Subject: Collab Part 1

Having said his piece, Jacob turned to Clary, still keeping an eye on the wolf. He'd heard her murmuring to it, confused. He'd needed to talk to her again anyway, and that was as good an opening as any.

"Not quite dead, Clary. But very nearly," he told her, speaking a bit softer so as not to involve the whole group. "We were lucky in that I was able to get to you in time to heal you, with a bit of power gifted from Lord Grum." Jacob nodded at the wolf next to her. "I might not have made it in time if you hadn't been so well protected.

"That said, your wounds aren't fully healed. I wasn't able to use enough power. If you'll allow it, I have some herbs that will help you along."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"- very nearly -" Clary was brought out of her musings slightly before she slipped back in before Silinrul nudged her softly causing her to jump and look up, eyes unfocused. She barely caught what he said at the end, " - Help you along." Clary blinked slowly before tilting her head, her voice still soft but a little louder but still slightly muffled by Silinrul's fur,
"W- What?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Jacob looked a bit more intently at her. She seemed to be in shock. "You almost died, Clary. Your wolf protected you long enough for me to get to you. But you still aren't fully healed. I can help you with that, if you like. It'll heal on its own, but slower."

Lini had to stop himself from humming as the moved further into tunnels. He was quite enjoying being in the lead. He'd have to try it more often.

He placed his dominant hand on his gun when he spotted the glow. His teammates readied themselves for combat. Ooooh, they were going to try an ambush. Lini LOVED ambushing things.

Pulling his weapon, Lini aimed towards the glow and waited.

(((OOC: Readies action: attack on hostile target, if possible. +5 to hit, 2d4+1 damage)))

Jacob looked up as the conversation passed him by. He didn't know if the man was telling the truth, but he doubted it. Unsubstantiated rumor, most likely. Still something to keep in the back of his head. Especially after the 'steal a few clerics' line.

When an opening presented itself, Jacob spoke. "I agree we need to investigate. Pike needs its clerics if its going to survive though. I wonder, though, will it be safe to leave them there, if there are Feral roaming around taking them? Perhaps we should see how Father Tolly and the others feel?"

The whole thing was starting to worry him the more he thought about it. Jacob had traveled farther on his own than most people dared to. Why hadn't he heard of this?

Lini's eager to move forward, but will help the group. Bodies could be searched on the way out unless someone in game thinks they could have something useful.

Lini could carry a sunrod down at full speed and check out tunnels. Might be better than just peering from one end? What do you all think?

Lini couldn't resist a flourish as he holstered the gun at his back. His Awesome Pistol was... well... awesome. And he hadn't even broken out the cool stuff yet!

The fight had gone well. Mild damage from that horrendous noise, but the party was still in good shape overall.

He looked around at the tunnels the others had called attention to. He looked at them, then at his team, then back at the tunnels, and smiled.

"Well, if our larger members don't mind getting their hands and knees dirty, I could lead us down one of these tunnels, kupo. What does everyone want to do, kupopo?"

And Lini certainly wouldn't enjoy his teammates discomfort at being the ones that were the wrong size for once. Definitely not.

Lini had, of course, heard people speak of sounds so loud or so shrill or so whatever being able to hurt, not just hurt. He'd never really disbelieved these stories, but it never occurred to him to think on the difference.

A subject he no longer needed to think about, having just experienced it. Painfully.

When he could see again, he noticed the hume covering his ears. Maybe Lini should invest in earplugs? They were sure to have a ton of useful applications. After all, the group was newly formed, and he didn't yet know if any of his companion's snored.

Shaking his head, and hoping it wouldn't throb for too long, Lini cast his gaze at the last remaining enemy. His companions seemed more on the ball than he was, but he figured it wouldn't hurt to be back up.

(((OOC: Spend one grit point to fire a Focused Aim shot, should it still be necessary on my turn. Attacks remaining enemy with +5 to hit for 2d4+2 damage.)))

Jacob offered another prayer, this time of thanks, as he felt the spell take hold and watched Clary rise. He'd taken a bit of damage to get to her, but it hadn't been in vain.

He swept his gaze across the battlefield. They were falling. It was time for the group to end this.

It was amazing how quickly the tone of things could shift. Lini was reflecting on this as he absently drew his pistol. He'd been enjoying that cart ride, and considering asking for a longer tour afterward, when they'd up and arrived at the destination. Lini had scarcely stepped out of the cart (or so it had seemed to him) when they were thrown into battle with some weird tiger/bat mutant things. How odd.

He slowly took in the situation, then decided the one closest to the group shouldn't have the opportunity to close. So deciding, he nodded to himself, and fired.

(((OOC: Lini attacks #3 with a standard shot. +5 to hit, 2d4+1 damage.)))

Silinrul howled with rage seeing the human woman who he treated as his own kin fall, blood marring the ground and her armor, moving quickly in front of her he nudging her gently with his nose.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jacob was already moving to cover his taciturn ally (Clary, it seemed) when the axe fell. He felt his stomach lurch and fall as she did, thoughts of firing on her attacker fleeing his mind. He watched her companion turn and try and stir her as he moved faster. A wound like that wouldn't hold. Regardless of previous plans, he'd have to cast.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Silinrul whined softly, nudging her once more. He then looked up seeing someone move forward. Growling lowly, the wolf was unsure who to pick to attack: the man coming towards him or the woman at his back who had originally harmed the human-wolf.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jacob's stride shortened. He saw the wolf notice him, and move closer to Clary, looking back and forth between himself and the axe-woman. Jacob stepped as slowly as he dare, not wanting to be too late to save her. He widened his hands some, so that his bow was visibly unable to be used quickly. After briefly making eye contact, Jacob looked away, towards Clary herself, doing his utmost not to show threat as he neared her. If the wolf wouldn't let him pass, Clary might not last much longer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Silinrul watched the man inch closer, teeth still bared as he weighed the options. Would he trust the man with his human-wolf? Huffing once, Silinrul let out a bark before spinning and going to attack the woman who had hurt his pup, trusting that the man who looked like he wanted to help would bring no harm to her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jacob sped up again for the remainder of the short distance between him and the other two. He let out a breath he hadn't know he was holding as the wolf spun around to confront their shared enemy.
Reaching Clary, he quickly knelt, already in prayer. 'Grum, Lord of the Wilds, though your children failed you and allowed you to be driven from your rightful place, please grant this servant a small part of your power, that he might continue along the path of your restoration.'
Casting was tricky under ideal circumstances, and these weren't ideal by a long shot. Now all he could do was wait, and hope that Grum consented.
This bunny type is only able to wield his human sized gun through judicious use of racial feats. Doing it one handed is not gonna happen.
Lini could carry one, sure, but will have to drop it to fight.
I've no artistic talent to speak of, so I admit to being slightly envious. But each of the images you've shared has been really great, both drawn well and visually interesting. Even the maps, which while I can appreciate, don't usually get a response from me.
Subject: Not exactly the Cave of Wonders, but....
Lini shivered a bit. Why'd the first one have to be caves? Not that he had anything against caves. He'd never been in one, mind you. He was sure caves were perfectly fine and respectable geographic formations, and they'd never done anything to him. Not yet, anyway.
But he was still having a bit of trouble shaking the dream/vision thing he'd experienced last night. Faces that he now saw next to him as they approached mine foreman. A cave that probably wasn't this one, but could be. What did he know of caves? What if it was the same if you went deeper?
What if he was being silly?
Lini visibly shook himself, then looked around curiously. It was his first time in a cave, but it may not be the last. The rock that made of the walls, the floor, the ceiling, it did interesting things down here. In the places it wasn't mined away anyway. Neat formations here and there. Study, but funny shaped pillars. Large, but dull spikes from the floor and ceiling. He wondered how it must be to work around such things all the time.
The foreman seemed fairly disinterested in the whole affair. Lini supposed there must be monsters underground as much as above ground. Perhaps the whole thing was just another inconvenience? Maybe they wouldn't have even called upon the Falcons had it not been for the whole 'invisible' thing. Lini had never fought an invisible enemy before either. But as long as he could shoot it, he could kill it. Probably.
Gelion took the lead, pelting the dwarf with questions in a rapid-fire manner that could put a moogle to shame. Good questions though. Lini was curious as to some of those answers himself. He had only one additional question. "Could you spare us a dwarf to guide us there and back? Preferably one who was there when the attack started?"
