Whoa, power goes out here at home and I'm shot, could you atleast tell me where I was hit. That'll determine my reaction in a way.

They stood so close together as she peered up into his eyes, he was so much taller than she. Alyssia could see something there that was breaking and wishing to be let out and that just did not wish to be contained any longer. But here was a man that fought it, fought the two parts of himself; one part wallowing in the darkness in self-pity and the other that struggles to be free from the darkness's stain.

She waited for him to finish, waited for the pause to be greater than a momentary hesitation.

"You call me a priestess, but I am not such. You call me favored but I am not that either. I am a servant, trading my life for that of others, having begun this life in a bargain to save one that I had held dear in a time that seems so long ago. I do not regret this decision, but it requires me to have faith that one day I will have again all that I have given up. Perhaps it will be in another life.

"Faith is what gudes me. I do not know all, am not told all. The gods know your story, Dera’Vaine Iru Dantes. I know not this dark speech that you speak of. It is not the gods that have an interest in saving you, but just one to my knowledge. She has led me here, into your path. We both have come from lives that cannot be reclaimed.

"Perhaps, though, we can form new lives that mean something. I have found some meaning in the life that I now lead, and it is time that you do the same. What has been written cannot be erased, but the story is not yet over. There are still pages to be written in the life of Draven IreDante. Each new page is blank, each new day brings boundless possibilities. Perhaps tomorrow is to be the final chapter, we may never know. But we must have faith that the gods will guide us through the darkness.

"Just as a parent guides their child, they cannot tell them everything. Every child must make their own mistakes, and it is never to late to correct the imbalance that our mistakes have made and make amends. I am not afraid of whatever darkness your soul may hide. But it yours to tell me, not Lysora's. She will keep your secret from me, for it is not hers to let loose."

Alyssia just kept her hands down by her side. Her chest rose up and down from the longwinded speech, her usually being a person of such few words. Alyssia's hands remained clenched at her side, not knowing what to do with them and fearing to risk a second refusal from the man that now stood before her.

So, Draven recognized the word, and it was more than just a simple word of unknown origing but instead a name. Did this have something to do with his painful past, could it help her heal the man's soul?

"The source of my guidance should be known to you be now. I am more concerned, however, at what this name has to do with you. Has it not been long enough for you to start trusting somebody? Why not start with me?"

She put a soothing touch in her words and reached up to storke the the warrior's face as she finished he question.

She watched as Draven turned from her and stalked toward the eaves of the forest with flask in hand. A slight chuckle was all she let out at the thought of the trouble he was going to be. The sorceress followed in the warriors footsteps and closed the distance.

"So," Alyssia spoke to him softly, "I would like to know if you recognized the word Avesaath."

The woman watched for any hints from his face that could possible give anything away. Perhaps this was part of his dark past that he so refused to devulge.

(OOC: Making sense motives checks as needed.)

Yes, please do npc her and keep her from dying if you can. I'll be gone for just over three months without access to a computer (pouts just momentarily). But I have worked for this for a few years, disqualified for this and that, fighting through the beuarucratic (??spelled right??) tape and everything.

It was hard, the waiting. This one person that she had invested herself in lay waiting in what was perhaps now a tomb of stone. For him this could be a last battle, a final show of defiance before passing into the next realm with the gods. Alyssia stood behind everyone as Malius took out his rope and climbing gear. A single tear began to slide down the side of her face. Tears always came for those she could not save, the children, the elderly, and even the warriors. Or perhaps this tear was for another reason intirely.

The Syl ranger had gotten far enough up the wall to use his grappling hook when a faint click came from the front door. She caught herself holding her breath, waiting and hopin, wondering if she had mistaken of what she had heard. The tower's doors opened so slowly or it may have just seemed to her. Draven, covered in blood, stood there in the entrance with his weapon hanging limply from his hand. He didn't even acknowledge that they were there as he strode over to his gear.

Alyssia coud only ponder over what had happened in the tower but knew without a doubt that the other bear was dead; but at what price? She was trying to heal this man's soul not rend it even more that it already was. He looked so distant as he cleaned the gore from his body. The Dark Warrior just shoved Geim away as he tried to aid him, words passing beyond her hearing, her attention not on their sound.

The khords crouded Draven as he cleaned himself up, probably wanting tales of his battle inside the tower as prone to violence as khords were. She just watched him as he drank from his waterskin before turning to his black-bladed sword.

Alyssia watched as everyone asked Draven over the tower and Geim leave for the tower. It was not perpaps the most sane thought that she had, heading in after him into the tower, not knowing if there was any latent magic that could possibly harm them for being intruders. Chance and luck only kept one alive for son long.

The sound of wood and dragging leaves came to her ears from oustside of the door. The crackle of flames and the smell of smoke reached her first and then it was the scent of burnt fur and then cooking meat. She steeled herself against it all while her stomach threatened to empty its contents.

There was something that was drawing her to this other bear that lay in this lower room of the tower. Alyssia could not say what drove her to touch the disgusting thing. A moment passed in which a voice passed through head, whispering a word in her head, a woman's voice that sounded familiar and was astonished or maybe just a bit full of fear.

An arm came to rest on the bear beside hers and then another. It was just all a bit much for her to pay attention to whose they were. With all of them pulling, they managed to get the beast out and onto the fire with the first. Thoughts just swarmed through her mind.

"We need to kill all these maggots up here and check this place out for any more that might have gottten away from here. We don't need giant blood sucking insects to hatch from these things. Some one have some oil and fire we can burn this nest," the words came from Geim as he went back into the tower.

Draven though was not as patient, "I don't think we should waste any more of our precious time. Are we going to help every commoner, kill every goblin, and go after every wanted fugitive we find on our way?"

He looks at the shield maiden who had been outside the tower on their arrival.

"Leave them for her. Surely she doesn't need our help cleaning out the tower as well as slaying the beasts?"

This was perhaps where she should finally speak up, "Draven, maybe you could allow them to clear out the tower before we press on. I would wish to speak with you and could also use some rest."

(OOC:So here it is. Next posting opp will be no sooner than Monday it not even until Tuesday. Am going to be in KC)

New work schedule has me working days for the most part and then workin with my recruiter doing PT and everything, I have just been busy. I have got word that I am now good to go for Basic Training, I will be leaving you all come the beginning of February. Asides, Alyssia can also bother Draven when it gets dark and they have to camp. Nobody will be able to bother them that way. She tries not to be impulsive and would rather think things through before confronting someone.

Alyssia glanced towards the tower, her thought going to Draven who was now alone in the tower. She may not be able to help him, but perhaps he would be able to remain in the tower without the bear detecting him. She could only hope.

"Alrighty," she comely said to herself, "Let us get everyone back up on their feet. Lysora, guide my hand as you always have." Her prayers went to her goddess for her companions. She hoped to save the many instead of the one, even if it hurt her to do so.

(OOC: Sorry, have been busy alot lately. I count that I have four each of first and second level spells left, correct me if I am wrong. I will whoever I come to first, healing them completely as I can. Hopefully Draven can last long enough for us to rest and then come in after him.)

Subject: Friendly Fire, ironic?

Gabriel was glad to have everyone back together, the whole strength in numbers saying runnin' through his mind. They had just started the search of the facility and had already seen so much blood just scattered all over the place. Who or whatever hit the place had done a helluva job of it. Possibilities were running through his mind over who would have the tech to create the freckin' snowmen yetis in the first place. He didn't even feel that his own country had this kind of tech.

Hart just ran his fingers through his hair in a slight frustration, digging in nice and cozy for his watch. After being on point and then taking up rear guard, two of the least desirable positions in a hostile environment, he was glad to pull first watch. Atleast his sleep would go without being interrupted.

Not paying attention to who took his place after his two hours were up, Gabriel quickly ate his rations before 'hitting the sack'.

Current

Hart got as low as possible behind the crates or whatever he could find as cover as the automatic fire came in at him. Never figured I'd be the target of friendly fire. A nervous laugh escaped from his lips.

"Somebody wanna tell these guys that we're on the same side here!"

Question about the A.P.E. explosives. What is their app. strength and can they be used without the primer? I.E. I find a way to provide the concussive force or what acts as the catalyst.

What kind of explosives are these? Bigger or smaller blast than your general C-4 plastic explosives? Also, do you need a primer to detonate it or would and impomptu charge work? Like, would it go off if you shot it with a rifle or pistol, since that would provide a concussive force.

“Cpl Hart join me outside please, that’s an order.”

Looks as though it's time for another dressin down. Didn't take me long, may just even be a record. If I always cared about proper decorum and everythin', then I could be leadin' my own team at the point. A slight chuckle ran through the corporal's mind with the end of his thoughts.

"Sorry bout this, ma'am, figures the sergeant needs to be seein me. Thought I woulda had a chance to be spendin' a couple o' minutes in your lovely company and all," Hart told the chief as he rose up from his position.

It took all his discipline, which was a surprising amoung when he put his mind to it, to keep from even cracking a slight smirk at the bug he had put up Kane's rear. The dressing down was just as he had expected, exempting a couple of points. Now, he shoulda knew to ask for dismissal from the lieutenant, it just had not crossed his mind. That always seemed to get him in trouble.

"Heard, understood, and acknowledged, Sgt," Hart spoke with a slight hint of sarcasm in his voice. He even gave the chief a smile and slight nod of his head as he grabbed his gear to head for the hangar.

Current.

Boy, this is colder than any of the temps we had back home. Hart could remember any of those fond times when at night in slight subzero temps that they had run out of firewood and had to go cut some more. This was so much worse for the man that preferred warmer temps, which was why he had so readily gone to the land of sand and sun.

Gabriel toop point on the sergeant's urging. Boy, first impressions really stick with this man. He must not like me or somethin' It wasn't that he cared, but he just didn't want to run right smack into of them yeti things. Checking his rifle to make sure was on semi-auto, he kept it on safety despite the order to do so otherwise. He was confident that he could take it off if neede and did not want to be responsible for any "friendly fire".

Hart knew that the cold was bothering him as he make his way across the arctic plain to the facility but just shrugged it off for the time. His eyes raised up as he spotted the door laying in front of the entrance to the facility but just trudged on through. That is when he spotted the claw to another of them yetis.

Gabriel held up is hand and hollered out, "Got a yeti over here, Sarge."

Olan, I could use the equipment list, pm or post it here. Also, I'm sure that Blake would've came across Hart's list of disciplinary issues, having been busted from sgt back to corporal, yadayadayada. He has problems with insubordination but is a good soldier when the fire is on.

Gabriel went stood at ease while the looey went on about how he didn't take kindly to the fact that they were a not so welcomed surprise. Well, it was not his fault at all that they had been thrown in with the man.

"Fifteen, fourteen,..." the looey counted down.

"Speaking fankly, sir, I'm supposed ta bein on leave at the moment. So I'm not takin to kindly that I'm bein here intead o' back home. I'm of the opinion that it'd be much more comfortable there as well. So, if that's all, I think that I'll be seein ta my gear and such."

He had spotted the chief winkin back at him, and it was good to see that his attentions hadn't gone unnoticed. The smile didn't hurt neither to edge him along her way. He noticed as Blake took the laptop in one hand and punched along the keyboard with the other. Well, she was quite coordinated indeed. Gabriel smiled slightly as he sat down beside the woman and tried to get a peek at her work.

“Gimme a moment, sir, I’ll get the 411 in two shakes of a lamb’s tail if this place has wireless.”

"So," Gabriel spouted, "tryin ta get the lowdown on me, eh? Ya could just tryin askin about me instead of swingin away at those keys."

Subject: From sunny deserts to snowy tundra.

So, here he was, a new day and a new mission. It was no better here than the middle eastern deserts where he had just come from. From one desert to the next, it was just colder here and every drop of water was frozen instead of evaporated. A soft chuckle to himself raised his spirits and allowed to momentarily forget about his promised leave. He would just have to take it after he got out of this hellhole.

Gabriel just hated sitting around doing nothing and it was already past noon. The rest of the team was supposed to have already been here. He was excited to meet them but and have someone else for company aside from the giant of the man that had kept him company for the last fourteen hours. He looked short, being just a scant five foot four. A grin crossed the corporal's face as the three cards were flipped and he spotted what he needed at the top. He enjoyed the game of solitaire and found it strangely relaxing.

His eyes wonder up as he hears the approaching of boots on the cement floor that makes up the base, their sound is quite distinct from the tap of dress shoes and could be heard almost anywhere in the place. There they are, the lieutenant, a warrant officer, and the enlisted members of his team. Habit from eight years in the army brings him up to the position of attention.

The warrant officer catches Gabriel's eye and he cannot help but to eye her over quickly out of the corner of his eye. This may not be such a bad mission after all.

She had worried about Draven when he had entered, but the man had never responded to her comment about him never having to do things alone. Perhaps he had just done it for too long. She registered it as her three companions entered the tower but just stood back with her fingernails digging into her palms. This is where she would do the most good. It would be better to protect all but one of her companions rather than just the one. Maybe he would get his heroic martyrdom, maybe not.

Alyssia heard the roar as first the two khords and then the oversized bear rushed through the doorway. Her two companions went their seperate ways as the bear charged straight into the sunlight. Geim's axe bounced off of the creature's hide while Malius's arrow pierced into the creature's shoulder, for as little good as it seemed to do. The bladesinger, the party's newest member, slashed across the bear's face with her rapier. That only seemed to make it angrier and focus its attention on the Syl Lady.

"Lysora, give me strength," Alyssia muttered beneath her breath as she recalled the form of a spell that would allow her to hang in the air. This would make it to where none of her companions were in her way for what was coming next.

(OOC: Am going to take free action to activate nimbus of light, just looks cool. heehee. Then levitate of twenty feet and cast lightning bolt on round 2.)
