You don't have to make up some excuse about early birthdays and being surprised. You could just say you were out partying all weekend.

Subject: Going to start translating phrases soon

So the Elven language the Inn uses should technically be Tengwar compatible so I think I'll star translating some of the common phrases.

I must say I think it's getting easier for me to write and it's getting prettier so I may start doing some embellishing soon.

Oh joy, the kid's been taken by Furthulu. (Sorry, bad joke I know...)

C'mon guys, let's go save a kid! Maybe they will be nice to us if we save a kid. :3

Edit: Or at least go kill the thing that took the kid.

That's probably all for now. My hand's killing me and I'm getting loopy off paint marker fumes. I am proud to say I'm only having to consult my reference sheet for rare letters now. Wrote most of this batch without looking (well I checked them for accuracy once I was done of course)

If anyone else would like one just ask. :3 Heck I'll write anything you guys wanna see. I plan on seeing if I can improve my handwriting some and make it look cooler then see if I can find any poor sucker kind citizen willing to pay me for my efforts if I'll make them something cool with it.

So I got bored last night and started practicing my Elvish script. I know it isn't as pretty and flowy as the stuff from the LoTR movies but I'm doing the non-calligraphy style and I am doing it with a paint marker not a calligraphy pen... so... yeah. I am doing Innmates' names as I get to them so if your name isn't up here feel free to nudge me. I probably just haven't gotten around to it just yet.

Oh and I took some artistic liberties in removing numbers from your username if you have them or shortening it to what I usually call you.

My apologies for the quality of the pictures... my webcam is pretty crappy quality.

oh and I started out PMing these to the people but then I wanted to do them for a lot of people and got tired of sending PMs, especially since then I wanted to show them my favorite ones.

This is the first one I did. It translates to Thank You Odyson. He explained some stuff from AD&D that was just not clicking. So blame him he started it... >.>

I like to believe I left my angst in my teen years, but I know better.

Somehow the starts to D&D adventures always sound like starts to bad jokes...

"So a dwarf, an elf and a human walk into a pub...." and "So the half-elf says to the dwarf..."

Now I'm all anxious about what a Rokash is. >.<

It's nearly Monday again and that means nearly update time. Anyone who hasn't posted should get on that or PM me with a reason as to why you haven't/aren't.

If I see you online and you don't either post or PM me I'm going to assume your character is just standing about this round with no opinion as to what happens and update, ready or not.

For the record, my cousin is going to be fine.

Yes I'm well aware she's not drinking from a bottle, but Bottom of a Bottle sounds better than Bottom of a Tankard. Alliteration and all that don't you know.

Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with. :3

Subject: Hope in the Bottom of a Bottle

Chance and chance alone had brought Salene to The Broken Rock Inn. She had been wandering without purpose or passion since the fiasco at Calestra.

She sighed softly as her mind returned to her beloved, Zair. He had saved her from some trouble in her youth and then introduced her to a great deal more of it in later years. He had taught her the rudimentary skills of picking both locks and the pockets of the unwitting mostly to give her something to do and was shocked at how well she took to it.

The half-blood girl had used her new skills to seek thrills, never keeping the things she took for long and never doing anything too daring. She watched as Zair became ever more bold, targeting more important people and taking items of greater worth. Worriedly Salene had tried to warn him that he was going too far and his antics were coming into the notice of those with the power to do him real harm. It was not until some of his pack came to tell her of his arrest that she discovered just how foolish her love had become.

So months later she was nursing a tankard in this tavern, trying to disappear into the corner. She wasn't certain how kind the people of this town was to those of hybrid heritage but she didn't want to misjudge their friendliness and end up chased out before she had a hot meal in her belly and hopefully a few coins in her possession. Her hood was pulled up, obscuring her face as much as possible and hiding all but the most unruly tufts of honey hair.

Her mother had said she had gotten her father's coloring, and had said it fondly, but Salene couldn't imagine what the man could have possibly looked like. When questioned about his appearance she had usually given a vague answer along the lines of he was breathtakingly handsome but the more Salene pushed the more she began to suspect her mother couldn't remember anything about him, including his name.

She had watched the other patrons in the inn with interest, still amazed by the variety of people in Drannon. She had grown up in a nearly all human section of Calestra where more merchants stayed than adventurers so until she had started traveling she hadn't seen many of the other races or the colorful diversity of occupations they may have.

When the man burst in at first she tried to draw back further into the shadows but as his tale poured from his mouth her heart went out to him. She had never had a child but she knew loss of a loved one.

"I Be Gamard the Grim! Brother Gamard of the Knights of Holy Anger! This Emerald Braid is My Khord Badge of Honor for Rescuing a Kidnapped Khord Child a Few Months Ago! I Will Find Your Daughter!"

When the Khord roared his name and his intent she slipped from the corner and approached the man.

“I have no fancy name or order to call my own, but I can assist in finding a child,” her voice was soft but her intent was strong enough to make it reach the man's ears. She wouldn't advertise her particular abilities, but a knowledgeable eye would be able to hazard a decent guess at the very least. “If Gamard the Grim will allow me to join him of course,” she added as a bit of an afterthought.
