More about Takley: (look up night reign campaign for more info) Coming from a shunned hafling village, he was raised to practice necromancy and worship the moon. This was not normal in any other village, but he stood against this practice and was himself shunned from entering again...this did not stop him. He continued to sneak in amidst the dead of the night when all were done whatever they did inn the waking hours. One week he was away someplace else and he felt a curse placed upon him, one that he would continue to not understand for a very long time. His eyes would glow green when his emotions ran high, he saw people as is they were rotten corpses walking around as if they were still alive. He went back a week later and his village was destroyed and a word placed on a house...no wait, his house "Herem". Yet he could not read it and when he walked around cities heheard the word described as devoted to total destruction and that it was completed on a halfling village by all the other races, his anger grew; yet he snickered and thought to himself "No, we are not totally destroyed!" On hearing about a warning that described a monster army coming to rid the land of humans and the like he leaped at the chance.

DM's Notes:

If you go more than a week without posting and don't give me a reason why (in advance preferably) the Inactivity Medusa will turn your character to stone. If you go more than two weeks without posting, I'm putting your character in my statue garden never to be redeemed.

Being stupid on purpose may incite me to maim your character. Your character will not survive more than one mauling.

On that note, I don't like killing off characters. I know you guys put a lot of work into them. However if you'd like to drop the game and you'd like to die spectacularly, tell me and I'll arrange it.

If you have any questions, concerns or comments you know where the PM button is. I'm pretty much on all the time.

I will answer questions about anything about Siord (which is the name of the kingdom btw) that would be common knowledge, anything visual involved in a scene that is easily noticed or anything in my wording that's murky, but there are some things I will require that you ask in character. If you are unsure, all you can do is ask. XD

People of Importance:

Bonestaff the WarpMage: Little is actually known about this warlord. Only the highest of officers ever see his face. When seen in battle he wears full spiked black plate (cliche bad guy leader much?)

Lady Aleya (Ah-leigh-uh): Bonestaff's female half Drow half surface elf second in command. She is both diplomat and assassin. She is also the main recruiter for the army.

Paagdish: The half-orc directly in charge of this particular group. Is quick to reinforce lessons with a whip if a soldier is particularly stubborn. Prefers to stand back and watch, looking for talent for Lady Aleya, who he is fiercely loyal to.

Tyrael: Mysterious Paladin that just arrived.

Topic: Join the Revolution Needs New Player!!
Subject: Join the revolution (Holy Harpies, full already!?)

“How many times has your way of life been threatened by the so called heroes? How many nights do you tuck your children into bed wondering if a band of murdering adventures will come through and slay your whole village for the meager gold and supplies you may have? How often do you find yourself defending artifacts rightfully won in combat by your ancestors while these mercenaries slaughter the innocent and steal it away in the night? They call us savage, brutish, inferior... Their insults must be paid in blood.... it is time we remind these charlatans that we are not their playthings... it is time we band together, my brothers and cousins... and stake our own claim... Let us prove it is not just these filthy humans that can build an empire upon the bloodied soil of others.”

Whispers of revolution have been building for months. There was tension rising in the West and groups of creatures that normally wouldn't be caught dead in the same place were banding together under the leadership of a person known only as Bonestaff the WarpMage. His second-in-command and the one that addressed the assembled crowd now, was a half-drow woman. Her ability to light fire to the hearts of the oppressed as well as carve them out of the enemy with deft blades had gained respect among those who normally would have never followed a half-breed, let alone a woman.

“Those who wish to have a haven in the new word we create come forward now. All of you have a purpose in our cause, no skill will go unused. You will not be turned away for your flaws and will not be punished for your heritage. The only thing required of you will be obedience. Your dedication will advance you, we reward excellence. Come forward. You may join the revolution... or be crushed under it.”

You are a new recruit in a revolutionary army. Just having graduated from “boot camp” of sorts you've been drilled in the basics of combat (you are level one) and outfitted with the barest tools of your station. (You are given no more than 100 gold worth of starting gear.) You've been given a backpack with a bedroll, waterskin, flint and steel, some rope (cuz what can't you use rope for?) and a day's worth of the meagerest of rations. You've been assigned to a group and will be undergoing a test of sorts. This is your chance to prove yourself.

Alrighty folks, you're welcome to make any bizarre being you can concoct with a few stipulations. To roll stats roll 4d6, reroll 1s, the drop lowest number. You may play any race from the player's guide or monster manuals so long as they are adjusted level +2 or less and have NO racial hit die. Classes come from the player's handbook for now, MAY allow more later. Alignments are restricted to neutral or evil only. We'll be killing people, good alignments won't take that well. This is a homebrew setting I'm still working, need to put flesh to bare bones. We're using the gods from the player's guide. Any questions just shoot me a PM. This is my first attempt at Dming so bear with me.

5 people limit please. ^_^

cdnflirt - half drow cleric
Jozan1- hob goblin fighter
Takley - halfling rogue
Gboy - Will eventually think of something I'm sure
Tiamat - something dragony and magicy

Thank you much Tiamat. Luckily they don't know the difference between a halfling and a gnome, let alone the rules enough to contest me on them.

It's only twenty-five posts... I'm a chatter box...

So somehow flirt and Jozan have half conned half encouraged me to DMing on here... O_O

Edit: My boyfriend gave me a jumpdrive with all the 3.5 stuff I could ever use and then some, thank you though. ^_^

Just the player's book if you're strapped for cash. My friends and I played with just a player's book and we made up monsters and stuff (remember, we were fifth graders...) All the really important rules are in there and if you wanna use actual momsters there are tons of monster databases online. You don't have to keep the windows open if you don't like, just jot down the important info on a memo pad.

Edit: wait, baby stuff?

In the fifth grade. XD It's in BAAAAD shape. I have pdf copies of the monster manuals but I have the hardback of the DM and player's guides.

I found the DM guide for as little as 15$ on Amazon, you may be able to find it cheaper on ebay. I know saving up money for hobbies is hard though.

I like to believe that they were just threatened by a young girl in their game. If it became cool for teenagers to quilt what would they do for christmas presents to them? I am still crap at making quilts but the soldiers I'm sending them to just care that someone cares enough to stab herself repeatedly with straight pens to sew a bunch of blocks together.

Maybe just a giant graph paper pad...

Subject: My determination will force me through

Sadly I have no method of making things go from digital to hard copy at the moment. I had to bribe my sister to print me off some character sheets at her office (luckily her boss likes me cuz I babysat for free when his daughter was younger.) I'll probably just look at some on the computer and Get a ruler and rough it with a poster board. XD

D&D's all about ingenuity, see how far you can push the limits of your imagination. If that leaks over into having to learn to draw a straight line... well my mom would be glad I'm finally trying out something artistic (Parents are professional artists.)

edit: Lots of places. Like when I started trying to learn how to sew quilts I joined this quilting circle site for advice and they just all treated me like a little kid every time I asked an apparently obvious question. I've done a lot of sewing my my short life and don't like being treated like I can't thread my own sewing machine.

Heck I'm not experienced with many games but since I've done everything from sleep to eat with a 3.5 rulebook in my hands for the last week I'm beginning to get a feel for it now. I'd be glad to help you... though that's like the blind leading the blind.

I'll gladly take her off your hands. *nods*

I'm still just in awe at how friendly and supportive everyone has been. Maybe I just usually have bad luck with the general populace of the interwebs but the general response to any uncertainty on most sites is to strip the person of their confidence and then devour their young if they leave it unprotected.

Topic: Why is it...
Subject: You should write it up...

Even if you don't feel confident enough to run it just yet, you should write it up for when you do. You're a good player from what I've seen and if you really wanna give it a shot I'm sure it won't take you long to make that jump. I've read probably fifteen thousand guides and heard advice from an innload of DMs now and they all pretty much whisper the same advice... Hold your breath (cross your fingers, rub your lucky necklace, put on your Frilly Panties of Confidence +1, whatever it takes) and just do it. If you flounder about you can always climb out of the water and try again. People on here are understanding, I found that out yesterday.

And if everyone's having fun, no one is going to care about the mess ups.

and as for players killing each other off, it will probably take a very special group dynamic for it to work without ruffled feathers and whatnot. It would probably have to be a short campaign and kept fairly lighthearted for everyone to come out not against each other's throats.

I always thought there should be more instances that you had the option to be evil. If I ever get brave enough to try my hand at DMing on here, I may run a "be the bad guys" game. Actually I sort of have an idea for it... it's not TECHNICALLY evil from their standpoint, but to everyone else it would be... hmmm....

There doesn't appear to be too much going on right now, but I actually jumped in on an impromtu chat game earlier which was loads of fun. I want to get involved in a game but I have to go about figuring some things out first and have to survive Friday night.

I'm really enjoying everything on here right now. It's been good to be able to talk about gaming again.
