Kannizan huffed. He'd helped raise the boy, so he had the stubbornness of a young dwarf. He knew he would get nowhere with this argument so he let it go. "Fine. We'll go yer way." He slid his axe back into his belt and looked around. "So what's the course of action?"

Kannizan stood up off the bed.

"Ye aren't pulling me beard, are ye?" Calvin shook his head. "In that case, we can't wait any longer. I knew there was a reason I brought this." Kannizan patted the pack on his shoulder. "We need to gather a small group. Elf, I need to you to go find anyone who you think can help us. Calvin, follow me. We're going to the headmasters office. I want to ask him some questions."

He pulled one handaxe from his belt. As he spun it around in his hand, he looked at the elf, who stood still for a second. "Move, Elf!"

I'll be down in south carolina for the weekend, out in the middle of nowhere. I don't think most people in that state know this town is there. I know for certain that internet has not yet found it's way there. So, I must set aside my SWG, RDINN, and my repeated watching the SWTOR trailer until sunday evening. I'll catch with everything then.

Kannizan chuckled at Hirokuun's words. "Young elf lord thinks I need a weapon. He also speaks as if I'm new to the world." Kannizan turned to Hirokuun and spoke a few words in the dialect that he judged as his people, due to the style of the tattoos. They roughly equaled to "Confidence and over confidenced are easy to get confused, eh?"

He took a seat on the edge of the bed, pulling his beard in frustration. Today was not quite what he'd expected.

Kannizan eyed the elf with disbelief. "Lad, I've cut down more elves than ye know, and all of them with twice yer experince in fighting. Ye sure ye want to swing again?" He took two confident steps forward. "I figured Brenan would be gone. I hear troubles brewin, and with ye at school, ye knew well he'd be in the middle of it."

As Kannizan headed up to the living areas to check on Calvin, he thought to how well educated Isilifeen had been. He also felt stupid when it dawned on him.

I never see her with other students because she is an instructer!

He tugged on his beard in frustration, and almost walked into Calvin's door. He was about to knock when he heard voices coming from inside the room. It seemed Calvin was back.

Kannizan but his ear to a crack in the wood and listened. He didn't enjoy eavesdropping but he felt it necessary at times. He couldn't really tell what was being said due to his own heavy breathing, but he felt frustration in Calvin. As he leaned in closer, one of the straps on his belt broke, and a repair hammer fell to the floor with a crash. Kannizan sighed, as he knew that the noise alerted the two in the room that he was there.

Seth groaned as he lay writhing on the floor, his blood spilling from the wound in his stomach. He periodically twicthed, partially from the pain and partially from shock, which he was quickly entering into. The Lycan moved even closer with two more steps. "You know you're going to die, right?" Seth looked hard at the Lycan.

"Go to hell, you dog." The Lycan roared with anger, and struck Seth across the head with the pistol. As blood spilled from his head wound and into his eyes, he began to lose his vision, and he felt afraid. He was afraid of being forgotten, of everyone feeling glad that he was dying.

He felt those fears up to the point when the Lycan put the gun to his head, and he felt them for the split second it took him to die after the trigger was pulled.

Seth remained nothing more than a bloodstained body and a memory.

Kannizan nodded at Calvin. "Aye, lad. Ye run 'ome and find Brenan now. An' ye tell 'im that Kannizan is wonderin' about this blade." He watched as Calvin took off, blade in hand, to go find his father. Kannizan then turned around.

"A'right now, I've assembled ye all for a quick crash course in field repairs of yer weapons and armor. Can ye tell me what the leading cause of equipment failure is?" He carried on the class, showing the group how to use the hilt of swords to crudely beat dents out of their armor, and how to use a helmet to sharpen their swords. As he wrapped up, he noticed it had started to get dark, and Calvin had still not returned. He began to worry.

Ekron looked as the wolf trotted away. He chuckled slightly to himself. She thinks she's powerful with that form...He was then sidetracked by his own desire and thirst for power. As he picked up his staff, he decided to try his hand at some enchanting. He researched a spell through his book. No, no, no, no, no...Ah! This will work. He mumbled a hushed "Roniyu Grage Un" and slid his finger along the top of the staff. He then waved his hand above it and gasped as his palm was sliced open and blood spilled over an invisible spear head. It worked! He felt as if he made a major bound in his magic, when he realized how simple that spell was. He also realized how short lived it's effect was, as the blood that was suspended in air fell to the ground as the blade dissappated.

your new sword. Kannizan has an idea that it could be draconis. His reckoning on that is because of different sizes, so a draconic longsword would be slightly longer than what a normal human is used to if they had larger bodies. he also uses the jewels and the intricacy as more hints to that. Is that fine or am I way off the mark?

"I've heard of blades that are picky about there wielder, but this is somethin' new te me. It's almost as if the blade itself is...alive. There are rumors o' sentien' weapons." Kannizan was rubbing his palm when he saw Lakota leading a small group of students down into the forge, and seeing the archer girl among them made him feel good. She seemed like she was always alone.

"Ahhh. Right now, before we begin, I want you all to look at something." He motioned to Calvin to walk over with the sword.

"Can anybody identify the make of this blade?"

Kannizan heard someone running down the steps.

The lycan lass is quick, he thought. As he turned to greet her and the students she'd assembled, he was surprised to see Calvin sprinting towards him holding something he couldn't quite make out. He could tell it was a blade, but it looked too long for a standard longsword, yet too short to be a bastard. What the hell...

Calvin came up towards him, breathing hard and speaking quick as he related the story of Brenen giving the case to him, and him just now opening it. Kannizan looked at the blade and that's when he saw the glamour that accompanied it. He looked it over in his hands with wide eyes and an open mouth. Never in his life had he heard of such a blade. He'd only heard of similar weapons wielded by the spirits when they'd once walked the land. He reached out and touched it, but immediately jumped back in pain. It had felt as if he had stuck his entire hand in the forge behind him. He was glistening with visible sweat, and he looked Calvin right in the eye.

"Now I wonder where Brenen found that one."

Kannizan nodded to Lakota. "Not a problem there, miss. Glad to do it." He took a large spoonful on his gruel and sat back into his chair. "I want ye and a few other senior students te snag a few of the recruits. I want te start teachin 'em of battle repairs a wee bit early. Ye understand, right? Heh, first days are always so boring." He finished off his gruel and motioned towards Isil. "Seems ye have a fan. Go, make her feel welcome 'ere at the Academy."

He left the dining hall and again made his way towards the forge. He looked at his chainmail gloves with meticulous scrutiny. Not a link broken. He did see a few weak spots though. He'd bang that into shape as a demonstration. He also brought along the standard issue longsword, bastard sword, dagger, shield, and helmet. They would get an extensive introduction to his art.

Deep down, he also felt an urge to prepare some of the students. Bad omens have occurred before this year, and while he knew not what lay ahead, he wanted to make sure they were prepared.

And so he waited.

Yales waved at him.

"Sure, have at it." He moved towards the wall and flipped the switch, activating the hologram machine once again. A mirror image of himself flickered into being, standing with the same calm and collected stance. As Yales leaned on the wall to watch, the communications device of the ship went off. "Hello?" Yales answered with fervence. "This is Captain Yales. How can I be of assistance?" Incoherent screaming was heard on the other line. The only words he could pick up were "Harshlands...Urek City...only one left...hurry." Captain Yales looked up.

"Get ready. You can finish killing the mirror me on the way there if you want. Just be sure to be suited up and ready to go when we get there."

Yales ran out and towards the control room. It was time to push the ship.

Kannizan chuckled slightly as Calvin went past him. The boy was excited, so of course he wouldn't be paying attention. "Alright laddies, time fer breakfest. Get cleaned up and head to the dining hall." He then headed down himself. As he arrived, some students were already filing in, and also some instructers had taken their seats. He sat down, feeling very awkward. He was the only dwarf teaching this year. Most instructers didn't like him. They felt he was too personal with his students. He was repeatedly being told "you teach them, not adopt them." He just couldn't help it. He spent a few years in the tlyvarian military, so he looked at all the men and women training with pride.

Kannizan nodded before Lakota ran off.

"Alright lads and lasses. Follow me up the tower 'ere."

As he walked through the hallways, he reached a spiral staircase leading up the northern tower.

"Everyone up that tower. Warriors, first door on the right. Mages, first on the left, and scouts will walk straight back the corridor to the door at the end.

He grabbed Calvins arm as he walked past. "What class ye got first tomorrow?"

The Lycan approached on Seth. As he grunted to scoot the chair away, the Lycan pulled out a gun.

"I don't care what you know. You're going to die here."

Seth heard two shots, and his blood was splattered on the floor underneath him. It ran quickly from his stomach, where both bullets entered, and he was screaming in agony. The Lycan took another step forward.

"Do you want to die, boy?"

The large pirate made his way out of the tavern. He needed some fresh air. As he pushed the door open, he saw spotted a very confused looking woman standing out in the street. "Well, what have we here? What you lookin' fer, miss?" His bronze skin was still shining in the moonlight, his cutlass hanging at his side. His hands had callouses from years of ropes onboard a sea vessel, and he stretched as he spoke to her.

Ekron looked at the peasant boy. Lazy man, he thought. He whispered "Opul hurundi gan", and a small stinging fire lit on the boys backside. "Are you awake now? We don't have all morning. Who knows how many more forces there are out there. And if they have a mage, we're done for."

Ekron stood up and slid his spellbook back into his pouch. "And I was serious. When is breakfast?"
