And the gargoyles are down. Sort of.

Ok, so we need a plan. I guess we go back to getting out of the room the same way we were about to try before - the door up the wall. But we need to be careful - somethings know we are here. And those gargoyles could come at us with no notice out of any wall at any time. Or any floor. I'm not a fan of those things.

What say the rest?

Thoughts

Well way I look at it I'll climb to the door check it for the norm, traps, locked, and then move forward followed by the rest of you.

Ody in his half/bear state should be easily able to lift/get me a good handhold up to the doorway to use my thief skills.

As Jarenion was the only one to completely kill one of these things, its clear he would need to be on watch while we scramble out of the room.

The same would go for Sparrow and Kadrin stand watch.

Order of exit to my mind.

1) Myself as Thief to open and check.
2) Sparrow as once up she can use her bow as cover fire.
3) Kadrin as shortest person
4) Ody
5) Jarenion as Ody still in half bear form can easily lift him up.

Then we get the "****" out of dodge.

Tann's Plan

the one door out is 20 feet up the south wall, in the middle.

So that would be a long reach down to pull up the wiz. Got to think about this. Would it seem to work better to lift the wiz and Ody go last. His reach is about to 10 foot over his head.

I think I need to have Ody toss his gear up, so when he changes back he has his other weapons and stuff. I have got to keep track of my stuff.

Got to check spells to see there something to there.

OR.....
The Wiz could cast enlarge on Ody, he could lift Max to check the door and open it. Then Ody lifts the other up to the door and then pulls himself in.

Thoughts???????????

spells

The earlier plan was to try and avoid using spells. But Jarenion can easily use spider climb on himself or someone else. I think he has levitate as well, but I'd have to check.

Change the Wall?

Another option:
Ody has the priest spell of Shape Stone. He could transform the stone wall into stairs or create a stone ladder out of the wall. this could be an easy way out.

Level: 3 Sphere: Elemental (Earth) [Alteration]
Range: Touch Components: V, S, M
Duration: Permanent Casting Time: 1 rd.
Area of Effect: 9 cu. ft. + 1 cu. ft./level Saving Throw: None

By means of this spell, the caster can form an existing piece of stone into any shape that suits his purposes. For example, he can make a stone weapon, a special trapdoor, or a crude idol. By the same token, it enables the spellcaster to shape a stone door, perhaps so as to escape imprisonment, providing the volume of stone involved is within the limits of the area of effect. While stone coffers can be thus formed, stone doors made, etc., the fineness of detail is not great.

Being that we have sort slowed a lot in this game I have forgotten just what Ody has and can do. Got to get back on my toes here.

Spells

I think making stone stairs might be a waste of a spell. Are we over thinking it? How worried are we about attack? I'd probably use the original plan, then have Jarenion spider climb out. he'd be available at the bottom to stand guard with his staff. Although he can't aid an attack on those up top from there. Stupid stone swimming gargoyles.

Well.........

As I see it, if Max stood on Ody's shoulders he'd still be about 7 foot short of the door. Ody is 6'9' in this form and Max is 7' tall. A Stair of stone or a stone ladder would allow Max to climb to the door and check for traps and the rest of us dash up and out of the room.

OK

I'm not against using the stone stairs. I'm just a little worried about running out of spells down the road. But we have to get down the road, or up the road, or whatever, first.

So, stair it.
Max can check for traps.
Jarenion can hold rear guard.

Just be sure to post that you are watching the walls, floor, ceiling because those things could come back. If they are afraid of the staff it might keep them away - or it might make them target Jarenion if he seems split off from the herd. At least they can't pull people away through the walls - I think.

well

you are definitely overthinking this

The terragoyles can not pull you through the wall but they can make you wish they could.

As we have been at this for awhile and everyone might need a refreshed, I will post a status of where you are on spells and mana. When I have some time.

Over thinking...

The DM is right, we are just reacting and over thinking.

I just realized no one search the room for hidden doors, controls or switches that might opened a passage or even created the stair to the door.

Got to get our GAME thinking going.

maps

Note, the map of this room included a lot of secret doors and traps I took out so do not let the map fool you into believing the floor is not solid. There are grooves in the floor where sliding walls once were.

Snaky hair?

Ok, I haven't thought about it much yet, but a woman with a pot on her head screams "medusa" to me. Is she still lethal if the snakes are gone? Can we stick something under the pot to see if it gets bitten? Could she control that?
