The DVM sensuously licks its lips and expectorates a musical, multicoloured bank account with a buzzing, masculine tenor and high hopes for the Democrats this year.

I must say that is quite impressive, nobody in my family really has any skill in knitting- but man do I wish we did! The scarf and Legend of Zelda gear is terrific, and I love the large pink piggy you've got there!

Nothing like piggies to keep the blues away^^ Perhaps that's the Christmas/winter spirit getting into ye!

I do to, Celeste- so far, my travels on the inn have been nothing short of wonderful. It's amazing what kind of close-knit communities such as this one can be formed online, and it warms my heart to be a part of this one; it's almost like a second family, no?

Perhaps our paths will cross again as I improve and take on more games; GMing is something that I'm not willing to try yet, but one day in time^^ I'm glad I could introduce myself!

Surely you can't blame it all on Eol here! The guy's been falsely accused! Getting licked is like one of the greatest coming-of-age ceremonial welcome things on this site. I swear, when I was licked I nearly fell out of my chair. Perhaps it's what Eol's potent slobber concoction does to you

I'm Canada, you're Canada, he's Canada, we're Canadaaaa^^

Just as the words escaped his lips, it seemed, an enormous square of the metal ceiling above their heads came to the floor with a crash, revealing a rather poorly-wrapped and unwelcome gift; all things taken into consideration, the four droids now standing in front of them were only standard B1s, but it filled their hands nonetheless.

A flurry of activity was stirred up immediately, but Riggs' first priority was the Medbay just behind him. He wouldn't abandon his team, but they needed all the resources they could get- the Medbay was one of them, a potentially safe place to go if things got really bad. He stepped backwards and worked the doors to seal; when they did, it was the droids' turn to meet their makers.

One of them was directly in front of Gyro. Riggs took some care in aiming his shot so as not to hit his ally, then gave it a piece of his mind. Heaven hoped the shot would land.

All this action, so little time... I'm going to try and seal off the Medbay and our injured so that they have as much oxygen as possible. They'll need it more than we do for now, and it can give us a safe place to go when everything is finished.
Salvator, I'll throw my frag grenade whenever you need me to. Just tell me when.

As for combat, I'm going to try and pick off the droid directly in front of Gyro- for that 1 is not going to help him in the least- then take care of the guy 2 steps in front of me. I'll post my rolls momentarily...

EDIT: I've made some rolls here. Got a 10 for a use computer check to open the door, and an 18 for my combat action (firing upon the droid nearest to Gyro). Note that I have taken aim for more precision, if it occupies a turn. Shall I roll damages later?

You might be interested in asking him, in case he has a slot or two in one of our games; SirSadaar, a good friend of mine, may have an empty place in his Star Wars: The Imperial March (We just call it SWIM) piece going on right now. If you ask him, he might reply late, as his internet's been kicking the bucket for quite some time now. I don't DM myself- maybe one day or another...

Cheers sir- I hope this helps!

Good to see Eol doing his thing, and the friendly hellos all around are enough to uplift the worst of days^^ I'll just add to it all with a big hello of my own and a warm welcome indeed; I trust you'll find a wealth of gaming opportunities to come, for new games are always sprouting up. Indeed, it was apparent that help was needed; Hodges turned to Riggs in response, and nodded. "Aye, we are all going to need backup, but we will do better if we center ourselves in one room. As that is impossible while guarding the door AND using the comms, I suggest you guard that door way and call out if you see anything."
His directions were quick- for surely he was feeling as fearful as they all were about now- but they were directions, and it gave Riggs a distant comfort to be set with a task to occupy himself with whilst still being useful to everyone else.

"Roger that." He jogged down the hall to the specified doorway and turned to face the others, and found himself staring at a shower of sparks pouring from the ceiling. They were being gutted from the outside; he could picture a swarm of droids rushing in from the holes in the thousands, and it was not a pleasant thought. His vision refocussed to the scene behind the sparks: Gyro had joined them, had released the safety on his pistol. Hodges' voice floated in on his comlink.

"I'm thinking those clankers need some help making a hole, and I love to be helpful. If any of you have any Detonite, now is the time to use it. Right where they are cutting. I want that door they are making to take a few of them apart."

Detonite?? "Ah, kriffit- I only have a frag grenade," Uttered Riggs through his own com. "Will that help? I can toss it over if need be!"

"...Oh, totally- listen, can you make it? ...-oof!" As Tiffany stood, motionless beyond hand gesticulations and the occasional turn of the head, a large crowd of amusement park busybodies bumbled past her, bumping into her every so often. As they went, however, the bumping and pushing gradually grew more aggressive, coming to a height as a large figure thrust her out of its way onto the ground. At the same time, an arm, almost out of nowhere, wrenched her phone out from her grasp. It happened so fast, she could only cry out in vain.

It took a moment for her head to clear. "Ooh... what... HEY! MY PHONE!! GIVE ME BACK MY..." she broke off, and looked upward at the two people standing before her. One of them, a gothic-looking girl- she looked to be about her age- she couldn't recognize; the other one was a well-dressed man whom she thought looked oddly familiar. The two seemed distressed, as though something terrible had happened.
The man regarded her curiously for a moment or two, perhaps sharing the odd sense of familiarity, then turned back to the goth girl and said, " I think we should move on. I think Jade would be attracted to the smaller, noisier rides..."

Jade? That was a familiar name. As the two above her milled between each other, she scuttled to her feet, brushed herself off and regarded them with puppy-eyed interest. "Are you looking for someone, mister??"

Subject: The roof...

The seconds which slipped by during the wait for a response from their possible rescuers were agonizing; it wasn't until the next message came through that Riggs was able to release his breath.
"This is Lieutenant Omega, CT 0084 4573. Do you know who is attacking troopers? What's the size of the enemy force, how many clones are still fit for combat? We need to know, troopers!"

The voice was gruff, like that of one accustomed to many years of combat; such an ally would be quite handy to the team if he'd heed their plea for help. Gyro, already at the com, answered the voice's question accordingly:

"The Separatist's Lieutenant. We are unable to determine the amount. We have about seven men in fighting shape, one wounded and 8 MIA. Our 4 NCO's are missing too." Then, a momentary pause set in; Gyro seemed to be listening to something, shoulders cocked slightly. He turned back to the comlink and said, as if speaking to everybody at once, "Uhh, hate to be the bringer of bad news, but the droids are enveloping us. They are on the roof now."

Riggs choked as his heart almost leapt into his throat. Throughout this whole mess, he'd never been directly involved in any real combat; now, there was a high potential that he'd have to face some real enemies. The blaster pistol he now held tightly in his hand was cold, filling him with dread. Nevertheless, there was no time to be scared- taking his initiative, he voiced his next actions.

"Guys, I'm going to go out and help Hodges and whomever else is out there. Gyro, soldier-" he addressed the clone- "thanks for all the help!" One had to be courteous. With that, he jogged to the door and called out to Hodges: "D'you need backup?"

For a second or two, there was silence in the room- or at least what could be called a silence, as the console was alive with the sound electrical wiring and equipment being fumbled with and manipulated, the clanking of tools against metal, and the occasional jolt here and there.

"You don't need to be so mean about it," Gyro complained. Riggs was under pressure, and right now he had his hands full, but that still didn't allow him- and much less require him- to lose his head at a time like this.

"Look, Gyro, I'm sorry, man- but this is just crazy, and I'm under a lot of pressure- and heck, what if those guys can save us out there... all in all, I'm sorry. Really. Now let's get this thing done and we can take a load off." It felt better to apologize, but Gyro was already at the console, working on the computer as he finished. Riggs picked up where he'd left off, too; his head was a little clearer after having let off some steam in his outburst. In no time, he was back at it with the others.

Five minutes passed, a five minutes that seemed only like five seconds- it was amazing how the time could slip by in desparation- when the message suddenly came clear:

"Repeat, this is Lieutenants Omega and Caboose. Repeat, this is Lieutenants Omega and Caboose. Come in Troopers, we received your distress signal. What's going on down there?"

"Wha- it worked! It worked! Gyro, get the-"

But before he could finish, Gyro was already at the comlink, shouting hurriedly, "We're under attack! Droids are incoming! We are outgunned, and being overrun! We need reinforcements!"
Perhaps it would be okay for now, and he could regroup with Hodges and the others, but it felt better to him to wait for a response.

"Probably the best for you, as you can shoot past everyone else." Linopas nodded in response, and, waiting for everyone else to pass by, fell into the formation behind them. As they walked, he clutched his DLT-20A and looked around him, trying to take in as much of the environment as he could. It was comforting to have his gun so close at hand, and the adhesion grip it provided furthered this feeling, knowing it couldn't slip out of his hand so easily. He didn't really know why he thought about it so much, but comfort was comfort, and it came from strange places in strange times like these.

At length, spanning roughly twenty minutes (or so he supposed; he never really kept track), Linopas could perceive blaster shots in the distance. Faint they were, indeed this was true, but they were there nonetheless, and it was very likely that they would come to reach this very group. The discovery of the corpse of a brutally mangled stormtrooper on the ground momentarily shook his consciousness.

"Seems like those Tapiens started earlier than Dierkan said!" Their sergeant's voice could be heard, but Linopas was speechless. Obviously, the higher power they were intercepting was very much active on this little hole of a planet. "Come on guys, double time!"

And with that, they were off on a jog. Stumbling slightly as he trotted along the uneven ground, the gran sniper cocked his longrifle and was ready for anything.

"So all you have to do is head north beyond the Keep and see if you can determine what is causing the wildlife to act strangely; any questions?"

Nefrelle thought about this, as she took another bite of her toast and strawberry jam. Isn't that strange... wildlife doesn't just start acting up so suddenly. She began to consider the options: it was unlikely for the trouble to be stirred by a group of rabble-rousing beastmasters, though that wasn't all that unlikely. However, by the sound of it, something else seemed to have been going on. If it was indeed beastmasters, or other troublemakers alike, they'd have been discovered and chased away.

"Have the townsfolk mentioned anything about magic, or the use of arcane arts to stir up these creatures they have?" She asked. If it was magic, then this had the potential to become very interesting...

As he waited tensely for a response, the sound of blaster fire outside the door was the only thing penetrating the silence of waiting as Riggs' breath was caught in his throat. Eventually, after what seemed like minutes of inactivity, a crackling voice came over the com and out of the receiver: ".... is CT 8364.... Omega and Caboose..... situation? .... Repeat....." ...and the message was dead.

"WE HAVE TO FIX THIS, SOMEONE IS OUT THERE!" Cried the clone at the door, slamming his hand against the console. Riggs nearly jumped out of his suit with a yelp- certainly, he wasn't expecting that. He regained his composure momentarily afterwards, noticing the clone digging around in the circuitry beneath him.

"You kriffing buckethead, of course we're going to fix this! Now slow the heck down, get your hands out of the hardware and listen to what I've found. It's useless to begin a task when you don't know everything about it." With that, he arrested the other's work with a clap on his shoulders, and told him about the strange power anomaly he'd found.

When he was almost finished, the voice of Hodges outside could be heard calling his name. "Riggs! Gyro! Whoever..." He drew a breath, awaiting a distress call... "...How's that comm coming!?"

Riggs was growing impatient with the chaos of it all. "WE'RE GETTING ON IT! I'VE ALREADY SENT OUT A DISTRESS CALL!!" He screamed, startling the clone beside him. "Rrrgh. Sorry, buddy- to sum it all up..." and with that, he finished what he was trying to say. Finally, it was time to work. With the other clone raring to go, he pulled apart some wires and cables, handed the other some tools, and began to work.

And as he worked, one more voice called from outside: "How's it coming? Can I help?" It was Gyro, who had caught Riggs at a bad time.
He hesitated momentarily, for too many cooks could spoil the broth; however, Gyro was very good with computers, whereas Riggs was a mechanic who specialized in vehicles and machines rather than computerized technology. It was something he had been trying to teach himself on the side for many years, but he didn't quite feel comfortable utilizing the skill quite yet.

Eventually, he confirmed Gyro's help- it might come in handy- and shouted out to him in frustration, "Hah?! Yes, sure, fine! Don't stand there- start testing the computer for us, and tell us what you see- AND DO IT NOOOOWWWW!!"

Indeed, just as the others had predicted, Nefrelle came shuffling into the inn not too long after they'd taken their seats, still slightly dazed from having just arisen. With a cheery nod, she waves to the man at the counter; his name had escaped her right then.

Sauntering up to the table at which her companions awaited her company, she greeted them with a smile, "Good morning, children, I hope you slept well. Isn't it beautiful out there?" Looking up at Kal'Ar, who towered over herself, she said, "You look like you're ready to get going; I must admit I am too. Perhaps, perhaps they will have a job or two for us today." She grins kindly, meaning well by the gesture.

The nu mou climbed up onto her seat, setting her backpack and quarterstaff to the side, and was more than ready to have a bite to eat.

Subject: There's something strange going on here.

As Riggs got to work on the mechanical network of wires, processors, connections, and transistors that was the main long-coms console, he could feel his own mental hardware firing to life. Everything came naturally, and it felt good to be back where he was most useful. He was comforted by the fact that all the stillness, the waiting, the boredom had not nulled him.
As he worked, he discovered the problem; just an EMP, he thought to himself with a smirk. He'd been trained, drilled in EMP diagnostics and repair ever since he was a... wait.

"What on Earth..." he muttered in bewilderment. This wasn't just the work of any old EMP. There was definitely something else going on here- something was interfering with the power flow to the consoles, as if deliberately trying to cut them off. He couldn't quite tell without further analysis, but it was very likely that it was set up deliberately by someone... or something. Caught up in his excitement and shock, Riggs was tempted to tell the other clone about it, or analyze it outright, but he very well knew of the greater importance at stake here... and his original motive for coming here. The power anomaly would have to wait for now, while the coms were working. In a practised move, he punched in the correct long-range coordinates and, upon the ready, cried into the receiver:

"This is Outpost # 8394, located on the Uden Fen asteroid in the Outer Rim territories, and we are under attack by an unknown assailant! We have casualties. I repeat, we have casualties- request backup immediately!" Tense seconds passed as he paused, allowing the message to sit, then repeated. "This is Outpost # 8394, located on the Uden Fen asteroid in the Outer Rim..."

As she stood in line, awaiting her turn to enter the house, Tiffany looked around the carnival and took in some more of its sights. As her thought process wasn't terribly complex, her observations weren't, either. Eventually, her glimmering eyes fell upon the line of people leaving the house: their faces where stark white, as if they'd been caked with talcum powder. Truly, a fun house was supposed to instil fright and terror for sake of amusement... but these people seemed more than just amused. Some were reeling. Others were weeping, clutching their clothes. Nobody was smiling, or chatting lightly with their friends about it... all she saw was misery.

Misery, perhaps; now, however, Tiffany was wondering. "This thing seems preeeetty scary... maybe even too scary." She remembered the awful dreams she'd had when a group of friends showed her Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining". Suddenly, she ducked out of the line, giggling in spite of herself. "I think this'll be way too scary for me alone, but if I'm with my friends, then maybe it'll be better!"

Her hand darted down into her purse and withdrew a hot pink cell phone. All her friends were on a collective speed dial, and she called up the ringleader. "Heeey, Jessie, it's me, Tiffany! ... Omigosh, you would not believe this. I'm in that carnival that just came into town- and it is, like, soooo creepy-cool! ... Oh yeah, you gotta come down here. ... Oh, totally- listen, can you make it? ..."

Listening as intently as he could, Linopas contemplated the information. It was odd to him, that a once-mercenary commander could become a full-on Imperial target. There must have been something truly miserly about the guy, he supposed, to put him with such a bounty; supposing there was one. 'First time I'd ever heard of 'im,' he thought.

"All right, then, seeing as we're... obviously done here, I'm more than ready to go... I'd love to see where this command centre is, anyway." Although Linopas liked this forest and its marvellous blue glow-he'd never seen bioluminescent plant life of yet, and it was fascinating- he was not terribly fond of the vast coverage it gave to what very well could be a terrific swarm of enemies at any corner. Though not the most dangerous place he'd ever been situated upon to carry out a mission, it had the potential to be ugly.

"Sergeant," he called to Cam, "shall I take the rear guard again?"
