Order of the Stick

So a while ago I had found this online comic called Order of the Stick. It is a pretty cool comic. deal a lot with roleplay and the funny antics that can ensue. Anyway! I have finally caught up to the newest episode. That's right I have read all 741 episodes. Whew! I tell you that took a while too. I am sure some of you here have probably alraedy heard of or seen OOTS but if not check it out here: www.giantitp.com

Have a good night everyone!

Check the link to Erfworld too....

You can link to Erfworld too from Giants web site. It was the trail of D&D comics that brought me to the Inn in the first place. A friend told me about OOTS and then I started surfing for D&D comic. Found LD, loved it and ventured into the Inn.

Bluff, Bluff, Bluff the Stu-pid O-gre!

"Hold on a second, I think I just failed a Spot Check."
--Belkar Bitterleaf, very early in the story.

I owned five of the six OoTS books before I had a computer. Over the years, the strip has evolved very nicely from a string of gags and tongue in cheek references to game rules into a pretty darn epic tale.

Vaarsuvius still seems feminine to me, so I regard V as such until proven otherwise. Still think the Monster in the Darkness is a Tarrasque, even though posters in the Giant's forum feel they've disproved that.

"I am a Sexy, Shoeless God of War!!"
--Belkar again, after single-handedly slaughtering a brigade of hobgoblins.

Today's strip

Haley got her hair (and possibly her groove) back, and Elan has the Best Day Ever!

How evil is that kingdom?

It's so evil they fill parade balloons with the screams of enslaved air elementals!

Remind me never to game with Rich Burlew--there's no way my logic can repel deviousness of that magnitude!

Belkar

He's my favorite character, but not because of the violence that seems to follow him, but by the way he looks at things and the character development he had a while back.

My other favorite character is the hob-goblin that hangs around with the lich (forgot his name). I find him to be an interesting character, specially since he's probably going to be the leader of the goblinoids.

#759: Yes, Apparently

As Haley suggested/predicted, Elan got those "200 foot tall flaming letters" that finally clued him in to Gen Tarquin (Elan's Dad) and his evilness. The way Tarquin so calmly explained the process by which those letters on the hillside came about was simply chilling! Tarquin obviously put epic ranks in Perform: Evil.

#763 Plotting Something

It may be a tedious wall of text (and a double strip on top of that), but it is also the most GENIUS wall of text in the entire history of the strip!

"If I win, I get to be a King. If I lose, I get to be a LEGEND!"--General Tarquin This is probably the single most brilliant line in all of OOTS! It also illustrates why Lawful Evil is THE alignment hands down.

I don't think Elan's eyes could bug out any more than they did at the end!

Yeah but you also have to remember what he said. The general doesn't believe he falls into their "unrealistic" alignment system.

Which, in those strips, he brought up some good points.

The fists being about the alignment system, which I will agree that in some cases it is important to have them. But as the general mentioned, are "unrealistic" in a game that is trying to be realistic.

The second being about the evil empire. He actually took a look at the other side of the coin. I mean, what does it matter if a good guy comes in and murders the bad guy if that same bad guy had a good, long run. This made me take a retrospective on the whole bad guy/good guy situation.

Here's to Order of the Stick!

"I am somewhat preoccupied telling the Laws of Physics to shut up and sit down."
~Vaarsivus

Ah, the comic that got me vastly interested in Webcomics of all forms, as well as truly begining my interest in D&D (However, I was already familiar with the game, especially through NeverWinter Nights 2, and so got the references inside the comic).

And still to this day remains one of my all time favourite comics, online or not, the other probably being "Goblins".

I make a toast to the comic, and it's creator: Rich Burlew.

Here's to 784 comics of Order of the Stick!

"Turn Undead-"
"Bolster Undead-"
"Stab Undead!"
~Durkon Thundershield, Evil Goblic Cleric and Belkar Bitterleaf respectively
