So... for a 15th level warlock with Charisma 20 who normally gets 3x 5th level slots... using the mana system, they'd get 20 mana points that refresh every short rest?

warlock

Warlock has always struck me as a class made up by someone who does not play the game and has heard the rules third hand from another room.

Yes you wuold have 20 mana to use and yes you get it back after a short rest. However, you also blow 5 mana per spell as per the rules.

From the rules: For example, when you are 5th level, you have two 3rd-level spell slots. To cast the 1st-level spell thunderwave, you must spend one of those slots, and you cast it as a 3rd-level spell.

so in mana terms, you have to blow the max level of mana per spell (Thank the patron for Eldritch Blast not costing slots or mana)

My better option: You have the 20 mana, you can cast at whatever spell level you want and use the apprioriate number of points per spell. But you get the mana back after ONE short rest only. After the short rest, you do not get any back until you have a long rest,

I am open to discussion

Thanks. I think I'll take the first option. That stags closest to the class.

Where is everyone at with their characters? We all still here?

I hope to be done mine by the weekend, if not sooner.

Breebs, are you doing a blast type cleric or one that like to wade into battle?

Battle Mercy

A little of column A, a little of column B. Without gear or anything she'll probably stay back a bit, blast and support.

I'm about 50% done with character creation. Wading through a new system is tough, but I'm getting there. I have today off, so will keep workingo n it.

The creation-creation part is done for me, I can send the dndbeyond link to view it. I just need to write up the backstory.

This mana system

Since we're using this, do we need to worry about material/verbal/somatic components?

I’m still here. I’ve got my concept up. I’ll work it up and have it in for the weekend.

components

For this adventure we are not worrying about material components unless it is a high ticket item (IE the gemstones for a resurrection spell). I do not want the spell casters made useless. Same with spell focuses or books. You will be able to cast spells and get them back.

Corrin's History:

Corrin Tosscobble is a well-known hero during the early years of the Age of Mortals. He is credited for leading the resistance against Malystryx the Red, disrupting her armies and clearing her minions after the dragon’s death, returning the Desolation back to the beautiful land of Kendermore, and destroying the dark dragon overlord, Norixious the Dead, the losing his life in the process.

Beginning in his late teens, Corrin joined Talin’s Irregulars, a resistance force of afflicted Kenders, in hampering and disrupting Malystryx’s goblinoid mercenaries. Corrin’s squad regularly disguised themselves as goblins in order to sow confusion and disunity amongst their enemies’ ranks.

As Corrin’s squad grew in experience, they began infiltrating deeper into Malystryx’s ranks, capturing supplies and eliminating officers before sinking back into the shadows. With Malystryx’s death at Sanction in 419 AC, Talin’s Irregulars ramped up their offensive against the Red’s remaining minions and mercenaries. Recruits from Kenderhome, afflicted Kender who hadn’t been able to find home amongst their true brethren, swelled the ranks of Talin’s forces. Through most of it, Corrin continue to lead his squad in dangerous missions against Malystryx’s dragon underlords, carefully undermining their leadership or ending their lives.

By 424 AC, while Talin’s Irregulars are making headway gradually pushing Malystryx’s forces out, the dead Red’s twisted magic continued to hold the land, making it nearly uninhabitable. Many of the afflicted Kender abandon their hopes of seeing Kendermore restored. Corrin, along with some of his closest companions begin looking for a way to release the land from Malystryx’s misery. The path takes them close to a decade to walk, with numerous side adventures and quests, not the least of which included recovering the Basin of Sirilla Celu.

In 433 AC, Talin’s Irregulars have been humbled in size, and the land has a new dragon overlord, Norixious the Dead, a dragon lich. Corrin and his companions penetrate deep into the dark dragon’s territory, overcome the wards surrounding the long abandoned Tower of High Sorcery, and place the Basin of Sirilla Celu on the Pillar of Flames erected 50 years prior by Malystryx. The dead Red’s magic begins to lose sway.

As the land begins to return to its previous lushness, Corrin and his companions join Talin’s Irregulars to cleanse Norixious and his undead army from Krynn. With the recovery of the Radiant Lance, Corrin manages to slay Norixious. However, the Lance splinters, a shard piercing the shadow-touched Kender and ending Corrin’s life.
