Worked well...

...in this instance, esp. because we had planned out how the fight was going to start. Thanks to luck of the dice the start of the fight was also the end of the fight, so having the entire engagement in one post made the whole thing very concise.

Unless that same situation comes up again, where we plan out how we're going to start the fight and then nearly everything is dead after the surprise round, I'd like the chance to post after, say, at least every other round. Stuff comes up, plans change, things like that.

Anyway, well done everyone... first combat and no injuries. Ixion would never say it, but good plan Tellanth.

Excellent

I am glad you guys approve. I jumped the gun a bit, but my main fear, as always, is the game stalling and then the game dying. So I took the initiative and went ahead with the plan as I saw it laid out.

I can handle pausing every other round for reworking plans, as things tend to change alot in that short of a timeframe. I will make exceptions when I know the battle is obviously one-sided, as it was here.

They didn't even get to attack. this is because when I rolled for surprise, the kobolds rolled a 1. I ruled that this meant they were completely unready to fight and weren't planning on fighting you anyway. They only outnumbered you 2 - 1 ... not enough for kobolds to attack. So they fled, and their escape was blocked by Chow Yun-fat and Michelle Yeoh.

I hope all your combats are so glorious...xD

Tactical Clarification

The trash-heap holes, do they go all the way through the piles like a tunnel, or are they only part way through like a cave?

How far away from the debris mounds is the rock outcropping we're currently behind?

What's the distance and relationship between the piles of detritus and the marble ruins? i.e. ruins directly behind the 'ant hills' from where we are and only 30' between them, or more like 100' and the ruins are off to the left, or whatever.

I'm trying to figure out angles of approach for us and possible hiding places for them.

Strange...

I thought I subscribed to this thread... hmmm...

-subscribes again-

The distance is more like 100'. Close enough for them to be within visual range of one another.

Return

Need to know how far away I'm from the mounds. Does the Gnome make a lot of noise while following?.

If she runs into any kobolds along the way she will kill them quickly and hopefully before they see her.

Bwahahah!

Combat posted. Some of the tactical plans may be different from what you imagine, but this is how it goes down as far as I can see it. Again, smashing success... however some folks sustained minor injuries.

All Apologies

Sorry Evo, you caught Ixion on a bad day. He really is glad that you're here.

((Ixion issues a low growl))

Heh... I think you'll just have to take my word on that.

No prob

No biggie. That is why I have a decent Diplomacy stat.

I do have a question though. Bardic Music plus melodic casting = Cast any spell through spoken word (or banging instruments.. whatever..) and use my perform to cast them instead of concentration.

The specific sections I wish to ask about are

"Once per day per bard level, a bard can use his song or poetics to produce magical effects on those around him (usually including himself, if desired)"

"Use Perform in place of Concentration, cast spells while using bardic music "

Combining the two means that I can cast any spell (or spells) on multiple individuals that can hear me and since my perform is storytelling then All I have to do is talk (correct?).

If so, do I target just one person with my spell if all of my allies can hear it or does it effect everyone equally?

Such as if I cast cure light with my words and multiple people are there and they are all allies (important) then will it affect them all?

I smell munchkin

Rules Lawyer to the rescue... sort of.

Eh, no. Being able to cast spells through the use bardic music is so that you can use both without the casting of the spell interrupting the use of your bardic music.... nothing ruins a good song more than having to drone on in Latin. Being able to cast the spell through song, or in your case a rallying lecture, doesn't change the way the spell being cast functions. If it targets one creature, it still only target one creature. At best you might get a DM specific ruling about increasing range from :Touch to :Close, but there's no way it's turning into a Mass Cure spell.
