You must let me know what ye think of it, Gruggness. I have a good laugh whenever I watch it. Very tongue-in-cheek. It has become me and said friend's "buddy movie" to watch when we can't think of anything else.

Just went to see Wanted today. It's a good movie if you're looking for an action movie. Kind of a cross between the Matrix and Equilibrium (if you've ever seen it) with some decent car action.

Sorry, have to disagree.

Equilibrium is one of my favorite movies, and the Matrix is, of course, a classic now. So I'm not genre-biased.

And Wanted is, in my opinion, god-awful.

Seriously, the plot was horrible (weaver-assassins?! wtf?), and the action sequences made it absolutely impossible to suspend your disbelief. People were shooting, and the bullets curved because they were slinging their arms a certain way. Bullets blocked bullets. The laws of physics don't apply in this movie.

Does that make for a bad movie outright? Well no - but the Matrix had a plot outline that facilitated that kind of thing. It's a computer program. Okay, I buy that. In Wanted, however, we're supposed to believe that they can pull off these Matrix-style stunts...in the real world...in the modern day. Riiiight.

And the plot is predictable.

Laaaaame.

I pretty much agree, but it is enjoyable for people going just for a fast paced action movie.

Also the plot did suck, but then again, most people won't care.

Forget Wanted, if you havn't seen it, See it now. This is the movie from which Christian Bale's Resume guaranteed him the part as the new Batman, I'm convinced.

I gotta say Equilibrium is truly the sh!t. One of the best movies I've ever seen.


And Sean Bean does what he does best.

Took my family out to see Wall-E last night. Fabulous. Pixar has again made a delightful film. I was laughing half the time and the other half I was holding my breath for the little robot. There are some odd inconsistencies (pay attention there are only middle aged adults and babies... no kids and no senior citizens... odd), and I think they stole some of their ideas from Idiocracy, but it is a kids movie, so I'll cut them slack for that.
All in all we all loved it, and if you go and liked 8-Bit, stay for the credits, you'll be amused.

BTW, yes Equilibrium is awesome too!

Yay! I'm so glad others have seen the joys of Equilibrium-hehe. Not many of my friends have seen it, and those that I've turned on to it have loved it.

To me, it's kind of a Matrix-meets-1984 thing.

Since so many here have seen it, what would you think of playing an Equilibrium game? It's something I've considered doing before, some people playing rebel "sense offenders", some playing Grammaton clerics...prior to Christian Bale gumming up the works for the Tetra-Grammaton, of course.

Sound interesting to anyone?

Finally got around to seeing Idiocracy. If you haven't seen yet it, WATCH IT!!!

I think it should be required viewing for parents, but send the kids to the grandparents before you watch it!

Idiocracy is one of the best and, ironically, most sophisticated critiques of consumer culture, media concentration and government control of our age. There are a few things I would have changed had I been writing the film, but overall, a great movie.

And, (surprise surprise!) Fox tried to kill it, limiting its theatrical and video release. It's cult following after the fact saved it, though...

Pretty good movie. One of the most twisted plots I've found in an action flick. I recommend it.

Not a huge fan of Christian Bale especailly as Batman but liked him a lot in Equilibrium.

For me... Michael Keaton as Batman and of course Sean Connery as Bond with Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig in a close tie for second place

...but only in the first film, IMO. The second one (and it could've just been the movie, itself) seemed just a little too cheesy/Adam West-like for me to "buy it," so to speak. We won't even talk about the atrocities that made folks even think about Clooney or Kilmer in the role *cringe*... talk about harkening back to the campy 60's crap.

Anyhoo... gotta disagree with Lysk on this one. Being a Batman fan from waaaaaay back, I've gotta go with Bale as the Dark Knight. (In fact, when I saw Equilibrium, I thought; "Damn! Dude would make an awesome Batman!") He captures the duality of Bruce Wayne/Batman almost perfectly per the comics and novelizations (like Keaton came close to doing in Tim Burton's first effort) and the 'dark and gritty' stuff of Gotham (and the overall ambience of the film itself) clinched it, for me.

Bond? Ummm... gotta admit I have never really been a fan of Bond, even as a kid I had a hard time with the 'suspension of disbelief' in a lot of those films. I did like Dr No and Thunderball wasn't to terrible so, of course, I'll go with Connery as Bond. Can't say as any of the other Bonds were that memorable or believable and, honestly, I haven't been coaxed into watching any Bond film post Roger Moore. Haven't seen Casino Royale, of course, but Daniel Craig (from the trailers and clips I have seen) seems to take Bond back to the less gadget oriented, more rough-and-tumble aspect that Connery gave the character, soooo... I'll be hanging in there with Lysk's choices on this one. Connery and Craig.

Bond girls? Ummm... none, really... Most of them were supposedly to smart and cunning to have ended up as the bimbos they were ultimately portrayed as, let alone in the sack with a goober like Moore or even Dalton. Based on looks, though, I guess Halle Barry? (not even sure which film that was or what her name was, though... )
