Topic: Halp! First time DMing.
Subject: Oh yeah

Had the monk turned on the party at one point because they were trying to kill the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and he wouldn't allow it.

Also the half-orc took a potion that he found on the floor (really?! who drinks stuff they find on the floor in a place you just fought carrion crawlers?!) and it healed him but as a side effect he got really paranoid about the rest of the group betraying him and leaving him down there. (Amazing roleplaying on the part of my player by the way, extra experience for a beautiful performance.)

And I got to experience the joy of secret notes from the DM. *dramatic music* MUAHAHAHA

Subject: World Community Grid. Wanna help cure cancer?

So I've been running on the grid for 42 straight days now without issue and have decided I trust it enough to pass it on to other people without worrying about it causing performance issues or whatnot with their computer. (*laughs* performance issues.... >.> hush I know I'm immature)

Anyway, It's an amazing way to do something without doing anything. Heck, even when I do nothing but hop online to check my threads on here and my email I can feel good knowing I've been helping search for a cure for AIDS or a clean water supply for villages in Africa. I won't try to explain how it works since they can tell you in all the fancy words on the site, but I can say I sometimes forget it's even there, it doesn't slow down my computer or my internet at all.

If we get a few members on there maybe the staff would okay making a team and when they finally figure out how to fix muscular dystrophy or something we could be like "yup, we helped with that."

My cute little widget is a link, so if you're interested clicky and it will take you to the main page.

if it hadn't been her first time playing. *shakes head*

I love to see people playing creative characters, but I would like for them to have a basic grasp of the rules of the game first.

Which leads me to people not researching their stuff. If you want to play a character that is a sailor... you should study up on the parts of a ship or if you want to play a blacksmith you should know the difference between a great sword and a longsword.

Normally I'm up for people being creative but I had a player want to play a bi-polar transgendered Druid which I just didn't even know what to say to. How do you respond to that? I have no trouble with any of those things on their own, but combined it was just too much.

"My parents were murdered and I was taken in by a *insert passing, wandering, local* *insert class here* and they raised me as their own. Then they were murdered horribly by *most hated enemy* and that's why I'm an adventurer."
I've heard it waaay too many times.

Also blatantly ripping off a character already in existence and denying it despite only MINOR changes on the player's part. I don't care that your dark elf renegade with purple eyes uses twin rapiers instead of scimitars, I recognize that character.

Subject: Hooked 'em

So tonight went insanely well. One of my players dropped AGAIN but he wasn't missed a bit. The three of us had a complete blast.

I basically just did a simple little 9 room dungeon for them with some tricks put in for the pure joy of it.

There was a sword they had to get with a cage around it. They basically had to traverse the whole dungeon several times to get the key to turn the lever to open the cage. I put an ooze in a treasure chest, razorfish in a pool they had to climb into and a succubus inhabiting a portrait that enthralled them if they failed a will check while looking at it.

Had my players tearing up over the death of an NPC and actually had them freaking out OOC as well as in... so I'm considering it a win all around. They only pulled the rug out from under me twice and I managed to hide those minor mess ups decently well.

So tonight's my fist run with more than one player, have three people coming to play. I actually designed a dungeon this time with all sorts of dangerous goodness. One of the players who has actually played with a different group made the mistake of saying he thinks I'm too nice to be a good DM so I've decided the kid gloves are coming off for this run.

Any of the more diabolical DMs have any fun suggestions I could use that won't TPK my people but leave them whimpering? I have some stuff but I'd love to get some ideas from someone more evil than myself.

I will have to get all my stuff together to transfer patterns... and locate a printer.

Okay, so I need an idea to represent each staff member first. Facelicks have Eol covered... I need something about everyone else though.

Haha, that I am Ody.

Can't find the size of needles I need for my dice bag at any local stores. Gonna have to order online. >.<

I would actually like to use this chapstick at some point Eol. I'll make you some of your flavor up and send it to you though... assuming you don't mind me using dog drool. None of us have salivary glands quite as active as yours.

Welcome to the Inn. ^_^

*hands you a towel* You're going to need that for when Eol shows up. His welcomes are kinda soggy.

Everyone here's really nice and are glad to help so if you have any question you can shoot any of the staff members a PM. Here's hoping you have as much fun here as I do.

Do you think it would be cherry with a cinnamon kick? Cuz I was thinking about doing an Inn inspired chapstick flavor.

So I've been trying to get back into knitting. I'm not particularly good at it, but it keeps my hands busy.

Photobucket

I just finished this yesterday. In case Grugg swings by this is his scarf, I asked if he wanted a scarf and he said yes. XD

For the record, pardon the destroyed couch. We have a lot of animals and we frankly hate this couch.

Next project: Dice bag

While I really love the others. This is my fave of the gaming webcomics. :3 One of the first questions my friend asked me when he discovered that I was DMing was "Are you going to do that while you're you.. know... being meaner than usual?"

Is it too much if I make a Killer Rabbit comment? >.>
