Tobin was not looking to test the beast, but curiousity more than anything got the better of him. "I know Troshba. I was only ensuring that the original agreement still stood. Food for you and your young, in return for safe passage."

"And now, Troshba, permit us only a few more questions before we go back down to fetch you your dinner. I know you said you liked beef, but is there anything else that you would enjoy?"

Tobin waited for a response before continuing. "Forgive me, Troshba. I do not wish to test you. Permit me only three more questions. I am wondering, Troshba, why you do not go down and bring back your own for? Surely, no cow could withstand your claws and spikes?"

Tobin waited once more before continuing. "Thank you for your patience, Troshba. I have only two more, little questions before we leave to bring you food for your family. Will one cow be enough for you and your young? I would hate to find out that I had brought up dinner, only to have you starve the 'morrow."

Tobin was patient and honey-tongued. "You are most kind, Troshba. If you will allow my final question, before we take our leave. Do you know of a fine spot where we might find the choicest of meats for you?"

After Troshba's response, Tobin will speak for the last time to the creature, "Thank you, Troshba. We will indeed be off now. I hope to meet again under better circumstances."

To his companions, "Let us leave Troshba now, friends."

Tobin will move down the mountain.

He spoke clearly, still behind the rock, arrow nocked once more. "I have seen the pain you are able to inflict Troshba. Yes! Pain from claws and spikes. You have been true to your word. I have no wish for one of mine to perish."

He paused for a moment before continuing. "And, yet, you too have felt our sting. And I doubt you wish to perish. So... food for you and your young for free passage through this pass... and a bit of help on your part. Your protection through your land."

"What say you, Troshba? Shall all live to see tomorrow?"

Tobin's eyes followed the creature as it flew across the sky while, at the same time, nocked another arrow, drawing it back, and releasing it in one fluid motion. These were natural motions for him, like breathing nearly.

While training and experience took over Tobin's body, his mind was thinking a few steps ahead. After the arrow flew into the sky, Tobin trusted the fates that it would meet its intended target and ducked behind the large rock once again.

"Troshba! I wish to renegotiate with you!"

Subject: Regarding Plot Points...


I noticed a difference between your explanation of the use of plot points to improve actions, and the book's. Your explanation says one would need to use 6 points to gain a d6 bonus. The book, however, states each point spend adds a 1 step die bonus (so spending 6 points would give you a d12 bonus).

Think "Young Guns" and you'll have the right idea.

DESCRIPTION: Caucasian. Blonde hair, about shoulder length. Just shy of 6 ft tall. 175-180 lbs. Not super bulky, but muscular. Young guy, early twenties. Bright, blue eyes. Pants with belt (w/ good size eagle belt buckle), button up shirt (plaid or cream), duster (not brown), regular cowboy hat, boots (maybe w/ spurs). Two revolvers at the hips (on in his hands). Shotgun on the back in some type of holster-like thingy. A bandoleer across the chest with bullets and shotgun shells.

Young, cocky, backwater, skirt-chaser who's good with the gun.

Still working on the "Introduction".

[Backposting round 1 of Combat… looking to take a double move action, and find some cover.]

Tobin Tumblebelly, cidal hero of the common folk, tumbled away for cover and position as the winged beast, known only as “Troshba”, swooped in for the attack. He heard Gunar’s taunts, even as the creature lashed out at his khordish friend.


[Action for round 2… taunt and fire.]

Notching an arrow, the cidal joined in poking fun at the ugly beast. “Not really fair, Gunar… us always pickin’ on the big monsters. Poor things never seem to know what’s coming.”

From behind his mask, Tobin's bright eyes took aim at Troshba; his nimble fingers fluidly drawing back the bowstring and then releasing. His beautiful, magical longbow enchanted the arrow, fusing it with a faint light, as it streaked towards its intended target.

I'm interested... I've actually only watched Serenity The Movie. That was alright. I heard the series was better.

So what I'm saying is that I don't know much about the 'verse, but am more than willing to read up on it.

I would love to try the captain spot... but I'm new and maybe a more "versed" player would be better. I'll leave that to the DM.

A couple questions:

1) Intended start date?
2) Links to site about the Serenity universe and the Firefly specs?
