My experience with DnD is two custom versions of the game, and in neither of them did we have a full-time cleric.

You're probably right on the arcane spell caster thing, my familiarity with the spells is very low.

He's right

In fifth edition magic users can not cast healing spells - that is the role of the cleric. Paladins and druids can do so as well at a lower level.

Also, fighters in 5th have an ability called "second wind" that can help a lot. And, as someone already mentioned, if healing potions are moderately available (in dungeons or for sale) they can help solve the problem - and provide a way for the DM to siphon gold off of the party.

I will hopefully get to work on the character tomorrow - maybe a cleric. Or maybe not.

Hello again.

I'm in two other games, and I'm the healer in both of them. I"m gonna decline that role this time around.

Tieflings and Dragonborn being disallowed, I'm thinking an elven monk.

How's that sound?

Elven monk sounds monkeriffic.

I spent the last week reading all of the loaded dice comics.

Characters

If I am right, it looks like we have a

Fighter
Warlock
Monk

I think Norm is willing to do the cleric thing.

I'm starting to work on the character now - but I need information on other characters.

If the monk chooses stealth as a skill area we may not need a rogue. In that case I might choose a barbarian. Did you>

The Fighter - are you primarily melee focused? Or archery? If I went with a barbarian I would want to make sure we have some flexibility.

*Oh heck, I'll just make a rogue. They are fun. Here is hoping our cleric and monk can fight.

Bows

I was just thinking that I don't think we have anyone with a bow.

Edit: padre actually DOES have a light crossbow, at least according to the character sheet i have access to.

I forget....

Does picking a sub race replace standard stat bonuses, or add to them?

adds to it

You have to choose a sub race and it adds to the general race bonuses

Thanks

Question to the GM. I decided to roll for stats and came out really good. Like maybe too good. wondered if you wanted them nerfed a bit.

*For reference, they are 17, 17, 14, 15, 17, 13

Point Buy

What if we all just used the point buy system or take the standard array?

otherwise, i think, if you got more than a 10 point difference between PCs attribute scores, it will be hard for those with less to keep pace with those with more.

my two cents

...

Agreed.

I used the given array, FWIW
