Topic: The Chakran Portal - an Adventure in Audalis
Subject: Victory Indeed

The spell was a blessing as Alyssia felt much the safer for it as she waded into the battle; faith was her arsenal in a most literal sense. She let her self have a little smile form on her face as she got in close enough to heal Thondrek's wounds, but her victory was taken from her at the last moment by a hand full of stubby khordaldrum fingers.

"To the victor, the spoils..." she whispered beneath her breath and began to prepare in her mind a different spell for the fiendish badger.

Even Draven did not find this such an easy prey as he had predicted, the man's blade bouncing off a piece of the thing's armor like hide. Once again, Thon was bleeding from a wound of the badger's creation and with a little bit of quick thinking, she spun the magic she had gathered into a prayer of healing instead of the missile of energy.

When Alyssia looked back toward's the scene, it was with a sense of surprise that she looked to each of her allies. A slight laugh escaped her lips, one of happiness in the fact they had slain the beast and had escaped with their lices. A most joyous moment to be sure of.

Only Malius had any wounds left on his body. She approached the Syl and requested his permission to heal him. It would have been a violation of his space to do otherwise. Some were known to be stubborn enough with them always saying they would heal enough on their own.

(OOC: Will heal Malius to full hp if I have his permission, otherwise will let the prideful syl suffer)

When Alyysia finished with Malius, she turned and strode to where Draven was at the edge of the little gathering. She eyed him and looked him up and down to make sure he had not suffered any in the battle and spotted it. The thind disturbed her a little, the tattoo. Alyssia could not say why, it just did.

"So," she said, looking up at his face with a smile creeping onto hers, "you like something a little exotic. Would've chosen something else for myself personally."

(OOC: Looked your former post up and down and you said nothing about replacing the glove. Apologies if I took an initiative in the wrong direction.)

Alyssia watched as the badger turned on Thondrek, bringing a series of cuts to his face, just missing his eye. She would not stand by and watch as it felled her companion. her goddess would stand by to aid her in this action. It was something she had done once, turning her skin into a virtual suit of armor and would so once again.

With a prayer to her goddess, she then rushed off to aid her ally.

(Casting stoneskin and then will move in to help thondrek.)

So the plan had been set; they would wait for the beast to come for them. As night set around them, Alyssia could not help but think about Draven and the events of the days prior. His dark brooding alarmed her, but where as many things had been so easy before, she knew not how to deal with this problem.

"Why, Lysora?" Alyssia spoke to the heavens, her eyes looking to where her matron's constellation was, "Why do you set this one before me when I can see his hurt so clearly? Yet, he does not seem to want any aid from any person. How am I to overcome these stalwart defenses of his?"

Alyssia did not have to set there with the tears of the pain she felt at being defeated at every turn before she heard to call to arms. The monster had shown itself. She lifted to her feat and ran to the source of the cry. Malius was knee-deep in the ground, having to appeared to have sunk in. It was a curious dilemna that the ranger was in but help was already on the way.

Thondrek ran towards the monstrous badger and raised his axe to stike. Alyssia could not know what was going through the warrior's mind but knew that he had more tricks up his sleeve. First she would worry about disabling the beast, then she would heal her newfound comrade. It was not hard to recall to mind the pattern that had formed the spell that she had cast against that begger with the aid of her goddess. Power surged through her body on the the threads that linked her to Lysora and the white lightning curled in the palms of her hands.

"So, foul beast, it is that you meet your end. I know not who your creator was but the justice of the heavens shall show no mercy this night."

Her words seemed more of a yell as they came out louder than she originally intended. Perhaps, it was fueled by more than just her.

It was not a very happy experience seeing Draven in that much pain. Alyssia was about to run to his aid when Loda hopped up instead. It would be the healing of nature that he received this day instead of that of the goddess this day. Did she feel a twinge of jealousy? Draven even nodded his head in thanks at Loda. This was first time that she had seen him do anything like that.

Best not to think on those matters, Lyss. They'll only bring about bad thoughts. With a smile upon her face, the sorceress went to sleep and hoped none of the others could tell what she was feeling.

More than a day passed as the companions trailed down the road of their passage on the way the Sylvari Forests, the first of their coming to a small village with an elder rushing out to greet them. Alyssia was still admiring the way the Syl blended with the nature to live with it in a sort of harmony as the elder posed his question and did not bother to respond right away.

Three of her companions responded before she even thought to comment on it, biding her time as to see what they would say. After Draven poured out his refusal to help, the elder once again asked but in a manner little short of begging this time.
"Bah, Draven they gots a pest problem. 'ow 'ard can one wee lil badger be? Tearin thru the trash no doubt eh? Look we be passin through anyways, why not possibly 'elp the poor git, and mebbe line our pockets with new provisions or some gold for the next leg of the journey? I say tell me of yer badger problem, and then we'll decide our course, I figure since we be 'ere anyways, it's not too out o the question to look into it if'n it won't take too long."

"I concur," Alyssia spoke up for the first time since coming to the village. "We should help this village even if it does not lead to us lining our pockets."

Alyssia took a few steps forward to come within an arm's distance of the elder, "If it wouldn't be too much pain, could I get a change of garments. Mine have gotten torn on our journey here. I cannot speak for my companions, but I will be glad to help you without any compensation expect for a bed to sleep in and some food to line my stomach."

She stood there with a smile on her face, trying to emanate a feeling of friendship.

A symphony, a glorious symphony, of power surged through Alyssia as her need, her need of her goddess's power, drove the lightning before her fingertips. It was something new that had never before been cast by her. But here, in what may have just been her greatest moment of need in the time she had served her goddess, the power rushed forth. It rushed past Loda with just a breadth of space left to strike the abomination that stood before her now.

Divine power flowed through the hellhound and turned it into a small pile of ash. This last act had drawn a certain measure of strength from Alyssia, her limbs now feeling heavier as it was an effort of will to remain standing on her limbs. Pain flowed back from where she had been able to block out her wounds. It was now time to worry about her own pains, time to heal the damage that had been caused to her body.

"Lysora," she prayed in a soft tone, "take care of your disciple's wounds. Heal me so that I may continure serving in your light."

(Cast cure critical wounds)

With her own pain taken care of, it was now time for Alyssia to worry about those that needed the attention of her healing spells. She felt that Draven was one who could use the power of her goddes's magic much so.

Pain, immense pain, swept through her body as the old man's sickle pierced the skin of her back and bit deep, striking the bone of what she presumed to be a rib. It mattered not that the foul man's blade struck hard, Alyssia's concentration was focused enough to not be broken, her devotion to Lysora true. A halo of light surrounded her body, and she slowly drifted into the air. There she remained fixed in the air as if she was an angel drifting on the air.

Alyssia could have sworn that she had spotted a smile flash across the man's lips as her body showed the draining of her life's energy. Loda and Gothard swept in to take her spot and the man's attention, with her now bein out of his reach. Loda's axe struck hard into the old man as Gothard missed him widely. Now her companions had joined in the battle.

The battle had not lasted much longer with the druid and friend attacking the old man and Malius's arrow striking him along with the force of her magic. Tears welled up in her eyes as the man fell to the ground in death, but it was not something that she could have helped. The fellow had made his own choice. Alyssia now had to turn her focus to herself. Her thoughts brought her back down to the ground as her flesh mended itself beneath her hand.

It had taken to be an eventful night. "Now, let us see to Draven if we shall," Alyssia spoke to her companions in a voice strained with grief. "Let us see that his fate does not become the same as this man's."

(alright, takin a round to drift back down to the ground. usin normal movement while cast cure Moderate wounds.)

Subject: Heavy of heart

It was with a heavy heart that she knew what she had to do, the next few instances preciously short. If it was just herself at danger, Alyssia would gladly stall in hopes of changing the man’s course of action, but the lives of others were in balance. She could not afford a single moment’s hesitation. This man had chosen his course of action, had chosen to reject Lysora’s mercy and instead invite her wrath. He had chosen his own damnation, his own ending.

Alyssia stood tall and proud while showing her goddess’s holy power, her halo of light surrounding her body. A silent prayer was lifted up toward the heavens as Alyssia began to rise in the air. Holy magic suffused her body, throughout every cell it called, sang, to her. Her arm stretched out and down towards the man that now stood below her as if condemning him.

“Everybody,” Alyssia’s voice called out to her companions that were now moving in for battle, “stand aside. He has invited this fate upon himself. Know that it is with a mourning heart that I condemn you, stranger.”

It was with this that she next called forth the magic that her goddess had imbued her with, calling it down to take the life of one she would have rather healed. A small tear welled up in her eye and began to slide down her cheek as she released the spell.

(OOC: First round, nimbus of light and levitation spell, moving 20 ft as movement action. Second round, if all stay back I will cast fireball seeing as how I met the stranger at the edge of the camp. I everybody moves in I will use magic missile. Either way, I will move another 10 ft upwards before casting the spell. Movement allowance with lev is 20’.)

One of my greatest goals in life is to write a fantasy novel. I know that we have many talented and creative minds here at the inn, so I would like to get views other than my own on this line of viewing. I have only begun to start on my own fantasy realm here, so you wont have any help on names of places and things such as that.

I am asking for help in creating up a cast of characters, both major and minor that I can possibly fit into various roles. Some major points that I would like to see in this is: Name; Age; Detailed physical description; personality; goals; desires. If you dont approve of this in general, well you may say that as well. I would like to thank those ahead of time that participate in this.

P.S. please include whether I have permission to use these characters or not.

He had seemed distracted all day, since they had left the Khordaldrum kingdom and him cursing at the sun. Draven had never really seemed to like the thing with it not befitting his dark and moody character. Alyssia was thinking of some new contraption to get through to the man that never seemed to let anyone in beneath the armor that he wore around his soul. It never seemed to amaze her at how he eluded her every maneuver in this constant game of strategy between them. With her sandaled feet padding along on the ground, she had kept her eye on him all day.

So focused was she on her own thoughts as she sat at the campfire that evening that she was surprised to hear a singing voice coming from down the road, not all too unpleasant either she would add. Her eyes caught sight of an outline of a figure who was dressed all in black. A curious obsession it was with men, wanting to always dress in the oppressing color. Something was draped around his shoulders, but she could not yet make out what it was. Alyssia just decided to leave it be for the moment. His walk however, spoke some measure about him, supporting himself with a staff and striding in a limp

“Hello there! Care for some company? I’ve been walking all day and hadn’t had anything to eat for hours. I’d appreciate some of that dry meat of yours.” the man spoke as he came closer.

Alyssia was about to speak before she heard the sound of a blade being released from its scabbard. Draven now stood with his blade that sucked in every ounce of light from the air in hand and his eyes glowing that otherworldly glow that they seemed to do. An interesting aspect, she would have to ask him about that. Pulling her thoughts back to hand, she met the look on Draven’s face with one of her own.

“Keep an eye on the coger,” were his words before he charged off into the darkness with his massive blade in hand.

She could only holler out as she was much slower in getting to her feet, “There is no need for that!”

Turning back to the man that was now at the edge of their campfire, she took a better look at him in order to get a judge of character. Something went off in her mind and told her that not all was in its proper place here. Alyssia wondered at what it might just be as she gazed up and down the old man that had seemedly come from nowhere. How could he have made it this far on an injury like what he had; maybe it was from an old wound that never healed properly. Although the nagging did not ease up in her mind, there was no proof that it came from this individual. Concern won out over the worry, although her caution was still tempered.

Alyssia closed her eyes and began to say a few brief words to herself in a prayer of protection from her goddess (mage armor). With the ending of her words, Alyssia approached the old man with open hands, her staff back where she had been sitting. It was a motion of friendship in the village where she heralded from, saying that one did not mean harm to the other.

“Welcome to our fire. You may have my share of the meal. And if you did not mind, I would like to take a look at you leg; there may just be something I could do for you,” the words flowed from her voice with sincerity etched deeply into them.

(OOC: Hopefully mage armor will be enough if something does go wrong.)

"Your reply to my question was a wise one, Malius Darkblade," Alyssia replied before the syl could walk away. She drew upon the power that dwelt within her sould, bringing forth a halo of light around her body. "Most would judge me as a poor common woman, but I am not. Know that not all can be judged by their appearance alone, and Draven has proven himself on more than one account.

"Lysora has set me upon my path with him as my companions. I believe that it is her will that his pains be healed, and I will find a way to do that however I must. If you make one aggressive move towards him, I will bring whatever wrath upon you that my goddess has granted me. Merciful as she may be, I will not let you harm my charge."

Alyssia's face was as cold as stone in that moment, her look stern with no etch of a smile on her normally joyful face.

(OOC: used nimbus of light. Also, tann, dont know if you'll want to edit your last post for a response.)

It was something new for her, this feast of food in a house that could have fit her whole village in it. All of the souls in the village that she grew up in could have lived off of the food that was present for atleast a good week in not longer, rationed properly and all. There had never been such good bounty for the peasants that she had come from. Alyssia saw this as waste but kept her opinions to herself on the matter, not wanting to be rude to their host. Besides, the others seemed to be enjoying themselves with no such discomfort.

Alyysia was really interested in why her goddess was leading her on this path. There were others in other places that needed tending to, or was all this for the one soul that she could see who felt so much pain within, the darkness that was eating at him. Not evil perhaps, but something warring within his soul that screamed to be released. She felt more than anything else, that was the reason her mistress kept her on this path rather than redirecting the arrow that had already been released from the bow.

The woman sat quietly and ate in meager proportions while the others conversed and their words passing by her ears. She seemed not to hear them as she watched their lips move. It was time for her to judge her new companion and maybe see what he was about, this syl. That is when it hit her, her attention coming back into focus.

"...is that why you call forth one of evil, dwarf," the syl's words hit her and hard.

Alyssia thought about speaking in her companions defense but knew that Draven would not appreciate her doing so and kept silent through the proceedings until its ending. She smiled brightly when Draven accused the syl of only judging what he did not understand in fear, but it quickly faded away when he then again challenged the syl to what could lead to one of their deaths.

The rest of the night was pretty much uneventful with the group only receiving some coin, which she left on the table, along with instructions for their journey. She had always refused coin and the crystal was of no use to her, able to provide her own light into dark places. So it was off to bed for her and her companions, a certain weariness tugging on her body and refusing to withdraw its clutches. This syl was not off the hook with her even though a certain line had been marked and a truce drawn. When morning came, she would be sure to have a word with this man new to their party.

(and so she is off to bed until morning, when she will stop tann's syl before he has really much of a chance to do anything really.)
