Subject: Hey! Hey!

I like what I see. I do, I do. Will look at the character sheet more closely over the weekend. Can I make minor changes to Sanya (in dialogue with you, Brom), or do I have to take her as is?

Thanks for your work on her!!

BACK AT THE DOCTOR’S

Asher watched the newcomer with more than a bit of suspicion. It was not that he didn’t believe that Miss Willow could “handle” herself… he had seen her turn away her fair share of “suitors”. It had more to do with Asher’s unfamiliarity with uppity-ups and well-t’-dos. Mr. Blake, if that’s even his really name, was just a bit too smarmy for the Kid’s likin’.

The Captain spoke. “All right, Mr. Blake. I appreciate your message-bearing skills an’ all. Now, might ya be willin’ to impress me something more by tellin’ me where ol’ J.W. is?”

“JW? I don’t rightly know. I imagine he’s around here somewhere. No place else to go.”

Doc McGuire shook his head, “Don’t think to hard on it Jimmy. You might hurt yourself.”

Asher smirked from behind the milk bottle. It was nice to see that the good Doctor saw through Mr. Blake as well.

Doc McGuire continued speaking to the Captain. “Like I was saying, try the Lawrence first.”

The Captain made motion to leave, and Asher put the bottle down, wiped his mouth with his shirt sleeve, and followed after Sung. He gave the good Doctor a nod as he left, “Thanks for the drink, Doc!”

ON THE WAY TO THE LAWRENCE SALON

Wyatt and Asher take the lead as James and Willow follow behind, arm in arm. James seems to be doing a lot of talking, prompted by the occasional question or comment from Willow.

The Kid walked beside the Captain with confidence and anticipation. So far, the day had gone as smooth as could be expected – all things considerin’ – and Asher was looking forward to getting’ paid. A bit of fresh food in the kitchen would be a nice treat.

Comin’ into town, the Kid was caught a bit off guard by the appreciation of the townsfolk, but he took it better than the Captain, nodding to the people and smiling back. It was not that the Kid was lookin’ for the ego boost, nor that he wanted to mislead folks into a false hope that a “savior” had arrived from above.

But he had compassion on them. You live so long in the midst of chaos and oppression you start to give up on hope for safety and security… and than some off-worlders step into the scene and stand up to injustice and take care of their own… almost makes you want to hope again.
In some ways, the townspeople reminded him of home, of the lawlessness left behind after the War.

So, the Kid nodded to folks, and smiled brightly… if only to give them hope for the moment. And when a woman came up with a freshly baked apple pie, Asher replied sincerely, “MmmMmm! Apple pie! Thank you, ma’am.” And gladly took the pie in hand.

Rounding a corner, the Kid noted a man coming towards them. While he did not seem threatening, Asher did feel suspicious. With the pie in his left hand, the Kid let his right hand hover near his holster. As the man drew near, he spoke to the Captain. “Excuse me! Sheriff! Charles Caesar of the Frisco Star. I was wondering if I could have an interview, or a few moments of your time for some questions?

“You got it wrong, Puhn yo,” The Kid noted the dangerous edge in the Captain’s tone, and he looked Sung’s way out of concern. The Captain’s face was stone-cold, though there seemed to be a fire in his eyes that spoke of something under the surface. Hmmm…

“Right. Right.” And there he was jotting something down on a pad. “Holding out for more money, I gitch ya. So is JW offering a salary, or is it a per head caught basis? Where are you from? How’d you get here? What made you choose the lawman style of life? Are you married? Do you have a family settling here? If you are a bachelor, let me tell you there are some many of a fine lady readers of my paper that would be interested. Is this fine young man your deputy? Jimmy! How do you know the sheriff? And who might this fine lovely lady be? Are you related to the sheriff?”

The Captain stopped. Asher sensed danger and scanned the area to find it, only to locate it in Sung. When he spoke, his tone was the messenger of death. “Mister, you’re Shiah Hwa, an’ if’n you print that Da Shiang La Se La Ch’wohn Tian you’re gonna find yerself losing more’n a few of yer readers when I pack up and burn atmo leavin’ this dirt rock for the vultures. Bai Tuo, Uhn Jin Yee Dien”

Whoa… The Kid was nearly as stunned as the reporter.

“Um…” said the now paled news reporter. “I don’t really see the need for such language sir.” He stepped back. “I …umm…Why don’t we talk another time … when you are in a better …I mean a more personable mind.” And he back pedaled as fast as dignity would let him before deciding to out and out run.

The Kid bit his tongue. It was not his place to question the Captain. And he quickly dismissed Sung’s remarks as coming from a tired captain, weary from the worries of the day. When they got to the Lawrence Saloon, Asher walked in first, scanning the room for trouble while holding the door open for the others.

AT THE SALON
Spotting JW, the Kid was about to point him out to the Captain when he is confronted with what he could only describe as his first, actual deja-vu experience – the woman at the door was an exact image of the girl he had met earlier in the day on the ramp of the Roc… only she wasn’t all cryin’-like.

“Howdy gents!” she greeted them sincerely. “Take a seat wherever you can and I would be happy to serve you.” She looked as though she was about to turn away, but than had more to say. “Say? Are you that new sheriff?” The Kid winced, looking over at the Captain to ensure he wasn’t drawing his gun.

“Shiny!” the girl continued. “I’ll make sure I use the extra clean cups for you hahaha.”

“Thanks,” replies Asher as he follows Sung towards the back table . On the way, he can’t help but notice the lone woman at the bar, the twin peacekeepers drawing his attention. MmmMMM! Those are mighty fine! he thought as he smiled in her direction. It was hard for the young lad to keep his eyes off her and her guns.

As they approached JW, Asher’s attention came back to the task at hand – public relations. He let the Captain do all the talking, while he kept watch over the room. Soon the deal was done and Sung was collecting their pay. JW invited him to join up and play, but the Kid politely decline.

The Captain made his way back to the bar, and Asher covered his back all the way, ensuring none were looking to double-cross them. The bartender looked at the chips and said, “Quan! (one thousand) I have to give you platinum and credit notes Da yeh or else I call Pete to open vault.”

The Captain assured the bartender that coins and notes would be fine enough, and the man counted out the coin and notes. What he was finished counting, he almost shifted fluidly into business, looking to take a bit of Sung’s load off him. “What can I get you?”

Wyatt ordered a soda, and Asher absently asked for milk while letting his eyes settle on the woman with the nice guns. The Chinese man replied, “Mo Min Chi Meow this is a saloon Da yeh not a nursery store. If it can’t make you fall down and sleep, we don’t serve it! Dohn ma?”

Asher’s eyes locked in on the woman’s drink, “Wild Turkey for me.”

When the bartender returned with his drink, Asher made his way over to the blonde at the bar. He felt himself begin to feel a bit clammy and tried to think of what he was going to say. When he finally pulled up beside her, he said the first thing that came to mind.

“I have never… er… had a dream come true before, until… ah... I… um…” Smooth, kid. Real smooth, he could almost hear Sam’s voice. Just tell her the truth. “I like your guns.” He blurted out, and then, “You want some pie?”

OOC:Okay… so I’m ending it here. Like I said before… still crazy busy, so I might not have time to respond. This is mostly meant to be filler. I intend Asher to just enjoy some conversation about guns over pie and Wild Turkey, excusing himself when Wyatt says it’s time to go. (though maybe exchange some info, and arranging when they might meet up later, so he can… er, check out more of her guns… and, um, eat more pie? )

Hey Gang,

Just wanted to touch base to let you know I'm SWAMPED with RL stuff. We're downsizing at work. Fortunately, I still have my job. Unfortunately, I've also been given the jobs of two other folks too. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and not sure when it's going to simmer down here.

Beyond (and, maybe, because of) RL stress and stuff, I also find myself in a bit of a writer's funk. I don't want to hold up the game, or for it to become burdensome. So, I wanted to throw out some thoughts and see what you think:

1) Alacrity, you could NPC Asher for a while and hopefully RL cools off a bit sooner as opposed to later.

2) We look to write Asher out. I was thinking now might be a good time. I could see Asher taking on the job of Sheriff for a spell.

Option #1 is hopefully that things slow down for me again sooner... and really, I can't promise that... not yet at least.

Option #2 allows Asher to live on, and possibly join up again with the crew at a later date (or at least have a few silver screen moments). It also frees you up to look for a new recruit who actually post now.

Anyway, I just wanted to tip my hand, as it were.

I probably won't have time tomorrow to post, so continue on.

I have got to posting yet this morning. Some family issues have come up and I've been delayed.

I should still have time to post before the day's through though. You make it sound as though Asher's actions could get all heavy like.... anyway I can throw in a few plot points on the front end of things to keep things smooth?

My schedule clears up tomorrow (Monday), so I am hoping to post. Al, if you have a post ready to go, I don't think my should be anything really planet-wrecking. Asher will interact a bit with the town folks, do a double take on the bar wench (deja vu et tu!), walk with Sung to collect the chips, and chat up the Peacekeeper lass at the bar ("ooo! you so tasty!").

Anyway, I hope to post tomorrow AM.

I had hoped to post tonight but enjoyed a great night with friends instead.

My upcoming week is very hectic, and I likely won't have a free moment until next week sometime (and that's looking a bit sketchy too to be honest.)

Please don't let me hold up the game. My post would have been just more "fluff and filler."

My apologies... I do have so many neat ideas for the scene you presented, Al.

Hmmm... good point. Had forgotten that Tann was getting an education and such. Nevermind 'bout my previous comment then.

And regarding the gear, like I said, not really interested in the stuff. Asher would have left the "regular" guns (.38 Specials, and such) and probably the broken handyman cannon too. Wouldn't want the authorities to be thinking we shot good townsfolk all unarmed and stuff... besides, Asher would have something against taking a dead man's gun unless he was in desparate times.

Anyway, I wouldn't really trouble yourself with it, Alacrity. I wrote it in more to keep the purple bellies from hanging around longer than need be. ("Holy s***, Captain! These guys had enough TNT ta blow half this dustbowl apart... I wonder where they got from?") That kind of stuff.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Glad you liked that!

Brom: Asher isn't likely to question the Captain as he believes Sung has just got his s*** together. But I was wondering if having Wolf along for our little night on the town might be a good idea?

Wolf knows the locals, knows the area, and has some handy skills when it comes to electronics. I know that leaves Sam alone with the Doc... but what's the worst that could happen?

If need be, Asher could stay back and work on the mule. 'Course the Kid won't like it much, and will fuss a bit being left to "babysit" Dash... but it could work.

Completely a OOC thought... not sure if that's considered meta-gaming... I hope not.

Alacrity: Not that I really care much (though the Kid may), but can you tell me what Asher picked up from the bad dudes back at the bank. I had him pilfer the bad guys "illegal" weaponry (grenades and such things).

All: I'll likely be out for the next few days. September is a busy season here at work.

Going into the bedroom, Asher began sorting through his gear. Sure wish we were back at the ship… He takes a swig from the milk bottle. Most of this stuff just ain’t gonna be good for a night on the town. The kid looked over the assault rifle with a frown. See! This ain’t no good! He set the bottle down on the night stand.

Speaking aloud to the rifle, Asher continued his thoughts, “It’s not that I don’t like ya none. You sure were something else back at the bank! Whoo-whee! The way you shot that little mule into orbit like a match rocket… it was a beautiful, beautiful thing.” He paused for a moment, lovingly caressing the rifle. “But that’s just what I mean. No offense, but a guy’s gonna scare away all the ladies if he’s got a gal like you slung over his shoulder, catch me?”

He sighed, and slid the rifle back under the bed. “So… no assault rifle.” His eyes rested on the box of concussion grenades briefly before sliding them under the bed as well. “No grenades.” He sighed loudly. The Kid was about to slide the flashbang grenades under the bed too, but hesitated. He took the lid off for a moment and took one of the little devices out. A moment longer and Asher was stuffing two of them in his athletic bag. “The Captain won’t mind none… besides… you two aren’t really grenades, right?”

The Kid was left with the two uzis on the bed. “Whattado? Whattado?” He was about to leave them behind, but something nagged at him not too. Just the peacekeepers? And Sam not coming along? Better take one.

“One it is.”

Asher placed one of the uzis in the athletic bag, and slid the other under the bed. Sad to leave so much of his gear behind, but satisfied with his decision, the Kid shouldered his bag, grabbed the bottle of milk, and headed back for the livingroom.

“All ready, Cap…”

The Kid enters just as the new guest arrives – a young, pretty boy with fancy pants. Ash didn’t know Regina had this level of upper class… he didn’t care for the young man much either. He looked harmless enough, and though Asher noted the bulge under his left arm, the Kid figured he could beat the man on the draw handily. He takes a swig from the bottle.

“Good Evening Gentlemen,” the newcomer says pleasantly, oblivious to the fact that it isn’t evening yet, “My name is Blake. James Blake. I was asked by an associate of mine to come here to inform you that the coast is now clear. The bird has flown. The owl has left the nest. The eggs are back in one basket. The Alliance ship just….” His voice trails off as he spots Willow. Once he sees her, it is like no one else is in the room except her and him. His eyes take in the doctor with a smouldering desire, and his lips curl into a smile that is both dashing and demure at the same time. He walks directly over to Willow, looking deep into her eyes and says, “I have never had a dream come true before, until now.”

Whoo-whee! Dash is gonna be sad he missed this. Sure wish he was here… he’d sure have something to say. Asher tried his best to imitate the pilot. Softly under his breath, the Kid muttered, “Mighty pretty words… almost as pretty as dem shoes.” Asher let out a little cough.

The Kid takes another swig from the bottle, his eyes stay on the newcomer, waiting for a word from the Captain or Miss Willow.

Asher will leave the JA assault rifle, the box of concussion grenades, and an uzi behind at the Doc's home.

The Kid will take his Peacekeepers (fully loaded), plus the two used clips (I think he's shot off 5 bullets). In the athletic bag he'll take one of the uzis and an extra clip and two of the flashbang grenades. The rest of the boxof flashbangs will stay at the Doc's house too.

Subject: Respond to Wyatt

Asher was still standing near the window with the Captain, when Miss Willow and the good Doc came into the room and shared the update on both Sam and the banker. As the Kid heard the good news about Sam being okay, he let up a joyful “Whoo-whee!” and a congratulatory “Good job, Doc!” as he passed by both of them to see Sam.

As he came into the operating room, Asher stopped in his tracks. He wasn’t certain what he had expected to see – perhaps, Sam sitting up with a wiry grin on his face and a “Hey, Kid!” – but the sight of the pilot laid out on the table under the mender wasn’t it. Asher approached more cautiously, almost reverently.

“Doc says things are lookin’ up, Dash. Guess the Captain was right, luck o’ threes, and stuff. You’ve had the bad. Now’s time for some good.”

He paused for a moment, a serious, sober look on his face. Then he broke into a lopsided grin. “Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and return the favor ya paid me when I was stuck in the doctor’s chair back when we were chasing that comet. I suspect the Captain and I will be heading out soon… check on things, and such. Sad you’ll have to sit this one out, but you’ll be back up in no time… so, I guess we’ll try to save you some fun, okay?” He gave the pilot a firm pat on the shoulder before walking back to the others. “Stay frosty, Puhn Yo… I’ll bring ya back a hat or something!”

The Kid entered back into the room just as the Captain and Miss Willow were finishing up their chat. “Now, Captain-san,” Miss Willow said coyly, “by snooping, you do mean ‘be very visible and girly and draw every eye in the place so no-one notices you and Asher looking around and having quite conversations’, don’t you?”

“Go gussy yerself up, Willow,” The Captain replied, giving her the affirmation she needed with a nod of his head. As she walked away, Asher stepped up to the Captain, sensing the Captain had orders for him too. Sung turn back to the window, but addressed the Kid. “There’s the possibility that we’re going t’ need some PR, Kid. I think Sam and Wolf’ll do just fine here with the Doc while we sort out our business. So, you might wanna pack all o’ that gear and get ready to go. We leave as soon as Willow’s ready.”

“You got it, Captain!” Asher said with a solid nod. He hustled over to the bedroom where he had hidden his cache of weapons, but stopped for a moment at the door. “Captain?” he called back. “You think we’re gonna need the grenades?”

[OOC: If Wyatt wants Asher to bring the grenades, he’ll do so. Otherwise, I think he’s gonna leave most of the stuff behind. If Wyatt doesn’t respond, Asher will assume “no grenades”.]

I'd say we've got our work cut out for us.

THINGS TO DO LIST
Sam get better
Wolf get better
Sam read his email
Willow read her email
Wolf figure out how the robbers got in to vault
Wyatt find us some more work
Wyatt hook up with JW to make sure we be gettin paid
Willow meet with Grandpa Tong
Sam bed Brigit (maybe while Wyatt's got JW distracted)
Wolf fix mule
Sam buy new mesh vest, and maybe some new shirts
Wyatt get hat repaired
Willow get new clothes
Wolf buy uzi
Wolf hack into Alliance communications to eavesdrop
Ma cook supper

That leaves the kid with little else to do but pop up some popcorn and put in a holovid!

jk... while Asher is all about taken orders, Blammm's suggestion is to hook up with JW first, see how stuff with the Alliance went, negotiate with him how we're getting paid, and little Miss Brigit know Sam's gonna be alright. Don't know if that requires all of us. I might suggest Wyatt, Willow, and Wolf go together. Wyatt and Willow are the negotiator, Wolf is good with the electronic transfers and, like Alacrity suggested, might be able to figure out what went down at the bank. That, and Wolf's local.

Asher could hang back at the Doc's and work on fixing the mule and waiting for Sam to "wake up"... though he doesn't have to. He'll be just as glad to come along for "public relations" purposes.

After hittin' up JW, a visit to the Tongs might be in order. Asher could accompany Willow for the meet, while Wyatt and Wolf oversee the transfer of ICE back at the ship. Perhaps, after the meet, if Sam is well enough, Willow and Asher could escort him home.

Finding out what the waves to Willow and Sam say would be third on my list. Hopefully, some new leads show up there, else we look for work dirt side the next day... along with doing some shopping. (ballistic vest, uzi, hat, shirts, food stuffs, etc)

Those are my thoughts.

As they were preparing to leave, Asher quickly scooped up the ‘not-so-legal’ hardware that the bank robbers were carrying, specifically the grenades. “No need to give the Alliance a reason to ask more questions.” He said to noone in particular.

As the bodies of the injured were laid across the back of the mule, Asher moved to the driver’s seat. “Sorry, Wolf. Move over. Doc’s orders.” He gave the tough mechanic a wink.

Wolf moved over with little protest and Asher gently eased the mule over to the doctor’s shed, paying careful mind to stay clear enough away from the Tongs so as not to appear threatening. The Kid was alert for danger and anxious more than just a bit. This was Tong territory, and the Tong’s were always a mysterious, deadly people to Asher. His brothers had told him stories when he was a wee lad of Tongs killing folks dead because they had looked at them the wrong way; about how if you killed a Tong, you were as good dead, for there was always another Tong ready to avenge his death; about how the Tongs knew how to keep a man alive long enough to have him eat his own heart.

Asher didn’t believe that last part so much… but still! The fact that it would take him a little longer to draw his pistols with his hands on the wheel was a bit unsettling for the Kid.

But the Tongs seemed kind enough to let them pass unscathed and as Asher pulled the mule into the shed, he breathed a sigh of relief. He quickly jumped out and helped bring in the stretchers. Patting Sam on the shoulder, Asher encouraged the pilot quietly, “We’re here, ghuh-ghuh.” Asher looked across the room for a moment, let out a low whistle. “Looks like the Doc’s got all the fancy toys too. I’m sure Miss Willow’s gonna have lots of fun with you in here.” The Kid smiled and gave Sam another reassuring pat.

The Doc spoke up. “Gentlemen! Thank you but you are now in the way.” He says pleasantly and points to a side door, “If you use that door, it will take you to my study. Make yourself at home, there are refreshments in the cooler and the cabinet. Guest bedrooms are there if you’d need to rest. If the door is locked, then I don’t want you in that room. Wolf, I haven’t forgotten you but these two be needing both our attentions now and you ain’t in danger unless you bleed on my furniture.”

“Thanks, Doc!” Asher said as cheerfully as he could. He made his way into the study, ensuring that he had grabbed his athletic bag of ‘destruction’ with him, along with his rifle. Another low whistle was elicited from the Kid as he caught sight of the beauty of the Doc’s home. “Nice place you got here.” Asher called back. To the Captain, he quipped,” And almost as neat as Ma.”

Making himself at home at the diningroom table, Asher quickly laid out and reloaded the rifle, and stashed away the weaponry he had pilfered from the bandits into his athletic bag. Moving over to the livingroom, the Kid found Wolf resting on the couch. He noted how the mechanic handled the uzi he had been given earlier. “Wolf. I’m gonna need that piece back. Alliance don’t look kindly on automatic weapons and such, so I think it’d be best to be puttin’ it out of sight.”

[OOC: Assuming Wolf hands over the uzi…]

If Asher notices that Wolf doesn’t have a piece of his own, the Kid hands over one of his Peacekeepers. Either way, Asher takes the uzi back lovingly, returning to the diningroom table. With quick efficiency, the Kid reloads and safeties the automatic weapon and places it into the athletic bag. He hides the athletic bag and the rifle under one of the beds, ensuring the bed skirt keeps both out of sight.

Coming out of the bedroom, feeling good about havin’ put his toys away -- Ma would be proud -- the Kid made his way to the kitchen fridge in search of some milk. “Don’t let me down, Doc…” he said quietly to himself. Asher smiled as his eyes settled on the bottle of pure white liquid. “Thank you.”

Making his way to the window, Asher stood silently by the Captain, the only noise being the sloshing of the milk as the Kid drank straight from the bottle. He knew when to let the Captain to his thoughts and now was one of them times. He’ll think of something, Kid. Don’t you worry none. They comes in threes. We’ve had the bad… now’s time for some good. He took another swig from the bottle as he watched the Alliance patrol skiff passed by over head once more. Now’s time for some good…

Nice work, Eol!

Here's another idea I thought would be cool (yep... I'm being the demandin' type): How 'bout a cool action shot, like a scene from some part of our story so far.

I have a picture in my mind from our recent escapade. In the bank, close up of Asher and Brigit kneeling beside Sam. The angle of the shot is taken in such way that you can see the rest of the crew too (save Ma): to the right, over Asher and Bridgit's shoulder, through the blown out bank window, you can see Wolf resting in the mule. Ludlow can be seen dead in the street. A crowd of town folks are beginning to gather behind the mule. Maybe in the far off distance, you can see the Roc over top of the town's buildings. To the left of Asher and Brigit, the Captain, Willow, and JW stand talking to each other amongst the dead bodies of the dumb brothers. The body of the banker with the Doc and banker's wife huddled over him can be seen in behind the Captain.

Anyway... cool action shots from the story! That would rock! Personally, I think our story is completely filmable.

What's your character's name?

Sanya Miluiel of House Minaethiel

Three words to describe her disposition:

Discerning, graceful, inquisitive

How she feels about people:

While Sanya tends to work with those in political power, she prefers the company of the common people. She keeps her matters to herself, not wanting to burden others with the weight of power she carries, she is still warm and hospitable, and enjoys hosting people at her tower.

What she values most:

Knowledge, shrewdness, kindness, subtleness, duty.

The person she values most:

The people of Rayther.

Her most valued possession:

Her extensive library of books, covering a wide range of mundane and arcane topics, specifically those dealing with the natural world.

Her general philosophy (alignment):

Sanya believes in destiny. She believes that some (like herself) are destined to hold key positions of power in order to protect the common folk. She does not view herself a greater than those she guides and protects… only that she has more responsibility than most folks.

Yet, Sanya knows that one cannot dictate to the common masses what they ought to do, and there by take away their freedom. Rather, Sanya believes her calling is to guide and protect to the best of her ability. Those under her leadership influence must still decide for themselves their own life courses.

Sanya believes that the use of subtly and shrewdness can allow oneself to avoid most violent confrontation.

(Neutral Good, with Lawful leanings)

Patron deity:

Sanya worships Solanis and Jusarin primarily, with acknowledgement to all the good gods.

A list of gear that the character absolutely must have:

She carries an ornate staff in her hands and a satchel containing her spell components is slung across her shoulders. As mentioned above, she has a base of operations (a tower) near Rayther with has an extensive library.

Any livestock that the character may own:

A white stallion named Meldarion

Description of clothing worn/carried:

Sanya wears a simple yet elegant gown, with furlined boots and a hooded cloak.

Any aliases that the character may have gone by in the past:

Sanya of Tuarwen (the name of her Tower)

Any organizational affiliations that you'd like me to entertain:

Council of Rayther

Alacrity, are you looking for us to interact with your most recent post, or are we waiting for part 2?

I don't have a lot more to add... though I suppose the three of us in the waiting room could conjure up some dialogue.

Just checking.

"Guns? What guns? I don't have any guns..."

You last comment, Alacrity reminded me of this Youtube clip. I think is would make for a funny (though potentially deadly) scene in our story.
