Maybe you are right, but I think that if I hadn't read the book, I still would've left the theater disappointed. Sharli didn't read any of the books, and she felt the same (and she tends to be much more appreciative of movies than I am - I'm just plain picky).

I feel that they could've improved a lot. For instance, I found the editing to be quite weak, which made certain funny moments less funny.

One point where I do have to compare the movie to the book is the part where Snape is teaching Harry to shield his memories. In the book that plays a major part, and Harry does not use the spell against Snape. I don't want to go on about little details, but I'm making a point here. The point is: neglect of previous movies.
Perhaps you remember in part 4, Dumbledore takes out a memory and puts it in a basin of white ribbony other memories? Harry finds a similar basin (Snape's) and that's how he gets into his memories. What he finds out about his father is much more shocking that way, I believe. There are some other parts that didn't really come back, where they made an effort in the previous movie to emphasize it.

Oh well... It's not all THAT bad, but people who've read the books pretty much all feel the same way. Since the same director is going to do part 6 as well, I'm not going to go with such high expectations (I found book 6 to be the best in the series).

To be honest, I didn't have high hopes for HP, and I found I was right.

I think its a plot flop.

I finally got out to see Transformers the other day. Great movie! The effects were awesome. It was a bit more violent than I expected for a movie based on a line of toys.

I am waiting for Veronica to return from camp to see the Harry Potter film. I expected this to be a hard film for the director to make because Order of the Phoenix was a badly written and poorly edited book, so much so that Veronica and I stopped reading HP books from then on. GIGO

This weekend is Hairspray and I now pronounce you Chuck and Dave, neither of which I am interested.

Still haven't seen Transformers. I need to see that.

Just got the opportunity to see Transformers last night, in fact. I was pleasantly surprised. I went in expecting great CGI and a mediocre story line... you know, one of those movies that's fun to watch but doesn't really have any substance? Got much more "substance" than I had imagined they'd be able to pack into a Transformers movie, surprisingly enough. And of course the CGI was incredible... Now we know that MechWarrior/BattleTech can be done properly... Someone needs to get off their butts and do it!

I expect you'll see the CGI used for Neon Genesis: Evangelion.

Saw this one yesterday - just the wife and I (kids are at the lake with Grandma).

Horror/suspense movie abot a jaded writer who stays in various "haunted" hotels and such, then writes books about his experiences. He's come to believe that there are no such things as ghosts, but when he chooses to stay in room 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel in Ney York, his mind is changed...

Not bad for a scary movie. A little cheese, but not much, and plenty of "gotcha" scary moments, tossed with a lot of mess-with-your-head type stuff. All told, defintiely worth watching.

The commercial look decent for that...and if the webmaster approves...

Someday soon I have to go see all the movies Ive been missing.

I saw Harry Potter on the weekend and was generally pleased with teh results. Yes, the director/screenplay writer did a chop job on it, but there was no way around that. As movies go, it worked well and I thought it was smoother than the Goblet of Fire.

It will be interesting to see how the writers deal with the next two books. Without creating a spoiler for anyone - I think that they may be the toughest of all because so much has to be shown.

I read 1408 as a short story years ago... and I remember not liking it that much. The trailer looks a LOT better though. But you know what trailers can do.

Last night we watched 'The Host', a Korean Monster movie. The story is small, a young girl it taken by the monster and her family members try to find her and defeat the monster.

The acting was not that great, and the english synchronization didn't make it any better. I think part of it is meant to be comical, but it's equally astranging and funny.
The monster is wonderfully animated though, and in the end, the movie is worth watching. Though it was not what I expected.

Saw Transformers few days ago and loved every single bit of it. The fights between the Autobots and the Decepticons were wonderful, specially in the city where everything that could possibly be destroyed pretty much was destroyed. It was so chaotic that I completely loved every second of it. I want to see it again! And again! And once more, at the very least!

The transformer's scene Skari mentioned rmeinds me of Power Rangers... I understand Powe Rangers are defenders and the good guys... but how cme noone ever complains about the massive amount of damage done to the city and buildings whil they fight in their Zords.. I mean and the loss of life realistically must be astronomical as skyscrapers and office towers explode topple and generally collapse... Unless.. evil only attacks on schedlued work holidays or while the buildings are being fumigated? hmm

THE POWER RANGERS ARE SUPER AWESOME FOR THE ULTIMATE COOLNESS!!!

Just saw Die Hard 4. It was pretty cool. It had some neato computer hacker dudes in it. fun stuff.
