I was thinking that Alan as a pure caster might be scary...

There was never any doubt in my mind how giving a clever player a clever character would go  So gladddd she's on our side for now lol Even if she's boring af to talk to. Not that I don't just love talking to stone walls.

Work's been workin' me today but I'll get my post up by this evening. Not sure how many rounds ahead you want us to go Olan, but I'll probably describe R buffing the bladesinger and then doing some utility stuff to slow down our Owlly McNugget when I can.

EDIT: Question about spells lasting rounds per level - does this work like Concentration in 5e? Do I need to continue to be casting the spell for all of those rounds per level and do nothing else? Or can I cast it, it lasts however long it lasts, and I can get on with my life?

def digging playing Seleniniel... as evidence by the fact that it takes me an entire page of text to cast 1 spell. i'm a little scared she might not be the most durable character in an Olan 2e game.. but that makes her all the more fun to play

Play by post combat is interesting.  I like to run at LEAST 2-3 rounds per post, else fights can take weeks.  Whenever possible, give me in depth strategy.  If this, then this.  If that, then that, otherwise...

There is no concentration mehanic in 2e unless the spell description calls for it.  For instance, Chant lasts as long as you keep canting... but you can't do other things.  

I can send you a list to the rulebooks if you want the PDFs to look stuff up.

Okay, so if I cast Aid which lasts a round per level, I can cast that one round and do something else the next? I don't have to keep casting until it's over?

I'm able to look up the spells and everything so you don't need to go through the trouble of sending me stuff, but if would help clarify wording and stuff like that I'd read it over.

Nope, once you cast aid, it's cast.  It lasts until the spell duration expires or it is dispelled.  You can do anything else, including cast other spells.  If you are injred, there is no concentration check to maintain the spell. 

Now, if you are actively casting and are interrupted before the spell completes, it can fizzle and be lost.

I.e. you rolled a 3 initiative.  Casting time is 4.  Enemy got a 6 initiative, they hit you before your spell completes (3+4 = 7).  

There are a very few spells that must be concentrated on to maintain.  Their descriptions will clearly say so.

In almost every case, a caster can elect to end their spell at any time.

I got too impatient and posted anyway (also Alan was yelling at me ), but I'll backtrack wherever I need to backtrack.

Rosariel's intention is to cast Command on the Owlbear whenever it's within 5ft of Arathea. Command has a range of 30ft, and Rosa will try to get within 5ft behind Ara on their way to the battle for this part. If she's not there at that point, all good but she'd still like to cast Command when OB is 5ft from Arathea.

Second round is a little tentative. R would like to cast Aid on Arathea. It's a touch spell so she will need to be near her which is why I had her chase the bladesinger. Casting time is 5 - does that mean 5 rounds? Like 30 in game seconds? If that's the case I may change things up because that's such a long time. Let me know and I'll review and update as needed!

ALSO, I re-watched Dune and Dune 2 this week, so I'm going to imagine her commands sound like the Bene Gesserit voice when they command people lol I did take a few liberties describing what her magic looks like. If it's too silly I'll reign it in.

Per the notes on combing adjectives and a nouns, I squished together wise and woman, removing the extra vowel at the start of Edainme and adding an apostrophe to make it look extra as only the Syl can truly pull off.

I feel like with all her running around the woods, there's probably not much there, BUTT to each their own 

And yeah that's what I thought too Alan, and I'm pretty sure Olan explained it like you said for me a long time ago too, but I googled some 2e casting help and it told me 5 rounds would mean 5x6sec rounds. You just can't trust these weirdos online.

I'll probably stick with aid because I'm pretty sure you're right, just wanted to confirm.
