Edward followed along in silence, still wondering at all the magic around here. Even in New Orleans, it wasn't like this. He needed to snap out of it, though. Too much time was being lost, and he could use some new friends.

"Mind if I tag along? I'm a newbie here too, it'd be nice to have something of a guided tour."

His cat mewed in agreement.

Donald opened the door for her, letting her walk in front, and giving him another chance to watch her hips. This girl was astounding to him.

Hex wandered through the door behind the girl, and Edward grinned at the one with the bloodshot eyes.

"Sorry, she's convinced she's a lady. I'm Edward, and the elegant lady that just passed you is Hex."

"She's lovely." Dawn beamed at him, making her even prettier. She brushed her hair over one shoulder and began walking faster.

Donald stared with shock as the cat walked through, tail straight up in the air. It drew a nice laugh from him.

"I'm Donald Jackovitch. And I'm just a happy guy."

A little too happy from the smell of his breath. New Orleans had its share of substances around Mardi Gras season.

"Nice to meet ya," he said, reajusting his crimson red glasses, "We'll have to show these people how to party I suppose."

He caught up to Dawn and asked, "You know, it does seem a bit...stuffy around here. Anything us new guys should know about the place?"

"You two already know me." Dawn looked at Hex and grinned. "And yeah: almost everyone is from a famous witch line." Dawn then frowned. "And almost every guy wants me. My magic, I guess, is the reason."

"Are there any good, secluded outdoor areas?" Donald patted his ear and laughed. "I'm ready to party now." Donald then let his eyes wonder down. "I'm guessing it's not the magic so much..."

"Yeah. But what about the magic?" Dawn stopped to look at him.

So that was the reason she was so attractive...her charms were more powerful than any hormone Edward had ever heard of. Hex jumped up and made herself comfortable around his neck. Which was good, kept the chill off. So almost everyone is from a fancy purebred line...he'd have to show 'em what the new school could do. So to speak.

"Famous, huh? I'm just a poor country sorceror trying to make my way in the world. Someone's got to represent the new lines. Gotta start somewhere, after all. As for partying...sounds good to me, I finally learned my limits. Mind-altering anything makes us fire wielders a bit...volatile..."

What magic she had said.

"That old black magic that you use so well, of course," he said with a wink.

Donald snapped his head up. "I said you do have strong magic." He looked at Edward with a look of oops, and then laughed. "And now I'm out of place. To my knowledge, my brother was the only other person in my family that could use magic. We're from a peasant line in Russia. He was a fire witch. Never really used it, though."

"That would make you two the 'celebrities'. All the pretty girls will want you." Dawn sighed. "I wish I was pretty..."

Donald looked confused. "Woman. You are pretty. And I'm not just saying because you're the first woman I haven't had to get drunk before I can get her to take me to where she sleeps."

With that, Edward started to let his mind wander to what Dawn would look like without the magic. He tried to use his Third Sight that his mistress had told him about, but he still wasn't powerful enough. Rats, he thought, maybe later.

"Magic or no, you are very pretty," Edward said, "And I don't know about being a celebrity, I've always been the shy one. I don't quite know what to make of this place yet."

He laughed at Donald. It was good to be in company that shared a bit of his sense of humor for once. Not many of the commoners had the same humor of magic.

Dawn turned red and covered her face.
