Máiréad shouldn't have any problem with the 'destruction' of Evil things or Machines as she doesn't see them as alive or a natural thing of this world. So their demise would be welcome and she won't mind helping out there.

As for people and natural animals; they shouldn't be killed unless absolutely necessary. But in all things she listens to her Spirits for guidance.

Since this party does know each other and has travelled together, I think they would have learned something of Máiréad's history. I will have something posted up soon about that.

Gram was glad that they were headed back to Thay; he could use a few days rest at the Pegasus Inn. He and his other Scouts had been in the Rust Wastes for 2 weeks now and were returning to the Inn with their haul. It hadn't been too properous a venture but they had enough he thought to earn a little coin and a few days rest before they went out again. The four Scouts had camped for the night and Gram was the best tracker/hunter so it had fallen to him to provide a little meat to go with the meager rations they had left. He had set snares to try and catch a few coneys or other small game. He was trapzing through the forest now only about 20 yards from the camp to check his traps when he heard something snap ahead. He paused and listened as it didn't sound like one of his traps springing. He didn't hear anything, but he still drew his blaster and listened some more. They were out of the Wastes and less than a day from Thay so they should be in safe territory, but it never hurt to be safe.

He continued on to where he had set the traps and paused as he entered the little clearing where he had set his snares. He stared at a sight he hadn't thought to see. His snare traps, which had used a couple to small saplings were broken, but that isn't what caused him to pause. There was someone standing near them.

It was a green hooded something, no someone he thought as the hood turned to face him. A pale face peered out from the hood at him. Cooper colored tresses flowed from the Hood, some of it braided with bird feathers, small animal bones, and colorful stones weaved into the braids. The face was female, a human, and sort of pretty and it caught him off guard for a moment. The 'girl' looked back at him and held a small coney in her arms; apparently just having released it from his snare and then broken them both. She let the coney go and it bounded into the brush as the green clothed figure seemed to meld quickly into the ground and was gone.

Gram was so struck by the unexpected sight he was frozen for a minute, "What the...?" He said as he looked around for her. He had never seen anything like that before.

SNAP!

He heard something to his left and he turned and could make out the sound of someone running through the brush but he couldn't see them. He assumed it was the girl and bounded into the brush after her.

"Wait!," he cried after her, "Come back!"

He pursued her noise through the forest continuing to yell after her, but she was faster than him as he was weighed down by his Scout armor. He stumbled through the thick brush; following her trail till he entered another small clearing. He stopped and looked about but didn't see her. He knelt down and spotted her tracks and followed them and saw it was headed towards to other side of the clearing. Listening he didn't hear any noise of her moving through the brush, so he assumed she had gone to ground somewhere.

"Ya can't hide from me girl," Gram said aloud.

His blaster still drawn, he moved towards where he thought she must be hiding. He was almost there when something burst from the brush to his left and back into the clearing. Startled he let loose a round from his blaster that struck the ground frying some vegetation. "Damn," he cried out in frustration. He hadn't meant to do that, but he didn't expect that to happen.

The something was the girl, clad all in green she blended rather well in the thick brush; she fled out into the clearing and as the blaster's report echoed through the woods she whirled to face him across the small clearing.
She had a long gnarled wooden staff held defensively across her body; it was carved with some sort of runic designs. The girl was muttering something and one hand came off her staff and made a grabbing gesture towards the ground as if she were picking up something but did not. She brought the hand up to chest high and then opened her hand as she thrust it in his direction. Small stones flew rapidly from her hand, alot of them, more than a hand could hold for sure. They pelted Gram and stung his face, causing him to raise his arms to protect himself. The force of the assault was strong and unexpected and flung him onto his back. He shook his head and sat up, but the girl was gone. Gram heard his companions shouting his name and crashing through the forest. They had undoubtably heard the blaster and come to his aid.

"Over here!" He shouted and stood there waiting till his other three scouts joined him. They inquired into what he was shooting at. He told them his tale and they looked all about, but found no sign of her. He said how he had accidently fired his blaster when she startled him and how he didn't mean to frighten or harm her. His companions began to tease him about how his snares hadn't worked, so he had tried to shoot the Coneys with his blaster instead. They went back to the camp and he shook his head and thought maybe that was a better story than how he had been bested by a young woman. As Gram turned from the clearing, he had a tingling on the back of his neck that said someone was watching them.

Later that night, after a cold dinner of the last of their rations, they had bedded down and Gram got stuck with the first watch as they blamed him for their meager dinner. When the rest of them were asleep, Gram was sitting against a tree where he could see the camp and listen for anything out there. They would be in Thay before Noon tomorrow so it was usually safe this far away from the Wastes. Feeling safe and tired, Gram relaxed a bit more than he should have.

He jumped awake realizing that he had drifted off. He had the strangest feeling as if a warm soft hand had stroked his cheek. When his eyes focused he didn't see the camp, but instead there was the pale face framed by red hair only a couple feet in front of him. Her hand was moving away from his face as if she had been touching him. He started to move, but she raised a finger to her lips, "Shhhhhh" she said softly. He didn't move except to nod his head. The girl smiled at him and he chuckled softly.

"I'm sorry I shot at you," he told her softly, "I didn't mean to."

"I know," she said to him so softly he could barely hear her, "I'm sorry I startled you. I have healed the damage I have done."

Gram reached up to his face where the pelting stones had penetrated his cheeks and his forearms. The scratches there were gone; he looked down to his forearms and they were healed as well.

"I am not sorry that I broke your snares," she said while he was dumbfounded with his miraculour healing without the use of a Healing potion, "I couldn't let you kill those little animals for food when you had food already."

She took a step back from him and stood up straight now and he could see her better. She wore a long green dress almost to the ground, and soft earth-tone colored leather boots on her feet. He had a matching green long-sleeved jacket that had flowers embroided into it and the hood. The only thing she carried appeared to be a 6 foot gnarled wooden staff; the same one he had seen earlier. She clung to the staff tightly with both hands as if she were wary of being attacked.

"We wont hurt you," Gram said as he slowly got to his feet.

"I know," she replied. She turned to gaze upon his sleeping companions and then turned her face back to him.

"You come from the Rust Wastes," she said and then asked, "Why?"

Gram sighed and then he told her about the Scouts and how they were being paid to go out into the Wastes and look for any usable Tech especially old batteries. How they brought it back to the Pegasus Inn, to Dwan the Dwarf, and how he gives him food, shelter and a purpose again. After telling him everything he could, he had an idea.

"Hey," he said as they sat on the ground near the small fire in the center of the camp as his companions slept on, "you should join. You have some amazing talents and we could use someone like you. What do you say? You could go back with us and meet Dwan. I'm sure he would welcome you and give you a home."

She seemed to consider it and gripped her staff tightly; she closed her eyes and muttered something that he couldn't hear. She sat there for a few long moments before she nodded, as if to some reply, and opened her eyes looking at Gram.

"I will go with you."

"Great!" he replied, "My name is Gram."

"I am Máiréad."

Yes, I know people and things will be trying to kill my character but you can defend yourself and stop things without killing. She is very defensive and if something is truly evil then I dont think she will shed any tears if she kills it in self defense.

The only thing was the small pouch with small items, as I put on the last Character sheet I sent you. So those should be alright.

OK great about the backstory. I have been working on something. I will post it up soon.

Actually my character probably wouldn't let Lum have the blaster that was offered her as it is a weapon to kill. Unless he promised not to kill with it, but then again I doubt she would believe that.

Sorry, but she would have turned it down when offered to her. Not even accepted it. So there wouldn't have been anything to give to Lum unless he happened to be there when she was indoctrinated into the Scouts.

Miraan was almost finished with her fruit and was sipping on her juice as she looked about the Lounge area. She saw the XO, Lt Zai, Lean had called him, and the Andorian Female Officer still engaged in deep conversation. Definately something going on there it seemed. She had heard from someone that the Andorian came aboard at the SB and here she was already looking very 'close' to the yummy looking XO. Miraam thought that she worked fast.

She was about to finish up when the door to the observation lounge opened and in walked a young crewman wearing a security uniform. He looked very young, probably just out of the Academy from the looks of it. He wasnt no Lt Zai, but he was quite handsome in his own right.

He walked across and got something from the replicator and then looked around for a table. Miraan locked eyes with him as his gaze passed over her; the young man paused and almost stared at her. She smiled at him and he almost dropped his tray. She gestured to an empty chair at her table. The crewman looked around as if to see if she was gesturing to someone else. When he looked back at her, she nodded and gestured again. He approached the table slowly looking like a Denobulan lemur trapped in a hunter's spot light.

"There's space at this table," Miraan said in her soothing melodic voice, "Don't worry Crewman, I don't bite... hard." When his eyes widened, she chuckled and gestured again. "I'm just kidding, please sit down. I would love the company."

The crewman sat down and cleared his throat before speaking, "I'm Crewman Myers, Clint Myers."

"My name is Miraan," she responded and sipped her juice, "I'm new aboard ship. Having just came on at SB118."

"Yeah... ah I mean Yes I know," Clint responded, "I'm.. ah in Security so it is ... ah.. I mean.. we get files on all the new arrivals."

Miraan looked at him and smiled. She was only having a little fun. She had not interest in him really other than conversation. But she did get a little satisfaction in teasing the young man.

"Please," she said finally, "Eat. I have almost finished so I thought you might like to sit with me a few minutes and talk."

"Ah.. yeah," Crewman Myers responded, "I mean yes I would like that." He finally smiled at her and then picked up his utensils and began to eat as Miraan sipped her juice and watched him.

I think this is more CPO Cook, actually I might put this in the crew roster for her.

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine - Sickbay, Deck 4 - 1602

"Yeoman Turiak," Dana says as she turns to him with a frown. "I am not an officer and even if I was I wouldn't wish to conform to the outdated policy of referring to all Officers as Mister regardless of their Gender. Refer to me a Petty Officer or Nurse."

Turiak raises his eyebrows in response, the only indication that he finds her response odd as he answers, "As you order, Ma'am."

Dana sighs and shakes her head slightly, "Just Petty Officer will do Yeoman." For a Vulcan he seems to have a hard time understanding the simplist things.

"Petty Officer Cook," Turiak intones, returning the scan results to their original screen settings. "I have found nothing that would indicate any continuation of the tissue damage into the cranium. It would appear that the damage is constrained to this region," the Vulcan indicates Ryan's arm, shoulder, and neck, "of Petty Officer Bachmann's body. Furthermore, I can conclude no further indication within our patient of what caused this damage."

Dana examines his scans and nods, "Good work Yeoman. We will keep him secured and sedated till the Doctor arrives and examines him further. She may have more tests for us to perform."

Looking at the area of the damage she is reminded of Thorson's injuries and how they appear similar. She voices her concerns to the Vulcan.

"If PO Bachmann did receive some sort of 'shock'," she said half to herself, "then something like this could have happened to Chief Engineer Thorson. It could have caused damage to his prostethic. He was apparently attacking one of the consoles in Engineering."

(OOC: Ok, hoping to hear from Yanamari soon. Would be good to have the Doctor in on this one. )

1st what is HP? Is that Hit Points? A measure of damage you can take? I think I seen that mentioned in other rules games when I have been reading some of those games.

2nd. In the gear you say we all have; you mention a Rain Clock? I assume you mean Cloak? But if it is a Clock that can tell the time from the rain, hey I'm ok with that too.

Note: My character doesn't plan to wear the armor, the blaster or the batteries for that as she doesn't believe in them. Not for her. Is that ok, that she turned them down when they were originally offered to her?

Oh another question, since they have been doing this for some time, would they have picked up some small items other than the gear you mentioned? Like pouches, and other small innocuous things. Things that are really personal and not of much use to anyone else. I'm wanting to have some small things that sort of show my character demeanor and 'state of mind'.

Time for more wine.

Stardate 2365.02.08
USS Peregrine - Sickbay, Deck 4 - 1600

The door to Sickbay opened and in walked to of the Security Detail with phasers draw of all things. PO Cook sighed and stepped in front of them.

"Hold up," She said in a commanding tone, "everything is under control for the moment. So put away your phasers in ‘my' sickbay." She started at them till they did so.

"Good," she replied, "Now since you're not needed at the moment, please stand by the door over there just in case you are." She turned away from them and back to her patient.

Seconds later, John entered the bay to find Crewman Galla and Wren both standing by with phasers drawn. They obviously had just arrived too. John entered sickbay followed close by an Ensign.

"What the situation? Why was security called?" John looked around the sick bay.

The medical staff was gathered around a restrained man on an observation table.

"Can anyone tell us what happened?"

"Lt. Reid," PO Cook said as she approached him, "PO Bachmann had some kind of accident. He said one of the Wall panels over there ‘attacked' him." She pointed to one of the conns that feed into the medical beds, the one where Chief Thorson had been treated briefly while he was in sickbay. She frowned as that thought occurred to her. She wondered about that coincidence.

"We had to sedate him to keep him from injuring himself," she continued, "he was babbling about something in the wall that attacked him. He does appear to have received some sort of ‘shock' to his arm that appears to have done minor damage to his tissues, but we are performing deeper scans to determine the extent of the damage."

"I want you to notify Ensign Williams here when he becomes lucid." John said, turning to the Ensign, "I need you question this man and find just what happened in here. Also contact engineering to take that unit off line and see if there might be something malfunctioning that could have lead Bachmann to think it attacked him. While you wait for Bachmann to come to head down to security and have Petty Officer Enpok T'Darin fill you in on all our excitement. I'm sure Lt. Berk will brief you when he comes off the bridge."

"Engineering has been summoned to investigate the panel," PO Cook interjected, "I suggest you have your detail stand by and make sure that no one approaches that panel till Engineering can look at it."

Then looking up at the dazed Ensign and chuckling slightly, "Oh.. I'm Lt. Reid the ACTO ,.welcome aboard the Peregrine Let us know if you get bored,.. Crewman Wren please show our new Security Officer to the Security Section. ,,..Nurse Cook, thank you, let me know if there is anything else to report."

"Of course, Lt," Cook replied.

Letting out a sigh John headed back to his quarters.

PO Cook's eyes followed Lt Reid out the door and she shook her head; he seemed a nice enough man and capable at this job, but she didn't see what all the scuttlebutt was about how all the women seemed to fine him attractive. To each their own, she guessed, as she turned by to examining the readings coming of the medical scanners.

As Dana watched the readings, she thought it was probably time to involve the Doctor, if she were available?

"Petty Officer Cook to Dr. Moore," she said hitting her Comm badge, "you are needed in Sickbay."

Stardate 2365.02.08 (Monday)
USS Peregrine - Sickbay, Deck 4 - 1559

"PO Cook to Chief Engineer," She said and once she is answered, "There is a problem in medical. One of my Petty Officers swears he was attacked by his work station. Could you check it out?"

=/= This is Engineering, Petty Officer Cook. Did you say that he was attacked by his workstation? =/=

"Yes," Dana replied testily, "that is what 'he' said."

=/= Okay, Someone will be right there. =/=

Yeoman Turiak finishes making sure his colleague is properly secured and steps over to Conn 3. Punching in a couple of commands, he brings up Ryan's vitals and begins studying them.

"Mr. Cook," his monotone voice calls out to her. "There does appear to be some minor damage to the nerves in Petty Officer Bachmann's right arm." Standing slightly to the side of the conn screen, the Vulcan draws the finger of his right hand along the diagram of the arm for emphasis. "The damage is very slight and will not likely cause Mr. Bachmann anything more than slight discomfort while it heals, but it is most certainly present. It would also appear that it did extend into his neck, and up into the mandible and possibly the zygomatic arch; though we'll need to perform a more intensive scan to be sure."

"Yeoman Turiak," Dana says as she turns to him with a frown, "I am not an officer and even if I was I wouldn't wish to conform to the outdated policy of referring to all Officers as Mister regardless of their Gender. Refer to me a Petty Officer or Nurse."

She stepped up to check out the vitals of PO Bachmann and frowned, "Yes... it kind of looks like some sort of current passed through his body from his hand up to his brain." She sounded puzzled by what she was seeing.

"Yes," she said and nodded, "lets perform the intensive scans, especially in his cranium. I want to see if there is any sort of damage there that might explain his behaviour."

She turned back to look at the conn that Ryan had said 'attacked' him. Maybe he isnt so crazy after all.

"Who is that gentleman over there," Miraan tilted her head to indicate the Trill, "speaking with the Andorian Officer?"

Leah's gaze flitted over to the indicated table for a moment and, as it came back to Miraan again, a shrewd smile danced on her lips. "That, lovely," she cooed, "is Lt Tochi Zai; Peregrine's Flight Control Officer and Captain Drake's right hand. Pretty, isn't he?" She flicked the nurse a wink.

"He's quite the charmer, too," Leah said, her voice lowering a bit, "and, from what I hear, something of a ladies-man, I've not personally seen any true evidence of that, mind, but it is delicious to think about."

A slow smile spread across Miraan's full lips as her eyes looked over Lt. Zai for a few moments.

"Yes indeed," She said and then turned her gaze back to Leah giving her a knowing grin, "Quite delicious!"

She reached out and gave Leah a pat on her arm, letting her hand rest there for a second, "Thank you dear! If I need anything, else I will let you know."

Withdrawing her hand she went back to eating her fruit as she observed the room. Her eyes kept drifting back to the ‘delicious' looking Lt Zai. There was another name she would have to add to her list of people that she would personally see to being the one to perform the physical that the Doctor had ordered on all personnel once the ship was underway. Too bad he already had a dinner companion otherwise she would make a stop at his table. Another time perhaps.

She did wonder if there was anything going on between the Lt. Zai and the Andorian? Watching them she thought possibly, if not maybe soon from the looks of it.
