Anniversary

Today I have been married to my sweet hubby for 31 years.

We were married at 7:30 pm in Stokesdale, NC.
At our reception we served cake, punch and coffee.
My mother-in-law made my dress, my sister made my cake,my mom paid for the flowers, a friend of ours took pictures as a wedding gift and I sent out store bought invitations which were handwritten with time and date.
In all our wedding didn't cost over $500.

After the wedding we drove 25 miles to a McDonald's where we ate "dinner" and then spent our wedding night at a Howard Johnson's across the street.

We finally took a 'real' honeymoon on our 21st anniversary (10 years ago)

Ours wasn't the big glamorous affairs people have today but it worked for us

Wow

That's some impressive cost management. But anyways, congratulations on the anniversary. I have no suitable Anniversay gifs to link you to however...but I'll look around.

Mucho Congratulations! When there is love, there is no need for all the frills and pomp. I am very happy to hear about your anniversary and wish you all the best in the coming years.

Glad to hear it

Love is always a good thing. Me, I spent $10k on mine, but I regret nothing. How many times in your life do you have an excuse to throw that kind of money at a party, right?

Congrats!

Sounds like it was a humble affair. Kinds wish mine had been too. You set expectations with the expenses (not that my wife expects such frills...I don't think so anyway).

Gratz

Congratulations on 31 years. Heh. I'm not even in a relationship though my friend just had his wedding social last weekend. That's what we do in this part of the world: get other people to pay for our wedding and reception.

Thanks :)

OUR secret is compromise and the tried and true 'do unto others' bit...plus we not only love each other but we also like each other

That's the secret!

Alacrity and I are mere beginners compared to you and yours (18 years this September)but it's true...when times are tough between us we just remember that we are truly committed to each other and that we truly do love each other.

When you remind yourself that the other would never knowingly hurt or disappoint you, it's easier to get past the accidental slights, the forgotten moments or the careless angry statement that can derail other relationships.

Congrats Lyskhala, and may you have 30+ more years to lesson the rest of us on how its done
