I wasn't saying "come on you guys" to you guys; I meant the teams I picked!

Hey, I just picked mine because of the name, or the literal toss of the coin if I couldn't decide. I wouldn't know 'what' to research even if I wanted to do so.

Let the world always remember,
That fateful day in September,
And the ones who answered duty's call,
Should be remembered by us all.

Who left the comfort of their home,
To face perils as yet unknown,
An embodiment of goodness on a day,
When men's hearts had gone astray.

Sons and daughters like me and you,
Who never questioned what they had to do,
Who by example, were a source of hope,
And strength to others who could not cope.

Heroes that would not turn their back,
With determination that would not crack,
Who bound together in their ranks,
And asking not a word of thanks.

Men who bravely gave their lives,
Whose orphaned kids and widowed wives,
Can proudly look back on their dad,
Who gave this country all they had.

Actions taken without regret,
Heroisms we shall never forget,
The ones who paid the ultimate price,
Let's never forget their sacrifice.

And never forget the ones no longer here,
Who fought for the freedoms we all hold dear,
And may their memory never wane,
Lest their sacrifices be in vain.

But even though they don't have a lot of points, they do seem to be resistant to a lot of the normal weapons, especially ranged, so that ups the danger, I think.

Once they are hit, then they shouldn't be too hard to kill. Hitting them, without winding up BBQ, is the hard part.

Thank you for your patience with a Newbie. I promise to give it my best.

Subject: Fire bugs I hate even more.

Lum leads the party down the stair. "This don't look like a natural cave, it be made by someone. That be good, could be good stuff here." Traveling down about 30 yard the big Orc raises his arm to signal stop and quiet. Below he sees an open area lit by a beacon. Another set of stair are on the other side of the area with set of doors, but they seem protected by two large creatures."

"Hmmm," he whispered. " Looks like a good find..see the doors, but them are protected by them big bugs,,Don't know much of them only them are hard to kill,..them got poison bite in front and fire shoot from rear." Lum looked the party, "We need to get through those doors, you got any ideas besides go down and chop them up?"

Máiréad stopped with the others and moved up closer so she could hear what Lum had said. Looking down she saw what he was telling them. Gripping her staff tightly in her hands she closed her eyes for a few seconds as she mumbled mostly to herself; the group was use to this by now as they knew she was 'communing' with her Spirits. When her eyes opened she focused on the creatures and spoke.

"Firebugs," she hissed in a whisper, "these creatures are not natural. They are made by horrible evil men. They are not born, so they are not real life." This was the phrase they would know by now meaning that killing them would earn them no grief from her regarding the slayings.

"I get a strange... feeling from these," Máiréad whispered as she went on, "these are not left over from war. Some one has created these recently, within the last couple years. I have nothing that will harm these creatures, but whatever you do, know that I will ask the Spirits to bless you during the battle."

(OOC: She has no magic or weapons that will do much to these creatures, though she will help by casting enchantments on the party such as: Hero's Might - +1 bonus to damage when making melee and ranged attacks. She will be casting that on the whole party on the 1st round of combat.)

Knowing that they will do battle with these creatures, Máiréad prepares her defense so that she may be in a position to assist in the healing and support of the group. She mumbles once again, and gestures with the staff as she reaches down and picks up some dirt off the stairs and rubs it briefly on her clothing. All of her clothing seems to pale in color to an almost gray Stone color.

(OOC: Right now she is casting Stone Cloak on herself; it increases her armor rating for 1 hour. Before you ask, she can only cast this on herself. )

Ok I see the point in discussing it here but also agree that our characters need to relate this knowledge in game in order for us to use it.

Ok here is what my character was told:

The spirits tell you that these are not left-over from the war - they are newer. Like a few years old. Part of the reason you don't see firebugs often is they are dying out and they were not breed to mate or procreate.

Not sure it is useful in combat but probably will be if we survive it.

I'm kind of new to this rules gaming, but should we be sharing Character Knowledge outside of in game posts? I mean WE don't know theses things until our character reveals them. Does this makes sense?

Maybe I'm wrong but I think our characters should revealing this info in game.

My 2 cents anyway.

Thanks for all the responses regarding Chief Crane situation. I'm glad there is a procedure in place so that she can at least eat.

I know it might seem trivial for me to bring this up; I'm just into the game right now and things keep popping into my head. If I get out of line just let me know.

I'm so glad Asovil isn't in charge of my characters.

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine; Crew Quarters, Deck 3 - 1806 ~ 1830

Crewman Sandra Ann Reynolds was resting in the common area of her quarters that she shared with 3 other enlisted personnel. She was a bit put out by the Crew accommodations aboard this ship; back at her last assignment she only had to share her quarters with one other person. At least they had two bedrooms off of the common area, but she had to share her bedroom with one other person, Crewman Amy Wren. While Amy is human and seems of a playful, fun-loving sort, she does have a way of making some of her remarks to come off as sounding sarcastic; it definitely can be irritating at times. She had only been here one day and already she is glad that Amy is currently working.

Sandra is sitting in the common area, alone at the moment, reading a medical journal on her PADD. She is studying the physiology of some of the other races, other than human, so that she can be familiar with some of the medical differences in case she is called upon to treat some of the Non-Human personnel. She sighed as she lowered her PADD and shook her head as her recent encounters with her new Head Nurse, CPO Cook. Already their seemed to be a problem between them. Oh, Chief Cook definitely has an abrasive personality, and loves to give orders in a stern and no nonsense manner. She liked her Sickbay neat and orderly, and her staff to keep it that way. Well, Sandra couldn't blame her for that; having thinks right where you expected them to be was very helpful in an Emergency.

Speaking of Emergency, she learned from Peter (PO Adama) that PO Bachmann had suffered some sort of accident and was shocked by some malfunctioning equipment in Sickbay. She was glad to learn that the Doctor and Chief Cook were tending to him. The Doctor seemed nice enough and it would be seen if she knew her job; Cook seemed to know her duties even if she was a bitter pill to swallow. She hoped that PO Bachmann was going to be alright; Peter had said that it didn't seem too serious.

Sandra was determined to prove that she knew her job; often she wasn't appreciated for her work. She was still a crewman even though she had been a nurse for awhile and had been passed up for promotion several times in the past. They all said that she worked well but she had a combative attitude; seriously? Her? She just didn't like it when people assumed she didn't know what to do and repeated their instructions just because she had questions about why they were doing things a certain way. Sometimes she saw a better way, but would they listen? No? Never! Well she was determined to prove them wrong at this assignment. As she lifted her PADD again and started to study, she thought that she would learn all that she could and soon they would see her differently. They would ,..

Screeeeeeech!

Sandra lowered her PADD and listened; What was that noise? She listened for a good minute, but the noise was not repeated. Shaking her head she went back to reading.

Screeeeeeech!

She sat up straight and frowned, "What the hell is that?" She said aloud this time. She rose to her feet, setting her PADD down on the table. She slowly walked about the chamber as she listened intently. She was sure that she wasn't imagining it. Or did she? She sighed as the sound was not repeated and just chocked it up to be tired. Grabbing her PADD, she went into her bedroom and decided to take a shower before she turned in a little early for the night.

Screeeeeeech!

The shower door opened and Sandra poked her head out and listened. There it was again. I can't be imaging it. It was real. Turning off the shower, she stepped out and in a minute she had slipped into her usual sleeping outfit, a long loose fitting gray shirt that came down to her mid thighs.

Screeeeeeech!

"There!" She said as she came out of the bathroom and into her bedroom and stopped to listen. She would pin it down, if it took all night.

Subject: CPO Crane

Ah I was researching the ship class for a post that I am working on and found this little bit of information.

Ships of the Saber-class lack many of amenities common to the larger ships. Since food replicators are not available in crew quarters (the exception being in the XO/CO's quarters, the Captain's Ready Room, the Observation Lounge, and in the VIP quarters) meals are served in the Mess Hall located on Deck 3.

Now, I mentioned earlier about visiting CPO Crane, who is confined to her quarters, to see if she needed anything. This was discouraged because she probably wouldn't response to anyone but Senior Staff or the Person who confined her (Asovil). Well since, according to the ships specs, normal crew quarters do not have any food replicators, I would suggest that CPO Crane should have food sent to her at least. Just a tiny line in a post maybe, as otherwise her punishment would become cruel and unusual to be confined till the next day without any food or drink. Just a thought. Dana looking out for her fellow Chief.

Stardate 2365.02.09
USS Peregrine; Deck 5, "The Aerie," - 0748

"Maybe you should retire," Miraan suggested, "we will have plenty of opportunity to talk further. I mean it isn't a very large ship after all." She grinned a little at the last part and waited for him to make his decision.

"You are an astute observer; a good quality in the medical field. Yes I guess I've been on the go since Alpha shift two days ago...... When our assignment changed my schedule went out the hatch. I am glad you allowed me to make up for the silliness of the mustache. And as you said I will have to take me turn in sick bay for an exam. So you just may get to see more of me...", John laughed as he could see the twinkle in Miraan's eye. Then with a mischievous smirk. "Thank you for a pleasant time and I hope we can see more of each other... now I guess I'd better get to my quarters before I start snoring here."

Miraan laughed at his talk of snoring, "Yes it wouldn't do. People might stare!"

Rising John took Miraan's hand, bowed politely,"Miraan, until next time."

"Yes John," she said with a smile, "It has been a most pleasant time."

He then left smiling, thinking of the possibilities.

Miraan's eyes followed him when he left and a small smile graced her lips. She definitely looked forward to further conversations with Lt. Reid; he seemed to be a quick thinker and a good conversationalist. She wondered what he was like when he wasn't half asleep.

She stayed there finishing her breakfast and watching other people come and go. She was a people person and nothing pleased her more than watching them go about their daily routines. Humans were so fascinating and the others races were equally so. After Miraan was finished, she rose from the table and left the Lounge with no particular plan on where she would go next; she was determined to explore the her new ship.

So could I state that my character would wait till others have acted even though her initiative said she went sooner? Just trying to figure out how this will work. I'm sure there will be less questions once we've had a few battles, or we die.

Being bioengineered, these firebugs aren't natural so my character won't have any problem with watching these things be killed. Also being the healer, she will let the more combat inclined act first. Expect this in most combat situations, she isn't a coward just smart enough to know you don't let your healer run out there first.

Question about combat: how do you determine who goes first in actions? It it by post order? Curious. Also it could be important.

Stardate 2365.02.09
USS Peregrine; Deck 5, "The Aerie," - 0745

"But, on to other things," She continued, "Tell me how long you have served aboard and have you seen any battles while you have been stationed aboard the Peregrine?"

"I've been on board for nine months. I had been on my first assignment for nearly four years in Security and there had been a bit of intrigue there. It was on a much larger ship and I had a lot of opportunity to learn. Star Fleet seems to have some kind means to their plan and I must have been up for rotation. I had requested to a Tactical position for my next assignment. The Peregrine had got called to action here due to pirates raiding in the shipping lanes. It sort of sounded like something out an adventure novel. There was an opening for an ACTO here and I got it. Now some folks may think being assigned to smaller ship is somehow demeaning, but this is a great opportunity. There is as much work here as a Constitution Class just few folks to do it. ,but I'm wandering again. What had sounded like an adventure fighting pirates turned out to be a pretty dull tour. I guess they heard how formidable a Scout Class really is so they moved on." The Brandy was starting to mellow John and barely was able to stifle a yawn. After another warming sip, "If we are lucky it will stay quiet,.could give all of us more time get to know each other,.have you ever been to Earth?"

Miraan listened intently as she munched on her fruit, cheese drinking her juices. When he paused to ask her a question, she took the bait and realized that he was turning the conversation back to her.

"Earth?" she said with a smile and a shake of her head, "unfortunately I have not. I have read quite a bit about it and it looks lovely, but my duties have never taken me into that area for a visit." Her brow furrowed and she looked a bit concerned.

"You seem tired, John," she said with a sigh, "I fear that I have kept you from your ‘night cap' and your sleep period. Maybe you would prefer to go to your quarters so that you may rest. I think I heard you say you had pulled a double shift? I can imagine that you must be very tired." The last bit was said so softly that, to his tired and dazed mind, it might just sound like a hypnotic suggestion; lulling him into a deeper desire to get some sleep as soon as possible.

"Maybe you should retire," Miraan suggested, "we will have plenty of opportunity to talk further. I mean it isn't a very large ship after all." She grinned a little at the last part and waited for him to make his decision.
