Topic: Freedom's Price - A Serenity RPG
Subject: an intro

Melanie, Lt Moore as she had once been known, spun the centerpiece of her Python 6 revolver before flipping it back in place and returned it to its shoulder rig. Next was the brass check of her Marakov, pulling the slide back just far enough to ensure a round was in place and returning in to the holster that hung on her hip and secured it. It only took a fraction of a second to unsnap the securing strap, but she would be cursing herself for a long time if they had to take off at a moment’s notice and the durned thing fell out. One could never be too careful when entering an establishment where one did not know all the people there, even if they shared a history. Gambler’s Gully was the name of the place, and the brown duster she wore would keep any unfriendly looks from coming her way. This place was full of Independents. Even though the war was over, long so, there were still those like herself that held to their beliefs.

It was 2100 at the Gambler’s Gully as the group sat at the table with their drinks. She stared into the small glass of clear alcohol and wondered how many it would take to put her under. Melanie wasn’t good at handling her liquor and decided that this one would be enough. Only one tonight, Mel, you need to keep your wits about you. She did not even feel bad that she had not paid for the drink, but it had been given to her for the fact that she was with the woman that had fixed the bar’s jukebox. Oh, she could recall a time when she had had more than enough credits to buy up this bar and everything in it with money left over, but it had all been her father’s money. Things had happened in the ‘verse, things that she could not just leave be, and she had left home against her father’s wishes. Regrets, however, had not come; Melanie knew that she would make the same choices again if she had to. Now, though, she did not even have a five credit note in her pocket, sad days indeed.

There was the five of them sitting at the table in this godforsaken place, this cesspool of a planet. Across from Melanie sat Kane, another former pilot from the war and an Independent officer as well; all of the pilots had been commissioned. He had a reputation as a durned good pilot, famous throughout the Independent Navy, with bigger a bigger ship and bigger loads. Melanie knew she could fly just as well if not better, but she had had the jobs of running the cargo planetside, more dangerous flying against the AA guns and enemy fighters, but somebody had to have the job of getting the supplies to the troops on the ground. Next was Brutal, hell of a nickname, but he had been a grunt in the Independent Army. He was not all that bright, but she would not choose another person if she got into a tights spot that needed some extra muscle. Grace sat next to Brutal; good with almost any kind of mechanical piece of tech she came across and another girl from a rich family that had not agreed with her parents dictates during the war. Last was Angela, a little cuckoo most of the time and a handful. She was how they all had met; her life had been the catalyst by which they had joined together. Melanie just did not like it when those with a more of whatever chose to force themselves on those deemed weaker.

Now, here they all were and waiting on somebody none of them had met, but she had trusted Samuel McCreedy that the information was right on. Nine P.M. and no Watson though, and the message had been nine o’clock sharp. Melanie would give the man some time however before getting everybody up and calling it a night. Time was something they had plenty of at the moment, but they needed cash, and for that, they needed work.

Then the questions came. After a few moments, she answered, “No, he’s probably not just late Grace. I was told nine o’clock sharp, and that’s supposed to be on the money. Supposedly this guy hates being late more than he hates Alliance. And no Angela, you’re not the only one who doesn’t know him, none of us do. I don’t know much about his need of a crew, I didn’t get any specifics in the matter. I did though, get told that the pay would be good.”

Melanie just wondered what could be keeping the man. Hopefully nothing that would cost the group half a thousand credits apiece.

Alright, seeing as how we are yet to have a Q&A/OOC thread, I will do this here.

Clothing: worn denim jeans, a few pairs; short-sleeved shirts, one a dingy kind of white and another a faded blue; brown duster (of course); pair of mid-thigh high boots of good leather and a belt.

She will also have her violin. But I was mainly wondering about what other gear will we have?

Alright, I am pretty sure of this first answer, but may I join you in your ventures?

Two, since the only source book I have is my electronic version of Pathfinder, may I use that to go ahead and create a pali? I know that it will be a little different but was just a question.

Went to the war with a violin that had been passed down through family.

1) Would the Alliance have let her keep it? If the follow the same laws of war that we do, they would have had to.

2) If they let her keep it, could she have kept it from gettin nabbed while in prison and still have it now?

Trust me, there will be a decent rp reason behind this.

Nope, I was sayin that the link was outdated, not the rules. Sorry for the confusion. The link just wasn't good anymore.

Also, if we could get a time frame for the app. time of this, then that would be nice. Like, how long after the war?

It most certainly is. Ummm, was looking through my old emails and got one from a certain Mr Kallin that had the Firefly RPG rules in it but was from feb of two yrs ago and is no longer any good, so if someone could send a new attachment of some sorts, that would be handy.

How many points for skills and how many of our 'attribute' points does taking an advantage/disadvantage give us?

Since Tann has already called dibs on what my char idea was, the gunslinger with a pair of .45's who was a pilot/captain of a ship during the war, then I will go with a tech. Sorry, don't have the rules and the pdf file I had them on is lost somewhere halfway across the world.

Ok, he will be an NCO during the war, a pog sgt who was great with tech and wasn't too bad with a pistol and did some kickboxing. He always said that he knew what the blasted machines were thinkin. Will try and come with somethin a bit more definite but that is what I have for now.

I would be interested if you still have a slot. I could the same background for a char I developed for another firefly game that didn't get off the ground.

Alright, if nobody has noticed, Wizards has decided to yank all of their online sourcebooks from different sites. Needless to say, I am out some books due to this and would be wondering who all has pdf/text version of dnd books, no matter what version. If anyone who does could be as kind to email me what they have, I would appreciate it. This would help me build a compilation that could be used to help individuals further down the road.

I will update this as to what I receive as I do.

Thanks.

I am 22 if you must know. Staying low isn't necessarily in my job description. I am a grunt, an infantryman. Eol knows what that one is like. We pretty much do most of the more dangerous work, leave the wire the most. Having spent the last few days recuperating, I am doing quite well. My bruise is gone and the abrasion I received (similiar to a bad rug burn), is over half way healed up.

Thanks for the support, even though I know I haven't been the most active person in the last several months.

Things have been pretty much quiet over here. There haven't been any casualties from my batallion, but there have been a couple of incidents.

ONE: One of our trucks was hit be an IED, inflicting minor damage on the vehicle but inflicting no injuries.

TWO: I was hit by a sniper round. It only inflicted minor injuries, a little bruising and an abrasion that removed several layers of skin, due to it being stopped by my sapi plate. Never again will I complain about the weight of my PPE and won't ever stand for anyone else doing it either.

I finally get to my AO and have a steady internet access and what do I get, a game where I can have some interest but close out. . Let me know if a slot opens up and I might just follow along. A jedi, guardian mainly with a prestige class of knight. Also, there is a kotor era sourcebook out there if that would be handy

Those two explanations would pretty much be it in a nutshell. Oh, and merideth, the club is not open about the kind of people visit the night club. The mundanes think it is a member's only night club and that it is very exclusive. The owner is not worried about the gathering of gifted cause he think they have strength in numbers like this if 'anything' should decide to attack. There are probably a couple hundred gifted of various strengths here.

Subject: So many questions!

1) Perceiving nature of evil -- Insight will give you some perception as I interpret it. You will be able to sense someone's strength of essence, but magic is neither good nor evil but depends on INTENT.

2) Knowledge of Cultists -- Alex has some knowledge but not much really, he has been hunting them.

3) Ramifications -- You dont really know. This place is supposed to be a safe place for gifted, so take a guess. Emilia attacked instead of waiting to be drugged or whatnot and drug off.

4) Time -- 10:37pm

5) Fencing foil/rapier -- No thobs here. Peeps might give you a weird look, but people here are assumed to be able to defend themselves.

6) Rules for posting/rolling -- I'll do the rolls myself, but you need to post a general intent. Alot of it will depend on roleplaying. I am still learning system myself and will find it easier this way.

Phew, hope that covers it all

Topic: Wilting Rose Q/A
Subject: A's to your Q's

Eol, Alex notices 9 Azezalites, which I am sure he would've pointed them out to smoke and Rosetta.

2) As far as I am concerned, only the three know each other at the moment, along with the two twins knowing each other of course.

3) Everybody knows of the one exit, but there could be more. You know like service entrances due to deliveries and kitchens and the like, but do you take the chance.

4) And in relation to Emilia, hmmmm. She is probably about fifty feet into the main floor, the door from the small lobby entrance being to her north and behind her. Right now, give me approximate locations to her. I'll let ya'all decide, cause Alex probably noticed her tailing the cultist and may have decided to close in on her, I never know.

Also, i tried to look for some blueprints on nightclubs to get an idea of dimensions but couldn't find any, so if anybody could help me out, that would be nice.
