idle banter

The tavern -the traditional place to start all adventures, which is why my tavern was always called "The Adventurer's Inn".

I have had some good campaigns that started differently. You wake up in prison with nothing but a loin cloth. You rouse yourself from your hangover to see a woman beside you saying "I do". There is much to be gained from the whole people meeting people part of the campaign. But not when you want a basic dungeon romp. Door, weapons, monsters, traps, more monsters, toss with adventurers and serve with noodles.

I like the "wake up at your own wedding" one.

What other cool starts have you seen/participated in?

hmmm

Me and my friends tried one. I don't know if this would qualify as cool, but we woke up on a battlefield. While the battle was going on around us. We were all level 1 characters. And each army had Dragons patrolling and one army had lots of displacer beasts. I'd say the whole campaing lasted about...4 rounds.

weather

I did a module a few times called "Out of the Rain" - tried it unsuccessful in the forums. The party starts out travelling from a completed adventure and they have been caught in bad rain storms for three days. They are cold, wet, hungry and when they find an abandoned mansion off their path - they go for it without asking too many questions.

hmm

In a game where the characters are able, I sometimes like to start a game at the very end of their last adventure. Sort of like doing it backwards: Instead of going from the tavern to an adventure they go from the adventure to the tavern. They've never actually gotten to the tavern though.

I also like the "wake up in your wedding" scenario. I'll definitely use that someday

Good.

Very good as always! These comics always have me begging
for more. The jokes were good and I liked the references. Great work guys!

Glad you liked it!

Keep your eyes open: Monday's strip will give you your first opportunity to see the "in game" characters.
