started from a few guys having fun together. If you're with two already, perhaps others would join?

The latest news concerning Avatar 2, btw, is that a big part of it will take place underwater. I don't know if an underwater setting would make for great gaming, but it might.

Well it seems that I'm a bit unknowing of what is meant by a freeform.

I'm all up for it, give me some time and I'll get my first post up and we can see from there. Just so you guys know in advance I'm going to be taking the role of a scientist who has an avatar, but apart from that it should branch away from the films script. The way I see it there are only 3/4 types of people you can be, a mercenary, a scientist, a Na'vi or one of the corporate type people... but I very very much look forward to reading of any other types of people out on Pandora and reading the explanations to why they are on the planet.

i would love to join, but unfortunately, my... surroundings (almost sounds like jail doesnt it? oops.. lol)... will prohibit me from doing so for the near/forseeable future... however, at the end of that time period, if the game is still going, i would love to join in... its a great movie, and offers a ton of rp options
