Hey, I'm new here

Hey old RPers, just wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm new to online roleplaying (I did RPing on the RuneScape forums, but that was hardly RPing ) and I hope I'm not hopelessly lost here. So anyway, my point is, hi, and I welcome me to you guys.

But also, while I'm here, can someone tell me how the free form RPG forum works? Thanks a billion

WooHooo!!! I get to be first...

...and no one even had the chance to warn you!

No offense intended, of course.... I do that to everybody. Now that my slobbery exuberance is out of the way, let me seriously welcome you to the Inn and assure you that you'll most likely not be out of place here... our Innmates are about as diverse and accepting as you'll find anywhere and more than helpful with just about anything. I loves 'em all.

Aaaaaand, as far as how the freeforms work... what specifically did you want to know? How to start a new one? How to join one already in progress? How to recruit players to join?

Just let me know and I (or any one of our other overly-enthusiastic staff or Innmates will be glad to try and point you in the right direction.

OK, I guess I'll accept that face lick...

Basically how to join an existing RP. It looks kinda different than what I used to have to do than join a forum before.

Thanks a billion

In a lot of cases...

...most freeforms are of the "jump right in and start posting" variety so, in those cases, you do just that; find a game you're interested in, click on the Reply link at the bottom of a post, and off you go with your character.

That said, there are free form games that are either "moderated" or "limited to a certain number of players". Nost of the time, these types of free forms will have a blurb in the first post asking you to check the related Recruitment thread for the game in order to "apply" and/or be added to the list of "approved players" (most of these sorts of games will have a link to their recruitment and/or Q&A threads at the top of each page of the game thread so, if it's one of these that strikes your fancy, click on the appropriate link to be directed to the recruitment thread or, sometimes even better, PM the Innmate that started the game and give 'em a big ol' "hello, luv ta join yer party".

Let's seeeee.... what else can i tell ya, here? Hmmmmm... work has addled my brain it seems... I know i was thinking of something else but, for the life of me, I can't quite recall what it was, now...

Anyhoo... here's hoping that I was able to help at least a little bit... if there's anything else I can do to help you out, feel free to let me know here.. shoot me a PM... or whatever.

There he goes again!!

Ya know Eol you really should let the rest of us, your fellow Mods, warn people first about your Face Licking obsession.

But anyway Black_Gypsy let me be the second of the RDINN staff to welcome you to our site. As you may already have seen there’s a lot to do here for sure so take your time and get comfortable with our site. There are a wide variety of AD&D rules sets in use here, even at one time a game run on the very first rules edition.. Basic .. So have no fear there is always something for everyone including those Free Form games you mentioned. The rules for them are pretty straight forward, there are no rules but what the person who starts the game stats upfront. Alot of the time is just true Role Playing based upon dialogue between the people invovled.

Now the Inn has been around quite some time and for a great majority of us is a second home so please treat the Inn, its Staff and all it’s members with respect and we will treat you the same.
So again welcome its always nice to have new people come to us and we hope you’ll feel at home. If you have any questions about the site feel free to PM myself or any other Staff member as needed.

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there, we're as happy as can be!

Just 'cuz you were brave enough to join up! Wear your FaceLick with pride.

So, it begs the question--how did you game before, assuming it was other than old-fashioned face-to-face tabletop?

Ion, if you please, stand this weary traveler a stein of strong mead!

And another..

I too would like to welcome you into the folds of our shared insanity. At times the sheer mass of the forums can seem intimidating, but as others before me have said, ask and someone is sure to help you find what you're looking for.

Saving the prettiest for last for you

Welcome to inn fine Gypsy. This site is very different from the other 'RPing' I've done in the past too, but once I found this nice little spot I stuck around.

Let us know if you need any further guidance.

M.

Not the last

Well, I wasn't the first to welcome you, but I doubt I will be the last. Welcome to the Inn, and the insanity therein. The only people that would be out of place here are those who don't know good fun when they see it. So likely you won't have to worry about that.

Welcome once again, and I hope you find and enjoy what you seek here.

Forum Intimidation Check Failed

Not to be contrary towards Shield Wolf, but I personally find these forums to be cozy and comfy, with a high degree of Snuggle Freshness. I've checked out similar sites, such as a certain Giant's Playground, and while they have some cool toys, the wait for the swings is unbelievable.

Here at RDI, everybody gets a chance, be it the seesaws, the swings, the slides (all three of them!) that rocket-ship thing made of galvanized pipe--good times!

Race ya to the log fort, Black_Gypsy00!
