Endure Cold.........

Has the party been covered with the Endure Cold spell?

Ulthok was going to ask Talca to join him leading the party through the hall, but wanted to be sure he won't freeze.

Did we do that way back before moving down the stairs?
==========================================

Ok.. well we seem to have gotten this Endure spell thing a bit confused. Back on page 258 we indicated that the spells were cast, but then later at the pool room Cor cast it on Ulthok so he could search the room. Due to the New Year Holiday time lags we seem to have got stuff a bit mixed up.

We need to straighten this out now before we get in combat. Below is Tann's post that would indicate we did have the Endure Cold Spell cast. Later Sirene cast the spell to make the warmth bubble which was keeping everyone from taking continuous minor cold damage.

First Post 2017
With the trap door leading to the 2nd level closed and the room's temperature once more bearable the group of eight relaxed. Clear it was to them to venture down its stairs meant finding a way or ways to stay heated. Lacking any real winter attire the only solution lay in magic and to that end a few spells were needed. The main one as agreed by all being that of the spell Endure.

With the party's clerics having no choice but to sleep and once more pray for new spells the eight spread out their bedrolls and started to rest themselves. Sirene wanting to gain more insight into the stone coffins before them took a moment and cast Legend Lore upon them. As she listened she gained nothing but a sense of old age, perhaps 70-100 years old. No threat of danger, no riddle of time, or a puzzle to solve, the creation of stone before her quiet. Moving back to her bedroll she joined the rest in slumber.

The period of resting quiet, even without a guard rotation set, the cleric's, mages, and the fighters found themselves all well rested and ready to start the journey downward. Casting the needed spells on one another and dressing as warmly as possible Ulthok gathered the two gems and approached the trap door.
The Halfling Mage/Thief once more placed the gems within the two key slots and turned them to the right to open.. Nothing... A quick turn back left and a second turn to the right once more came up empty, the trap door remaining in place...

Tann, this may have to be a GM call based on these posts. Protection against cold for now is a major game item and we need to be very clear on how it stands before continuing posts.

.

At this point, the party would be smart enough to ensure they cast the required spells before moving. We have had enough close calls to have it on everyone's mind. It is certainly a GM call but unless something happens that negates the spells I believe we should not have to continually post it. Just remove the spells from the casters list as required and call it even.

What I'll do

Is consider the Endure Spells cast before you all leave the room you found Eol in. I'll take off the amount needed to cover 8 of you as Nimu has her own protection already on.

(EDIT) Ok took 4 each from Rayne and Cor giving everyone Endure Cold.

...

Sorry for the lack of attendance this/last week, a personal issue arose compounded by daily workplace issues. By fluke, it happened when a week was delayed anyways.

I am more than happy to give out 4 uses of endure cold/ heat, but would iron vigil not cover that for Rayne herself? Unless I am misinterpreting the spell (not unlikely, I rarely play casters) it seems like it would allow resistance to cold as well.

Heads up

A heads up: I'm headed off on vacation, part of which will include some peaceful time in the mountains without internet. I'll be gone about two weeks, although only about a week of that will be in the wilds. I have no idea how frequently I will be able to post, although I will try.

If I don't manage a post, just assume the big guy acts like a typical big guy - standing guard, keeping watch and wondering what those flakey magey types are up to!

BRR

While -40F is cold it is only "naturally child" in many areas of the world. -40C would be REALLY cold.

Cold

That was actually why I was asking.

-40 Fahrenheit is cold. But I live in North Dakota and I experience that (straight up, not counting wind chill) every couple of years. With wind chill we hit that once or twice a year. It isn't pleasant, but it doesn't freeze your lungs out either.

Just checking in.

Just popped in to catch up with what is going on, and I have to state: -40F is the same as -40C. It's the only place where the two temperature scales meet and are the same temperature.

I'll keep checking in to see how the games are going. I hope to come back and continue RPing here when I can.
