He did as instructed, then leaned out the window and peered behind them. A few Lycans had given chase.

Max felt woozy and doubled over in pain, lightly touching her head.

Seth rounded the next curve quickly, slamming on his breaks so he stopped. He jumped into the back, and almost pushed Travis halfway into the front seat.

"Just get us in there and get us away from these bastards!"

He peeled so quickly from their stop, it shot the gravel covering the road several feet in the air and the tires spun before the vehicle lurched forward.

Seth slapped Max's hands away from the wound.

"You aren't allowed to touch it."

Seth used what little knowledge he had from the Marine Corps. The bullet passed through, so that was simple enough. Some of the bleeding had stopped, and color began to return to her face. But she was still getting worse.

What was it?

Max suddenly gasped and gripped her side. "Stop... the pain..."

Seth looked around, and then remembered his back up plan for a fight. If he was injured, he would inject himself with morphine, making him oblivious to it.

He know used that on her. Sticking the needle into her leg, and he shot the pain killer straight into her body, hoping it would somewhat stabilize her, and also hoping he wouldn't cause her to overdose.

He hated medicine.

Max hissed at the needle and shifted. Her puma self growled, ears flatteming.

Seth couldn't get the needle in deep enough due to her thrashing and the movement of the car.

Damnit...

Seth had one last resort. He tied her hands together with his belt, and strapped her to the coat hangers. Now, she couldn't move, but he had an angry puma on his hands.

Couldn't this just be easy?

Max continued growling and thrashing, trying to pay him back for stabbing her.

"Don't make me pull this car over!" he yelled back at them as he took a tight right hand turn. He was still some ten or fifteen miles from the Villa, and yet even from here it was massive.

"Man, sticking a needle into an angry puma is not the easiest task in the world!"

Seth tried everything he could, but the thrashing was too much for him to inject it firmly.

Max hissed, sharp teeth flashing dangerously. But she went still.

Seth jumped at the opportunity, and shoved it in deep, injecting the drug into her bloodflow.

She instantly calmed.

And hopefully, she'll stay calm, Seth thought.

Max shifted back and sighed. She looked at Seth.
