Hail and Well Met! I'm a long time D&Der/AD&Der that has been playing since 1978, and DMing since 1979. I have my own "home brew" campaign that I call The World of Oriden: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/world-of-oriden. The website still needs a lot of work, but there's enough there to give you a taste of what my milieu's all about. I don't do D&D 3.x, but adopted some of the d20 rules to my primarily 2E campaign while still keeping true to the original intent of the 2E rules. I'm looking hard at converting to Castles and Crusades and their SIEGE engine(TM) rules so younger players have a "familiar" feel to playing in Oriden. From what I've seen, the conversion shouldn't take a whole lot of work to do.

I started playing OD&D, white box booklets, in Nov. 1978 when I was in the Navy overseas with a DM running Empire of the Petal Throne. Soon after, me and my shipmates formed a play group using Judges Guild Realms of the Fantastic Reaches setting. Slowly over the years I've built my world and I'm in the process of posting my efforts to my website.

Well Met Indeed Sir!

You've gamed since the White Box?? Were Gygax and Arneson your godparents as well?

Fellow Innmates, we are in the presence of greatness!

At any rate, welcome to your new digital home, drednot57! While I roam the realms for some special flowers for you please accept a tall stein of spiced mead. Oh, and a fluffy face towel, too--it's importance will be apparent shortly.

Anything I can do to help get you settled in here, just shoot me a PM. Check out our resident webcomics and please vote for the Inn daily at the Home page.

White box. . .I, uh. . .wow!

Oh! almost forgot, I was so impressed--*Tail Wags!!*

Oooh! Well seasoned newbies! Yummmmm!

*creak,pop,kaa-jingle-sproinga-pounce*

Welcome aboard, drednot! I think, perhaps, you're the first Innmate I've heard who's even made mention of the old white box rules... there have been some really old school games, herabouts, of course (gone all the way back to "basic" in fact) but... white box... wow! I can't say that I've heard anyone mention that particular set since I've been gaming online.

Anyhoo... awestruck rambling aside... glad you found your way to our little corner of the world weird web and hope that you find something here that'll keep you coming back. Of course, if you have any questions, need some help navigating the place, or whatever, don't hesitate to throw out a post or shoot a PM; I think you'll find that all of us Innmates (staff and regulars alike) are more than happy to help out.

See you about, swabby! Anchors aweigh!

Some one new and i saw it.

Kyle enterend the inn and went to the bar, 'a tankard of ale if I could please, need to wash away the road dust.' the battle harden cleric emptied the tankard, 'there is none better this side of the realm.' As the tankard was filled and place back down before him he thanked the keep and noticed the new face.

'Master DredNot it is always a good day when we can welcome another to the Inn.' Kyle then motions to the darkness over his shoulder and gave a little whisper, 'You know, it is said that he used to have the red box...'

In a room only lit by the glow of a computer screen and the sound of keys tapping away, 'Yes Kyle, and that red box can still be found in my closet among the other books of magic and dictionaries of monsters and other bad things. Welcome to the Inn drednot57.' silence filled the room once more...

'Sometimes he has little to say, other times he just sits there,' Kyle then once more gives a quick glance over his shoulder, 'but he is always watching.' Kyle then motions for tankards, goblets, and glasses to be filled. With his own tankard filled he lifts it high, 'Good people of the Inn join me in welcoming one who has long walked the realm. Welcome DredNot may you find friendship, may your spells always be true, and your sword forever sharp. Long live the Inn.'

Not calling you old... just saying... you're... AWESOME!
