I'm a little stuck myself. Not sure what to do. We're not officially a group, as such, so not a lot of conferring to be done, in character. Jacob wanders a lot on his own, so I'm not sure what to do with him without a clear goal?

Question to the GM. I decided to roll for stats and came out really good. Like maybe too good. wondered if you wanted them nerfed a bit.

*For reference, they are 17, 17, 14, 15, 17, 13

I'm in two other games, and I'm the healer in both of them. I"m gonna decline that role this time around.

Tieflings and Dragonborn being disallowed, I'm thinking an elven monk.

How's that sound?

Working ten hour shifts on the night shift sucks.

Post is up, Silent and I collab'd. Open to collabs with others once our characters group up.

Jacob will go talk to the elf for a bit, then maybe the halfling if there is time.

Jacob slowly reached down to scratch the wolf bumping against him behind the ears. He nodded at Clary's response. "Let me know if it doesn't fade. Healing magic isn't always as effective as we might wish anymore, and I have some things that might help."

He looked down as the wolf butted against him again, then moved to take his place next to Clary, who gave a slight nod. "I'll let you know...."

Jacob gave his own nod, glancing down at the canine as it resumed its self-appointed role of guarding the woman. They appeared closer than was normal for a ranger and companion. "Your wolf. Does it have a name?"

Gray eyes softened as they rested on her companion, and answered in a matching tone, "Silinirul. His name is Silinirul." They snapped back to Jacob, her whole body stiffening. There was a hint of warning, the slightest trace of fear as she continued, "Why? You can't have him."
."
Jacob tried to smile reassuringly, something he didn't have much practice with, and gently shook his head. "He's a fine partner, and I wouldn't dream of parting you from each other."

Clary seemed to relax, but still clutched slightly at her companion. The woman gathered herself as they moved away from what, in her opininion was a more uncomfortable topic. "Thank you. Uhm... you said I very nearly died...." She eyed Jacob again. "How close was I?"

Jacob hesitated. He didn't want to worry her, but guessed that she'd prefer a grim truth to an airy lie. "Without Grum's blessing, you and Silinrul would have been left to the rain."

He was proven right when Clary smiled, perhaps sense his brief mental struggle. Looking again at her partner, she only said, "Thank you, for telling me."

Jacob nodded briefly. Clary seemed to have reached her limit, and Jacob had no desire to press further. He turned and looked at the rest of the room. The elf seemed to be distincly uncomfortable with Silinrul's presence, and he moved toward her, hoping to be sufficiently distracting as to head off a confrontation.

Quick post up to talk to clary. AFter that, I may try and talk to the crowd, or to Damian.

Are the three of us the only players left?

It weighed on Jacob, to look out at the faces of the thirsty. Their arrival was to have been one of triumph and celebration; it would have restored these people some of their hope.

Now they simply looked on. Jacob shook himself slightly, clearing his mind. He had thought the stares almost accusatory, but it was all in his head. Water would be restored now that clerics were here. But instead of boosting the towns morale with a large supply, it would trickle out as it could be spared. Sustaining, but not soothing. It meant that the breaking of the town would always be with them, a wound in the back of their minds.

Trying to not to dwell on such a sad thought, Jacob glanced at his companions. Clary stood as if rooted, clutching at the wolf who seemed to be her only companion. The attention of even so few people seemed to wilt her. He moved towards her, intending to attempt reassurance.

He spoke softly, so as not to include their audience in her business. "Clary, have your wounds healed fully? Any lingering trouble?"

Gonna be honest, just venting here.

Spent thirty minutes of my day fighting a moderate sized yard fire that broke out. Just me and my step dad running third's of a bucket of water all over our rather sizable backyard until the fire department got there. Thirds of a bucket because our water pressure is such that they didn't fill faster than that.

Lost over half the yard, some patio furniture, a few plastics we had out there. Very thankful it wasn't worse, but still shaken up. Not my first bad experience with a fire.

Thankfully the local fire department is well trained an efficient. Once we saw it was out of control and called them, they responded in less than ten minutes, and it only took about that long after their arrival to have the medium sized blaze well and truly out.

Everyone is safe, thanks to those men, and we didn't lose anything that can't be replaced. But I am wired for sound right now. Can't get settled y'know? Running back and forth, unable to do much but slightly slow the s60 degree spread, breathing in all the smoke and watching my yard turn black.... it was a rough day.

Jacob had exposure to more clerics of more faiths than anybody else he knew, save perhaps those in the orders themselves. Outside of that community, however, he thought he'd probably had dealings with more clerics than possibly anyone else in Slate.

And while clerics were certainly to be valued, and even respected, it never, not once, ceased to amaze him how determined they could be to rejoin their god of choice by keeping their heads tucked safely into the clouds.

He wondered briefly if the various deities instilled such things into their followers, of if it just came along with being born a cleric. Perhaps remaining so closely in service towards them, eyes ever skyward, prevented people from seeing the land as it was?

Jacob shook himself, and willed himself calm again. These two particular clerics were amusing examples of their kind, and not to be the subject of his scorn. At least not yet.

That one of them spoke so casually of moving an entire town amazed him. He would have been surprised, but he'd long ago given up on that reaction, when clerics were involved. The fact that every once in awhile, a cleric or group of them managed to do something outlandish seemed to embolden all the rest, further trapping their sight heavenward. And no amount of failures or bloody deaths seemed to deter them.
It would be admirable, if tempered with a modicum of common sense.

The scout decided to take that thought to heart. No sense in getting worked up. The reality of the situation would await them at their destination, and any and all plans made beforehand would almost certainly be voided.

Looking around, he saw virtually no one interested in the conversation but him, save perhaps the elf, who seemed to be the only one engaging the clerics in conversation. Either they had come to similar conclusions has Jacob, or they simply didn't care.

It was with some relief that Jacob spotted Pike in the distance, a feeling that grew as they drew near. They weren't out of the storm just yet, so to speak, but now they could begin dealing with the realities, one way or another.

It's been awhile hasn't it? Wrote this letter by letter on an old flip phone during lunch break. Not much to it, I'm afraid. As always, please tell me what you think. No point to posting things that nobody likes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember when
My only friend
We met at spring's decline
An ear was bent
Each moment spent
Together was divine
Remember then
My only friend
The days of summer's rise
With mirth and song
The days grew long
Each one we had, a prize.
Remember when
My only friend
Autumn's time was here
I stepped away
From you that day
And hurt you with my fear
At winter's end
I'll not defend
Regret won't right the wrong
But now, as then
My only friend
I listen for your song
