..... is that Halfliings have Dusk Vision and that Fredrico would be confident that this ability of Drog and Seg Kargar are sufficient for any warnings of suspicious activity to the sides or behind the 3rd wagon they are driving, since it will be a much slower pace.
Actually, the truth of the matter is that Fredrico knows that this particular pair of Halflings have an uncanny ability to see in the dark up to 60 feet (Dark Vision) which is why he has them driving the last wagon.
Fredrico may or may not disclose this information, but Drog and Seg Kargar would be able to 'see' any Kobald archers once they were in range to unleash any arrows!
They have proven this ability a number of times during the journey to Sherrill and Fredrico may not be sharing this info merely because he has become so accustomed to this fact that it does not even cross his mind to explain his reasoning for not being too concerned about the safety of the last wagon should the guards be on foot.
So Another Consideration is if you 3 decide to keep pressing on towards Lasch, what possible order would be leading the wagons?
Fredrico will want his remaining guards to do just that, serve as guards even on foot and would rather the Dwarf and Elf be leading the procession with their sight abilities, comfortable that Drog and Seg Kargar have the rear under proper surveillance ... and quite possibly would want Sir Cal to ride alongside his wagon and Rextugenous to walk alongside the wagon driven by Lars.
This way there would be a line of communication established from front to back (Cal and Rex being on the left side of the wagon and able to converse with Fredrico and Lars respectively).
