Hoping to have a post for Haze today... work took a major jump up, yesterday, so I wasn't able to get around to it, then.

No problem.  I've been quite awful lately, haven't posted in something like 2 weeks....  I've had time just have had difficulty putting words to paper

Time for research

Ok, Imulse, some questions for you.

1.  How would Castle go about researching the electrical effect thing?  He is wondering if this type of link has been noted before anywhere.  Since he is a college prof I'm thinking research is right up his alley.  i'd assume he has some books at home as well.  He does have academic, computer and investigation skills.  Is there some place that would have research info on the occult.  The city library, his university library and the internet are all starting places.  Is there anywhere else locally he would know about?

2.  Is there a way to get the info from the electric company?

Answers!

1) So there's a variety of ways you could go about this.  you would definitely have access to books about this in the school library if not your house.

Concerning research to the occult, heck yea, you have a bunch of books, I think you research medevial studies so for sure you could attempt to see if there's any folk lore.

Concerning elctrical company...

googling online, you could take a look at areas of extended blackouts that have been issues to places prior.  However that only tells you big blackouts that are unable to resolved within a few hours.

The electrical company would be a good way to get information but they are unlikely to give you that information without incentive.  If you would like, you can say Castle knows a colleague that you fell out of touch with that worked in the electrical business. I'd just have to ask you to make a roll to see how well he likes you

other than that, you could break into the records, disguise your way into the building or a variety of other ways that I have not thought up yet.

Research

Yes, Castle's PhD is essentially medieval studies.  I can give you the title again if you want.    (Wow!  That is a lot more emoji then we had available a few weeks ago!)

Lets make that role for the old friend who worked for the electric company - how do you want to handle the rolls?

*Also - On my last post I assumed that since Castle is an associate professor at Durham College that he probably had rights at all of the local university libraries - like the Univeristy of Toronto.  In my experience most colleges have such regional agreements, but I can obviously change that assumption if it proves incorrect in Canada.

haha yea I'm digging the new formatting for chats, I disliked HTML

Concerning the rolls,  I'm actually porting over a mechanic from another system.  you got 3d6, roll em and for each result upwards of 4, that coutns as a success.

You know this guy so let's say you can roll 3d6 and if you get 2 successes, he's a friend from old that is happy to hear from you and do a favour.

You get 1, he forgets who you are but can be persuaded to do a favour for you at a cost

you get a 0, well that's a bit of a surprise  You know him and can contact him but there might be a complication

If you get a 3, he was one of those friends that considered you his best friend but maybe you didn't feel the same way.  either way, he's definitely willing to do a favour for you.

You can roll it IRL, electronically or you  can let me roll it electronically.  Entirely up to you.  i trust my players

As for the libraries, that makes sense.  I got no clue how it functions IRL but to make it easier, I"m just gonna devaite from IRL when necessary.  I post infrequently enough, doing research into that might make the posts even longer in between.

Dice rolls

It is up to you entirely.  Go ahead and do the rolls if you want.

Assumptions

I assumed Castle had Wifi, hope that is ok.  I just can't imagine that he wouldn't.

Likewise - his family home was part of the orginal writeup and since it is a family home on the oldest street in town it seems like a couple spare bedrooms would be a given. Let me know if I'm wrong.

You rolled a 3, 1, and a 4.

You recall a student of yours, someone who was confused about what to do with the rest of their lives.  they had briefly bounced back and forth between studies, however he seemd to turn his life around about 5 years ago.  He had just graduated from engineering and you recall a collegue of yours speaking about him a few months ago.

His name is Jonathan M'cloade, and you are able to find him on facebook after about 10 to 15 minutes of searching.
