I was looking over a handful of the races, and I noticed that there wasn't a detailed entry for humans or Sils, unless I missed it somehow, so are humans exactly as presented in the PHB?

Humans and Syls are standard humand and elves in the 3.5 PHB.

I think I'll finally try my luck at a concept I came up with a year or so ago for another game, I'll get back to you once I work out a character sheet.

I'd be interested in playing a Dragonfire Adept (preferred) or maybe a Warlock.

on that note I don't seem to have Dragon Magic Reepacheep Though I do know the Warlock class from other books.

If you can find me a link to the verbatum class description and charts/ info from the sourcebook i can at least consider it.

I told a fib... lol found Dragon Magic too.. looking over class now.

given the world in which we're playing and such..humanoids with at will changing breath weapons and invocations just blows the power curve out of the water, so I'm gonna decline the Dragonfire Adept class.

Do you have a deadline for characters as yet? Also, I'm assuming you are choosing your players based on their character submissions, primarily backgrounds? Or are you picking out what would make a well-rounded party? Or some other method? Anyways, eager to find the time to pull together my character!

No Exact Deadline, but by Next weekend would be fantastic..
I'm picking what I think will make for the best roleplay combinations, read-alongs, and interesting storylines for my as a DM...
If the group turns out to say, all be fighters without magic, or all stealthy, without healing.. that's fine by me, I loath setting specific party stereotypes.. "the fighter, the healer, the rogue the caster." Because that's just not how I envision every party.. Take the famous (if not commercialized) Drizzt and his companions. Cattebrie, Wulfgar, Regis, Bruenor, Add some Gutbusters, the odd Gnome illusionist etc, but really, there is very little magic or healing in their party (safe for the emerging wizard in Cattebrie even as the Weave falls asunder with the changing from 3.5- 4th edition in the books) But I digress.. I'm just looking for the best story to tell.
