Character Obsessions

We all have our characters we love more than our own thumbs, be it the first Dwarven Warrior you made or the halfling thief/mage you've been playing since the dawn of time, or even that NPC you made and decided you liked so much you were going to make them a PC in your next game.

My question is what's the story behind these characters? What lengths have you gone to obsessing over every little detail about them? Go ahead and brag about them. <3

I tend to do this frequently but what sparked this thought was my most recent character obsession, which happened to be a drow character. (I can hear you booing, cut it out.)

His name is Tebdaer Suldaim'Roos and he's NOT a renegade Drow. He's played canon as they are described in the books, so that ultimately makes him an evil character. He's not without morals, but they're incredibly loose and he's a very freeing character to play because he's so unapologetic. He's a Dread Fang of Lolth (very cool Drow class, check it out if you're a fan of the race.)

I didn't realize I was obsessing over him until I spent THREE HOURS the other night thinking about a little detail about him. As a Drow male he lives in a matriarchal society, and like most young men he has had his moments of less than perfect behavior. I got to thinking that it would be very plausible that at some point a priestess took exception and carved the vows he took when he was inducted as a Dread Fang into his back. This made the wonder what sort of Vows those would be.

So I wrote some up.

And Translated them into Drowic language. The vocabulary was taken from This Page and a friend and I translated it using their scant grammar rules and Sindarin sentence structure rules. This took about two hours to do because there's so little information about the Drow language that is actually canon.

Basically we took this:

Leaving House and Goddess will lead to Death.
May my blade be guided (by Lolth is implied.)
I serve the will of Lolth.
Obedience is my duty.
Duty is my purpose.
Spider Queen, Test Me.

and turned it into this:

Elghinn zhah ael quellar lueth Quarval-sharess.
Xal usta velve mrigg
Rothrl zhah usstan quarthas
Quarthas zhah usstan dros'he
Orbb Valsharess, Zud'dar Ussa

Then we looked up to see if the drow had a written script. Turns out apparently they do. Info Here
So we turned that mass of gibberish into this:

So now I know what the scarification on his back would look like. That's the only reason I did it.

What's your character obsession story?

Edit: OMG Huge picture. Have to scale down.
