Nope. You assumed right. He did want to cast the spell and heal Dapple. If that was his only 4th level spell, it means Adrian will have to do without the Neutralize Poison. Let's make it a Slow Poison instead. Unless of course there was a potion for that lost somewhere in Kilgim's inventory...

Yup. My bad. Read Alacrity's post wrong. So Kilgim is one spell short and I'm not 100% if he can still cast the Neutralize Poison on Adrian. You guys should've hired a proper healer.

Oh yeah... it wasn't you who chose Kilgim.

Kilgim couldn't help, but to smile at Dapple's angry exclamation. He hadn't expected anything less of the lass. Even if it was hidden most of the time, the little thief had a soul more fiery inside of her than anyone else Kilgim knew. And he knew a lot of people. Yet, there was no way he would be doing what Dapple wanted and leave her be. The girl needed to be back in shape, and in no time.

So as Dapple tried to get up, Kilgim firmly and not so gently, held her down and made sure every last bit of curing elixir made its way down her throat. "Don't give me lip 'laddie", he said quietly and only removed his powerful hand from Dapple's shoulder when the vial was empty.

Dapple got up so swiftly, that it made the dwarf shake his bald head. The rogue had always had an incredible way of shaking away any pain of stiffness in her muscles that might hinder her actions. "Ye deserve me prayers better than ye care t' think, me friend.", Kilgim whispered as he watched Dapple join the fray.

If the creatures they were facing hadn't been so deadly, the cleric might have considered the view somewhat funny with Char sitting on a gigantic spider's back while hanging on to the creatures hair trying not to fall. It almost looked like that ranger was trying to tame himself a new eight-legged mount.

The dwarf's green eyes took in the battle scene and allowed himself to relax for a heartbeat. One spider was nearly cut into pieces and was smoldering where Flynn's magical arrow had struck it. Another lay equally dead on the floor looking like a pincushion with Dapple's daggers sticking out of its back.

The spider Char was riding was the only one still alive of their current enemies and no of the team seemed to be too badly hurt. Or so Kilgim thought until Maximus's yell caught his ears. "Kilgim, Adrian's down!!" How he'd missed the mage, the priest couldn't tell, but his flash of relaxation was gone as fast as it had come.

It was quite obvious the spider had bitten Adrian. His face was even paler than usual and there was froth in his mouth. There was no time to waste. Kilgim knelt beside the mage, once again oblivious to his surroundings. The invisible magical globe was still around the priest keeping both him and Adrian somewhat safe from anything that might get past their friends. The dwarf blinked at the thought. If something would be powerful enough to get past Arien, Char, Maximus, Dapple and Flynn, his spell would probably offer the two of them little protection.

Unlike with Dapple, this time a healing potion would not be enough. It would close any wounds on the mage's body and return his health, but it did not have power to destroy the complex poison running inside Adrian's veins. There were specific potions for that, but Kilgim didn't have any with him. Fortunately for the unconscious human, Clangeddin seemed to favor the dwarf these days. There was a prayer that might be strong enough to help Adrian.

OOC: Obviously casting Neutralize Poison next.

Gaaaaah!!!

Sorry my friends, but my post will be delayed a few days due to the unexpected death of my laptop's display. But I'll try to steal a few moments from work for posting, which might prove to be difficult since I've been given some extra management responsibilities for a couple of months (without extra pay ofc).

Well... I've no idea why those movies would be picked on an ultimate geek movie list, but of those, I've seen 17. Or those I know I've seen. I'm fairly sure haven't seen Pi, Office Space or Pirates of the Silicon Valley. And looking at IMDB it's fairly unlikely that I ever will.

17/20, I guess I'm officially (by boardgamegeek standards at least) an official Geek. So, what else is new?

Bah, I admit being a geek. After all aren't all roleplayers at least to some degree. What this really only proves, me thinks, is that I'm old.

Topic: Assassin Campaign (redux) Q&A
Subject: Hi

To be honest, I'm a bit at loss in here. I remember reading that we were supposed to mention a section of the city where the character was from in the background. Now it seems to me that we don't know the city that well. That we'd need to find a way to get in would imply that we do not live in Greyhawk. I'd imagine permanent residents would have no problems getting in?

Also since we don't have a leader and only have been told to kill off the council in a short period, I don't know how to proceed really. To me it would be nigh impossible to carry out the mission unless we were to assassinate everyone at once. Then again spreading out would kill the game too. You'd have four little games running simultaneously inside one game should we divide our group.

Then again having four professional assassins stalking the targets one at a time would seem overkill and not something real pros would like to do. Call it professional pride or something, but Danamar would feel foolish to carry along three other guys. Also, we know next to nothing of each other's skills and abilities. At least not enough to properly plan a strike. That can be fixed ofc with a few rounds of conversation.

Now, I don't mean to sound like I wish to quit the game. I love the idea of playing in an all assassin game, but I feel we need some help here.

Kilgim was slower to move after Dapple than his friends mostly due to having just finished the protective spell. (and his shorter legs, but like he was going to admit that) The dwarf cursed at the thief's foolishness in words not suitable for kids' ears and sprinted after his fellows. He could only hope they didn't arrive too late. It wouldn't be the first time the lass got herself into trouble. Lad. Ye'd better think o' 'er as a laddie, ye daft. That way ye won't slip away 'er secret too easily "Ye son o'rat, why'd never listen t'yer elders!"

But he was too late. They all were. Dapple was a master of moving in the shadows where the eye couldn't see, but apparently the evil magic of the giggling beast didn't know that. Kilgim felt his heart skip a beat or three as he saw the dancing, glittering threads slice and strike at the lass… lad dropping him on the stairs, senseless. "Kilgim", Char's voice somehow cut through the pounding of the cleric's heart into the alternate reality where time stood still bringing the bald dwarf back to his senses. "Da'Moon's dow!"

Doubling his effort, Kilgim launched himself into a sprint faster than he'd known he was capable of and dropped on his knees beside the broken form of Dapple. His combat-trained eyes had registered the gigantic spiders coming down their way, but he gave them no more thought than he did to the enchanted threads. Their evil would not be able to penetrate the power of his Lord. The invisible globe would keep both the rogue and himself safe from their attacks long enough. The priest just hoped there still was time to do all that was needed to save Dapple.

The deep green eyes scanned the lithe body lying next to him with tears not too far away. The threads had done terrible damage on the lass's chest and arms and her face hadn't fared much better. As his eyes observed the severity of the wounds, Kilgim's hands were busy uncapping a healing potion. As gently as possible, the dwarf lifted Dapple's blood smeared head off the floor and into his lap with one calloused and rough hand and poured a little of the swirling healing elixir into the lad's mouth with the other.

Kilgim's concentration was so perfect that he was totally oblivious to the things happening around him. He was confident in the skills and powers of his friends who were without a doubt doing their best to give him enough time to save Dapple. With some of the potion in the girl's mouth, the priest rubbed her throat softly to force a swallowing reflex while placing the holy symbol of Clangeddin on her brow. His lips were already going through the verses of a curing prayer.

There would be need for a stronger spell now, something that he had never been able do before. The cleric wasn't sure he would be able to carry out the more potent healing he'd seen the high priests of his order perform a number of times on a battle field. But there were no options. The life of dear friend depended on it. The potion should be enough to keep Dapple alive long enough for Clangeddin's power to reach her and mend the severe damage she'd suffered. Or so Kilgim hoped.

Not given up on the game, not at all. Don't worry. Just been busy as hell.

As for getting in, I'd imagine Danamar would choose an easier way and climb over the wall. Shouldn't be too difficult for someone like him. But using a disguise and going through the gate is fine too. That's what the Hat of Disguise is for anyway.

The list of names Volke provided was quite a surprise to Danamar. He knew it shouldn't have been, but there were names on it he wouldn't have thought there to be. Some said nothing to the elven assassin, but others… A couple of names stood out immediately, the foremost of them being the ruler of the realm - king Leonard. But even more than the king, two other names made Danamar feel a bit worried: Tirra Aracia and Riggby. Damned. This will be even more difficult than I assumed. How the hell does he expect us to carry out the mission in such a short time?

Not a single muscle moved on the elf's face as he stood back from the scroll and waited to see what kind of reactions his would-be companions showed. The woman was the first to respond: "I have a few questions. How and where in the city is Shensing inserting us? How much time do we have to complete the list? What proof will satisfy you that we've made the kills?" She paused for a moment before adding with a smile, "And, of course, you haven't said how and how much you will be compensating us for completing this project." Valid questions all Danamar thought and waited for Volke's reply.

It wasn't quite what he'd expected, although being honest to himself, Danamar hadn't really expected much anything. River-quarter was fine. Actually it made of lot of sense. But the reward-part he didn't agree on right away. Sure, the Ioun stone as well as the neat little communication device came in handy, but it certainly wasn't something he would expect as pay for a mission such as this one. Hell, he preferred eating and drinking over some magical means of providing nourishment. The elf wasn't too keen on slaves for that matter, but the promise of gold, magical items and some property (presumably inside the City of Greyhawk) sounded a lot better. Although owning an apartment or a house in a city ruled by someone like Volke wasn't exactly the black-haired elf's dream.

It appeared that Raven wasn't the only one not quite satisfied by the payment. Whisper left the tent with a few soft words: "We shall see, I suppose." Danamar nodded silently at the words and waited for the human to say something about the offer, if that's what it was. He wasn't exactly sure they had a say in the matter. Being surrounded by thousands of Volke's troops getting out alive might prove to be quite impossible should the other elf decide to stop them.

Altiar was the first to say something in the way of accepting the mission and Danamar couldn't blame him. There was a lot of gold in the city of Greyhawk and he was sure there were more than a few of nice enchanted items as well. Surviving the assignment wasn't too certain of course, but when was it ever. As to whether Volke would keep his end of the bargain, there would be no way of knowing. Although those who hired capable assassins tended to understand the dangers of not paying up…

After a moment's silence, Danamar raised his cold gaze from the floor and looked at Volke. His voice was like a song, smoothly flowing from his lips. But there was no more happiness to the song than there was sadness. It was a cold tune without much emotion; strangely beautiful in its lethal promise. "The mission has little chance of success, though I am not saying it cannot be done. The targets are powerful people with means of protecting or defending themselves against any kind of attack. Challenging, nigh impossible even, but not quite…" There was a pause in the elven killer's words, but as he continued his voice was even more deadly than it was before. "What might happen in the probable situation of us not being able to complete the assignment? Is this an all or nothing mission? Will there be a reward on each of the targets' heads or rather one large final one when they all have been eliminated? In the latter case, I would have to say this… advance pay would seem… inadequate. If we will be paid per head, then I will accept the offer."
