Hold down shift when you hit enter.  You get one line.  Just enter gets you two.

Hi everyone

I spoke to Olan and he said it would be ok if I played Chief Cook in medical.  I'll try to do a good job and not disappoint.

I do have a couple of questions about what's going on:

The CMO will be a new arrival I take it?  Has she reported aboard already?  I didn't see a post yet regarding it.

The current events seem to be shortly after the last mission, correct?

I look forward to rping with everyone and I'm sure that the new CMO and Cook will have a lot to talk about and collaborate on. 😏

Well that's all for now.

    Yay

Yes, she did not play in Edge of Duty.  She has not posted yet, but her character could be there and she just needs to backpost it.

The current events seem to be shortly after the last mission, correct?

Five days have passed since the Peregrine docked at SB 118

I look forward to rping with everyone and I'm sure that the new CMO and Cook will have a lot to talk about and collaborate on. 😏

Well that's all for now.

    Yay more people

Finally got my internet back!

And was able to post, too!

I just have a quick question or two, then I'll edit and add to the post as appropriate.

First off, since the ship is not underweigh, would Nyle be wrong in leaving the OPS Station unmanned to try and find CDR Zai?

Second, is there an Ops Office aboard? Or, like, an center area where they work from? I checked the Tech Specs on A Call to Duty but there were a couple of offices with acronyms that I didn't know so I'm wondering if I'm missing something there.

Finally: I know this isn't a super big thing in my post, but I have someone refering to CDR Zai as Captain Zai while he is in command of the ship. I know that officers given the command of starships are referred to as captain, no matter their rank, but does that apply when one is only temporarily in command or would Commander Zai remain Commander Zai?

Thanks guys! So sorry that took so long.

Excellent first post!  I am super stoked to have you, Giddy.

1) You may leave the bridge, but Ops needs to be manned.  Feel free to sumon one of the NPCs to do it.

2) Tech specs are a far cry from full deck plans.  Every department head has an office to work out of.  I'm not sure as to the specific deck for ops, but either I or Eol will answer that.

3) A starship is always under command of a Captain - which can be confusing, since it is both a title and a rank.  Technically, either is okay to use in most situations.  If you have been given orders by the CO, it's best to refer to them as "Captain", as they are filling that role.  But no one on board would blink if you used "Captain", "Commander", or "Lieutenant Commander" as Zai's title, particularly if you were looking for him.

Face to face, you'd probaby use "Captain" or "Commander" only.  With him being the ranking officer, "Lieutenant Commander", if used to address him directly, might feel a little rude, like you are pointing not that he's not REALLY that senior of an officer.

Hope that helps!

hmmm

Doing some quck homework, I'm not finding the COO's office specified.

I see three logical locations, in rough order of probability:

1) Deck 4.  Most of the department head offices are located here.  CMO, Counselor (which we don't have), CSO, FCO are all here.
2) Deck 5. A busy deck with a lot going on.  CTO office is here (due to Security and the brig) but I could see it going here with some Ops items here.
3) Deck 2. XO office is here, so are some Ops items.

Unless someone has some concrete data, I'd be okay with you picking any of these and calling it good.

Interesting...

...never noticed that there wasn't an Ops Chief's Office listed on the Saber specs.

My initial thoughts on the matter would be to take the unused Counselor's office on Deck 4 and make that home for the COO, I think. That said, I'm sure there is plenty of space, elsewhere, for the Ops chief to carve out a niche - I say it's up to you, Giddy. Pick a spot and park it.

Also - loved the first post! Bravo!

Finally - got some posts and contributions to posts working this morning. Should have those ready to whomever they're owed in a bit.

Yeah, it would make a lot of sense to just use the counselor's office.  Waste not, and so on and so forth.

All right!

Just got a frillin' cargo bay's worth of Maganization flung back to Crowe and, onmce I get some food in my gullet, I'll get back to addressing Thorson and getting Tochi's spotted behind back on the bridge so we can blow this popsicle stand! (At the Captain's discretion, of course.)

Scrolling scrolling scrolling........

Just question on if it is my computer or the site format. I noticed that the on the story page recent posts go way across the page and I have to scroll to read to the end of the lines. It is not like that in the Q&A.

Ody

I'm not seing it, either. Everything looks normal (as normal gets in our corner of the world weird web, anyway). Anyway you could grab a screenshot or two and wing it my way via PM or e-mail? I might be able to identify something, there. (No promises... just looking to help.)
