Its both. I started out wanting to make a game that took Pathfinder feats and ideas where applicable and added them in to 3.5, but after a bit I realized that just made it Pathfinder, so I've been defaulting more to those rules. I'll admit its sloppy but its working so far.

Have some general questions.
1) How many tricks does an animal companion initially have? It has an int of 2 so it cna learn up to six tricks but how many does it start with?
2) Can you add your dex mod to damage rolls if it uses finesse?

1) I would say that the animal companion only starts with the "Bonus tricks" that require no time to train.

And alright in 5E you add dex mod to damage for finesse weapons so I was just clarifying
