can't believe I'm saying this

But I think I would actually join if you started it. I know, me actually joining an RPG. I'm not active in any current games, and my tabletop group hasn't played in weeks (maybe never again due to a falling out) so I am feeling needy.

I don't know if I would like to bring back Dr. White though. He was a great character and I had a full department of awesome support characters (go Cinna!) but White was older than everyone else if I remember right, and since he was never able to pass command training I see him retiring to private practice or maybe teaching at his alma mater (Ohio State if I recall) rather than staying in space for too long. He wasn't much for military life anyway.

I'd love to try a different character though.

Oh!

If Addy's playin' ya GOTTA do it!

Especially if he brings Doc White back... that guy always gave the best meds... even if Mac wouldn't take 'em.

okay

Well, folks, I have posted a tentative roster on the first post of this thread. I have full characters for Eol and Alacrity, and solid concepts from Dragonblood and Merideth, so those slots are pretty much taken.

All the other department head slots are available, as are additional roles in any department (if you'd prefer to play one of those). I did not list a Chief of Security, since MacTavish historically worse both hats, but if someone wants to play this, it is quite workable to have both.

Nice interest so far!

nice!

Wow, we are quickly shaping up!

Addy, feel free to bring someone else to the fray. We still need an XO, a sciencey dude, an ops guy... you could certainly do security, or another office in any department. Up to you, man.

Oooh...

Meri can handle the computers... and I can babble about sci-fi lore that may or may not be accurate regarding placeable amoebas of unusual size

Although, if the medic isn't done, I could do that too... I guess I'll have to wait and see what concept strikes me first *nods*

I don't know if there will be any Romulans in this game if so I would like to play my lietnat/Scientist. Ifs not then play in another capacity. Same for Dragon Mistress as well.

XO

I have a pretty solid concept for an executive officer. Give me a day or so to flesh him out

hello out there...

Hello everybody. I've PMed Olan a little bit about my character and I tip-toe into this thread nervously, feeling dwarfed beneath everyone's towering Trek knowledge. As I confessed to Olan already in the private message, I have absolutely zero knowledge of Star Trek (except perhaps a basic understanding of the use of a Platonic philosophy as a structure for every show: Captain Kirk being the soul, seeking to find a balance between his reason and will - as embodied by the doctor and Spok... oh Grade 12 English class... oh... I guess I got a little off topic - I'm just trying hopelessly to fit in.) Basically this is me creeping in as inconspicuously as possible bearing my heavy load of ignorance and asking meekly if you'll have me as a helmsman?

DragonBlood

Hey don't feel that dwarfed... I grew up on the movies and have seen a few random tv episodes and other then that I'm going to be relying heavily on the Mega-Trekkies in here too for technical and worldly information. And hey! I'm the engineer! Which means when the ship stops running I get to make up all this stuff about power converters and combustion chambers...

So welcome aboard DB and I know the rest of the crew can carry us Trekkie-wanna-be's around...

engineering help

Merideth - you will have the Catellan Lt. Bob N'Doog to help you in engineering. I can't let a Star trek game go by without posting as Lt. Bob. We last left him as head of Ship's computer so I'll have to see where time has taken him. He's not the most ambitious of star fleet officers.

not the most ambitious...

Bob is a zen surfer dude with a righteous, mellow attitude. To say he's not too ambitious is a tad of an understatement.

hehe

I hope Callie doesn't step on him too much then... -she's- a bit ambitious.

I am working up her background story and all...

background and character info

I have edited the first post of the thread to show the data we collect on characters. You don't have to provide all of it to start with, and I'll be happy to help with the trek-specific stuff (like service record and such).

Do make sure that I have approved your base character concept before you create all of this info!

First officer

Looks like commander Avanti will be returnign to Discovery to take the XO spot. Sorry for the confusion, Admiral! You are of course highly wanted, so please adjust your concept a bit and let me know.
