He shook his head.

"How am I supposed to trsut your parents if they are working for the guy who sent Max to capture me..."

Thats when he said it.

"I can't even trust myself. I damn near killed Seth three times, almost killed Max, almost threw an old man out of a high rise...and I almost killed you...but I managed to stop drinking."

"It's okay to drink alot from me: I'll always heal. Max can take almost anything as long as it doesn't go through her heart. But... be careful with Seth." Rose stroked his cheek.

"I don't trust myself...I'm insane. How can I raise a child...hell, I could kill the child."

A drop of wetness came to his eyes, and he hung his head down. He couldn't imagine...he could, but he didn't want to.

"Shh." She hugged him. "Travis, don't worry."

Even though her embrace was reassuring, he could not shake the feeling he was going to kill someone he cared about. He was insane, he couldn't be trusted, and therefore anyone was fair game.

If they managed to find a cure, even just a temporary one, maybe he could hold out until all of this was finished. Even then he doubted it. He saw her neck, exposed...so close to his mouth. His fangs slowly extended, but he knew he was not hungry, he had just fed...and yet he wanted more. More of her blood...it was the sweetest he had ever tasted.

He lowered his mouth to her neck, fangs extended...and kissed her. His fangs retracted back, and he freed himself from her grip. He got up and pulled on his clothes, forgoing his now disgusting shirt, he simply put on his bullet proof vest instead. It was an obvious hint at what had just happened, but he figured Max and Seth weren't stupid enough to not figure that out anyway.

That is if they weren't already busy doing anything themselves. Travis actually hoped they were, Seth needed a release from all the tension and fear that had been building up in him, and Max was the best candidate for the job.

Travis had sure enjoyed his time with Rose, and he hoped Max might treat Seth to something similar. He needed it.

The minute Seth and Max entered the weapons room, his jaw hit the floor.

"Oh my god..."

There were weapons from all different eras. Medieval swords, civil war cannons, thompsons, m1s, any gun and blade he could think of.

"How long have these people been alive?"

"Too long. Especially Kane." Max didn't bother to hide her distress.

"well then, we'll just have to knock a few years off his. What do you say to that?"

Seth wanted to see that man dead. He wanted to crush his skull under a boot, after he spilled all his blood to the ground for the vampires to drink up.

"Good." She looked away from him to hide the tears rolling down her face.

Seth grabbed her chin.

"You don't have to look away. Everybody cries. I'm gonna tell you something I should've told everyone a long time ago."

He reached into his wallet, and produced an old picture of a lot of men, all smiling in the desert. "This was my batallion. There's me, I was in charge. That boy right there, he was the youngest. He was killed first. I remember grabbing his hand, trying to pull him away from the lycans, and then I remember holding his hand, because it wasn't connected anymore. These two were killed by friendly fire in the chaos, and these three right here went missing. After my dismissal, I went to all 16 deceased's families, and told them what happened. They all hate me now. They asked, ' why them instead of you? Doesn't the captain go down with his ship?' I can tell you, if I could go back, I might choose to die to save those men."

Seth wiped a tear off his own cheek. "All those men were my brothers. At least, we were close enough to be."

"It's lycans that everyone's against..." Max pulled away. "Like me. Everyone hates me now."

"I'm gonna be blunt with you. We don't hate you because you're a Lycan. We hate you because you tried to kill us and then yourself. Well, you tried to kill me. Just capture Travis. And we don't truly hate you. It's just going to take a little while to regain my trust."

He hated to say it, but it needed to be said.

"You can't ever trust me again. When this war is over, I'm leaving. So don't try to find the good in me, it won't matter." Max stepped further away.

Seth just stared at her. What was her issue?

"I'm not being unreasonable, and you know that. And you seem determined to prolong your own unhappiness. But damn, if that's your goal, don't let me stand in the way."

Seth turned on his heel and began walking towards the door.

"I'm leaving because I love you. I don't want to hurt you." Max touched a jeweled sword.
