yea

I looked up "when to burn wizard's twilight" in the Guide for the Practical Mage. It had an exact description of the scene Al just gave us!

How convenient.

wah wah wah

You want to paint me as evil? I'll show you evil! I'll get so evil on your a$$ than you'll think demons are cute and fluffy by comparison. So evil you'll think I'm using 4th edition rules.

Mantis warriors now breathe acid. So do all monsters unless they did before and then they breathe fire and cold as well.

And I'm not going to kill Arien. I am gonna almost kill him, then put the demonic six fingered RIGHT on him and turn him into a reoccurring villian with a tacky wardrobe.

grrr.

Well, alllllllrighty then!

It's been a while since reading a post forced me to spew a mouthful of coffee through my sinuses but that one did it!

If Jal is lucky enough to only "almost die," I'll stake my claim for the next run, now, as well.

Orange collar, green boots and monkey fur shirts

There will be a third part. It will wrap up some of the loose ends and finally explain why there are so many demonic possession thingies happening.

I hope to wrap this one soon. So post them if you got them.

rawr

I lied. We had a garage sale this weekend to get rid of excess stuff after the move. Actually we made about 300 bucks and donated close to $300 worth of stuff, and donated $500 worth of books (especially old school textbooks) to the library.

So, lots of hauling and selling. Had a bigger weekend than I expected.

Hmmmm...

...ya didn't happen to have a mana-siphon of any sort in that sale stuff, did ya Dr Bob?

If so, I know a very foolish, poorly trained mage who might just have a use for such a thing and would probably be willing to offer up all the gold he's got for it's use.

ha

I wish. Although I'm glad that the robe of useful items is finally coming back into play

So far all it's produced is a few lanterns used to burn some tree things

Wizard's twilight

Okay. Let me clarify this mana burning thing.

If you run out of mana, you can still cast spells (assuming you are a mage) but using up your lifeforce(HP). This is dangerous as the HP used up will only come back with rest. One day per point loss rest. Healing magic will not bring it back.

If you use up all your HP, then you risk Wizard's Twilight. Especially if you use lifeforce and get injured in combat. For example if Fred the Fast Fingered has 10 hp left and no mana - still casts a 4th level spell. Then he is injured for 6 points - he is risking Wizard Twilight.
You recovery from Wizard's Twilight is based on constitution (System Shock) and just how low you go. Also, the more you go into WT, then more of a penalty you develop to recover again.
