Alright then

Do we know which way to go now? I don't think there is any indication, is there?

I thought so but perhap I wasn't clear

South, towards the mountains in the distance that you recognize from your briefing. Even if you are to scrub the mission, south is the closest neutral border.

FYI week of 9/12

I'll be on vacation the week of 9/12 but I'm planning on taking my laptop with me. I'll try to keep up! Disregard any drunken beach references next week. This fuzzy old bear is planning on getting some sand in his fur.

I slid in a little personal description of Corp. Reid because I haven't found a good picture. I'll keep looking.

Ok Roger, I just emailed a couple of pictures in a word document. It's Shane West and the one from League of E.G. is the younger looking.

Just saying..

I would just like to note that with the mass production of weapons during WWII the finding of production defects is far from inconcievable. Couple this with the possiblity of damage from a bullet, not to mention the fall, and while we all as players may know that Corban is lying that doesn't change that his excuse is plausible.

And with the only tracker in the group being McGuinness himself, I doubt the "lost" rifle would be found any time soon.

P.S. And if it is argued that Corban didn't have time to move off let alone field strip the weapon then it can also be argued that I didn't see any mention of Romo field stripping the carbines in order to check their internal firing mechanisms. How would he have time for that if McGuinness doesn't even have time during all the gear checking, smoking, and order issuing to go into the woods nearby and take apart a rifle. (A weapon I might add that he is a master with, as it is his weapon of choice since childhood. If anyone in the unit can take apart a rifle quickly it would have to be him.)

Dm call - Why are we wasting time on this?

This is a non-issue and frankly I don't see the point. As I said before, I don't care about realism - this is a game.

So....

The sarge did not field strip the weapons. "he did a fast inventory in his head and started handing out the gear".

Dreen - destroying a piece of equipment behind enemy lines when you are limited is stupidity. Don't do that again.

Can we move on now?

it's settled

The captain won't have this kind of crap on a mission this important!

Although it makes for good RP, I think we should be careful with this ranking issue. We don't want people to get sour because they feel neglected, or because they trip over details. I suggest we all keep breathing, and remember that this is a game, and supposed to be fun.

Also, while we're at it, I wouldn't mind suggestions from the other members in the group if you think the Captain is unwise in his decisions. I talked to Odyson about this, and in my point of view the Captain is the one ordering everybody around, but that would make for a very single-minded campaign.
So please, don't feel like you can't make any suggestions to the course of action just because you're not higher in rank.

YeOlde did this by moving his man to a desired position, but you can also do it by speaking your mind.

Captain..

Hey I dont want you to think that Brutal's actions and thoughts are in any way disparging to your RPing of the Captain.. he is just being who he is.. he has a problem with authority.. that is all.. hope you dont take it personally.

not at all

Absolutely not.

What I meant was that I hope people won't keep their ideas to themselves simply because some characters have titles and others have not. So, if you prefer to go right, where somebody in higher rank says left, don't keep quiet.

good idea

Almerin has an excellent point, in that as players we are not always going to think as our characters would, so if you have suggestions or thoughts, use the Q&A or PM. Just make sure to include me in the loop.

Lol...

Isn't keeping the GM in the loop a violation of Player Rule #1, Don't give the Gm IDEAS!!!?

We're just starting to feel our characters out so there will be some explaining at times. As for the Captain, as I see it he's in the Command position and Romo is the main Tactical leader. As small group ideas would naturally bubble out and as military unit the NCO is usually the most combat experienced. The Capt. sets objectives (the what "We need to blow that fuel dump!") and Sarge makes or approves most actions (the how, "Sniper, take out the sentries, you two get in there and open the value on the that truck, the cover cover them."). We each do what we do to complete the objective. Of course encounters do tend to mess with a good plan!

BTW, it's 90 degrees here at Myrtle Beach, great ocean breeze and Margaritas at dinner were swell!

I should have a post up tomorrow night.

If I knew how to post pictures I'd share the ocean view from our balcony.

O.K. I just caught up with the posts and it all seems to be going just fine, so "NEVER MIND". My turn to gum things up.

Sat up and while listening to the soothing sounds of late night surf gently pounding on the beach I was able to complete my post.

I hope it isn't confusing that my character refers to himself as "Jack" even though his given name is John. I don't know if anyone caught it but I picked the last name Reid because it was the name of the Lone Ranger.

Rub it in, will ya!

Alright guys, I don't know if this ruse with the sarge is going to be anywhere near convincing, but I sure hope so.

Meanwhile back at the beach

Ah, monday evening was glorious, dined on Italian cuisine.

Had a lovely Angel hair paste, prepared with garlic olive oil and burn butter sauce, crumbled feta cheese, succulent jumbo shrimp.

Accompanied with a nice 2008 Chianti.
