The Good Old RPG Games...

I was thinking the other day about all the Good Old RPG games that were around before the RPG computer game days.

A couple I played and miss today are:

Paranoia
Gammaworld
Car Wars

When we werent playing D&D we would break it up by playing one of these which helped change up the pace by a quick switch in genre.

Anyone else play these?

Anyone else have some of their favorite?

Heck yeah!

Played all three!

In fact, my friend still keeps the Car Wars Boxed set in his car, just in case I hold another tournament... ahh the good old days.

My absolute favorite game of all time is Chill. A small, handwritten book published back in the 80's I think... horror... horror.. I won't let my players even look inside the book. Makes the game so much better when you have no idea what's going on.

Paranoia

Yeah.. everything was treason in that game.

We always played that game about twice a year to kind of work out frustrations the players had regarding each other.

Nothing like getting even by blasting that commie red level mutant who just happened to be the same player who 'accidentally' destroyed your favorite vorpal weapon.

I too used to play them all, but Paranoia was simply awesome. I wonder if anyone used to play a secret agent game called Top Secret? Not really one with good rules, but for some reason gave me a very nice memory.

Other old games, that come to mind.. Palladium RPG and Rifts. Fabulous games. Just great. And Kevim Long's art! Beautiful!

Battletech of course. MERP. Runequest (boy how I hated the magic rules). And while not an rpg, Blood Bowl was always good fun.
